Iodine value is regarded as one of the essential parameters to establish edible oils' quality and identity. The research paper describes a simple visual titrating procedure to ascertain the iodine number of oils. The method involves adding potassium iodate to polyunsaturated constituents (alkene double bonds) in fatty material along with ethanoic acid, followed by the determination of unreacted potassium iodate by titrating against a standard solution of sodium thiosulfate in the presence of potassium iodide via the iodometric method. The iodine value of various edible oils determined by the new reagent potassium iodate was found to agree with the results of standard methods like the Hnaus method.

A set of δ-amino γ-butenolides (1-5) were synthesised by a novel method using molecular iodine as a catalyst by mannich reaction. The purity and progress of the reaction was assessed by thin layer chromatography and the compounds characterisation was done by IR, proton NMR and mass spectroscopic techniques. Molecular modeling studies for the compounds such as docking was performed for the synthesized butenolides to understand the drug receptor interactions and analyze structural changes when bound to the active site of the receptor. the results showed that the compounds 2 and 3 showed significant interaction with target enzymes.

: The development of simple, atom-economical, and sustainable methodologies for the construction of various functional molecules from easily available substrates has been of great interest in synthetic chemistry. N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) is an inexpensive, abundant solvent and industrial raw material. It is considered as an effective polar solvent and a versatile reagent in synthetic transformations. During the past few decades, many significant and attractive achievements have been made in the fields of DMF as a reactant. The mini-review will mainly summarize recent advances in the applicants of DMF as a multipurpose building block in synthetic reactions.

: For many years since its discovery, Selenium has played the role of a bad boy who became a hero in organic transformations. Selenium dioxide, for instance, is one of the most remembered reagents in allylic oxidations, having been applied in the synthesis of several naturally occurring products. The main goal of this review is to show the recent advances in the use of classical and new selenium reagents in organic synthesis. As demonstrated through around 60 references discussed in this study, selenium can go even forward as a versatile reagent. We bring a collection of selenium reagents and their transformations that are still hidden from most synthetic organic chemists.

Abstract:: Formic acid (HCOOH) as an inexpensive and versatile reagent has attracted broad attention in the field of green synthesis and chemical industry. Formic acid acts not only as a convenient and less toxic CO surrogate, but also as an excel-lent formylative reagent, C1 source and hydrogen donor in organic reactions. Over the past decades, many exciting contribu-tions have been made which have helped chemists to understand the mechanisms of these reactions. The review will exam-ine recent advances in the utilization of formic acid as economical, practical and multipurpose reactant in synthetic trans-formations.

Polycyclic spiroindolines are the basic skeletons of large families of indole alkaloids that exhibit a broad spectrum of biological and pharmacological activities. The past seven years have seen impressive developments in the construction of polycyclic spiroindolines enabled by 3-(2-isocyanoethyl)indole-based cascade reactions. We herein give a brief summary on this evolution and highlight our contributions in this field.1 Introduction2 Cascade Reactions Involving Nitrilium Ion Intermediates3 Cascade Reactions Involving Ketenimine Intermediates4 Conclusion and Outlook
