This article documents the translations of works of modern Mahua literature in magazines published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP). Discussion is made descriptively, guided by translation history theory employing eight objects of study proposed by D'hulst (2010), i.e. quis (who)?, quid (what)?, ubi (where)?, quibus auxiliis (which sort of support)?, cur (why)?, quomodo (how)?, quando (when)?, and cui bono (what are the effects)? The translations of modern Mahua literature in magazines published by DBP were collected manually from magazines from the collection stored at the National Library of Malaysia (PNM). Data collected were analysed using bibliometric methods. Findings from the study show that the translations of modern Mahua literature were published in Dewan Bahasa and Dewan Sastera comprises 33 poems and short stories. 12 local translators were involved in producing these translations since 1968. The publishing effort of the translation of Mahua modern literary works into Malay aims at introducing Chinese culture and thoughts through Mahua literature to Malay-language readers to promote understanding and cultivate national integration.

Abstract Since its inception in 2007, DBpedia has been constantly releasing open data in RDF, extracted from various Wikimedia projects using a complex software system called the DBpedia Information Extraction Framework (DIEF). For the past 12 years, the software received a plethora of extensions by the community, which positively affected the size and data quality. Due to the increase in size and complexity, the release process was facing huge delays (from 12 to 17 months cycle), thus impacting the agility of the development. In this paper, we describe the new DBpedia release cycle including our innovative release workflow, which allows development teams (in particular those who publish large, open data) to implement agile, cost-efficient processes and scale up productivity. The DBpedia release workflow has been re-engineered, its new primary focus is on productivity and agility, to address the challenges of size and complexity. At the same time, quality is assured by implementing a comprehensive testing methodology. We run an experimental evaluation and argue that the implemented measures increase agility and allow for cost-effective quality-control and debugging and thus achieve a higher level of maintainability. As a result, DBpedia now publishes regular (i.e. monthly) releases with over 21 billion triples with minimal publishing effort .

A new online publishing effort, eMedicine Otolaryngology–Facial Plastic Surgery (FPS), is a comprehensive textbook now being developed on the Internet ( www.emedicine.com ). This book is one of a series of 15 electronic textbooks written by a worldwide panel of authors and editors, and it is distributed free of charge to anyone with a computer and a modem. Advantages of online textbooks such as eMedicine Otolaryngology–FPS are that they provide readers with easy accessibility to reliable, up-to-date information, and they allow authors to quickly edit and revise editorial content and supplement traditional text with sound, graphics, and video. An ambitious undertaking, eMedicine Otolaryngology–FPS represents a significant advance in the way medical information is written, edited, and distributed. Although it is unlikely that electronic textbooks will replace traditional textbooks any time soon, these types of publishing efforts will continue to proliferate.

Opuscula Aesthetica Nostra is a pioneering publishing effort, blazing a trail which specialists in other philosophical fields should consider following. It purports to represent what is happening in aesthetics throughout English-speaking and French-speaking Canada today, and in consequence it is an intriguing exercise in Canadian bilingualism. It purports also to show, as co-editor Calvin Seerveld says in the Preface, that “aesthetics deserves its own bona fide place in the national market place of ideas”; so the editors have reprinted strong previously published papers, in addition to soliciting new material on the occasion of the Tenth International Congress of Aesthetics held in Montreal in 1984. The result is a satisfying pot-pourri of ideas.
