The article represents clinical, instrumental and electrophysiological predictors of postablative atrial fi brillation (AF) occurrence after radiofrequency ablation of cavotricuspid isthmus in 209 patients with typical atrial fl utter. The results of our own experience in the treatment of these patients are analyzed. The technique of the modifi ed intraoperative electrophysiological test of AF induction in patients with typical atrial fl utter is described. The role of this technique in the occurrence of postablative AF is evaluated. A mathematical model for predicting postablative AF at the intraoperative stage of treatment of patients with typical atrial fl utter has been developed.

AbstractThe multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) is an electrophysiological test that allows the function of multiple discrete areas of the retina to be tested simultaneously. This document, from the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV), presents an updated and revised ISCEV standard for clinical mfERG and defines minimum protocols for basic clinical mfERG recording and reporting so that responses can be recognized and compared from different laboratories worldwide. The major changes compared with the previous mfERG standard relate to the minimum length of m-sequences used for recording, reporting of results and a change in document format, to be more consistent with other ISCEV standards.

The article presents the clinical, instrumental and electrophysiological features of patients who develop atrial fibrillation after cavotricuspid isthmus ablation in 209 patients with typical atrial flutter. Taken together, these features make up a peculiar clinical, instrumental and electrophysiological portrait of patients with post-ablative atrial fibrillation. Comparative analysis of these parameters was made, and it was found that some of them are prognostically significant. Also, we describe the technique of modified intraoperative electrophysiological test of atrial fibrillation induction in patients with typical atrial flutter. We investigated the role of this technique in the occurrence of post ablative atrial fibrillation.

Abstract Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease characterized by autoantibody mediated postsynaptic failure of neuromuscular transmission. The thymus gland has a role in the pathogenesis of MG. The aim of this study was to determine (1) the prevalence of different thymic pathologies in the MG patient population of Latvia; (2) the potential impact of different thymus pathologies on the clinical course of MG; and (3) the effectiveness of surgical treatment of thymic pathologies in Latvia. The results showed that the most common thymus pathology among the patients with MG in Latvia is thymoma. Compared to the published data, the proportion of MG patients diagnosed with thymus hyperplasia in Latvia is very small. Thymus hyperplasia is uncommon among patients 60 years of age and older. MG onset for patients with thymoma is significantly later than that of patients with thymus hyperplasia. Almost all patients with thymoma or thymus hyperplasia develop a generalised form of MG. The presence of a thymus pathology does not significantly affect the electrophysiological test results, clinical symptom severity, frequency of disability or hospitalisation of the patients with MG. Thymectomy in patients with thymoma or thymus hyperplasia has no significant effect on relieving MG symptoms
