Feature extraction and selection are important parts of motor imagery electroencephalogram (EEG) decoding and have always been the focus and difficulty of brain-computer interface (BCI) system research. In order to improve the accuracy of EEG decoding and reduce model training time, new feature extraction and selection methods are proposed in this paper. First, a new spatial-frequency feature extraction method is proposed. The original EEG signal is preprocessed, and then the common spatial pattern (CSP) is used for spatial filtering and dimensionality reduction. Finally, the filter bank method is used to decompose the spatially filtered signals into multiple frequency subbands, and the logarithmic band power feature of each frequency subband is extracted. Second, to select the subject-specific spatial-frequency features, a hybrid feature selection method based on the Fisher score and support vector machine (SVM) is proposed. The Fisher score of each feature is calculated, then a series of threshold parameters are set to generate different feature subsets, and finally, SVM and cross-validation are used to select the optimal feature subset. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated using two sets of publicly available BCI competition data and a set of self-collected data. The total average accuracy of the three data sets achieved by the proposed method is 82.39%, which is 2.99% higher than the CSP method. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a better classification effect than the existing methods, and at the same time, feature extraction and feature selection time also have greater advantages.

AbstractElectrocardiograms (ECGs) are widely used for diagnosing cardiac arrhythmia based on the deformation of signal shapes due to changes in various heart diseases. However, these abnormal signs may not be observed in some 12 ECG channels, depending on the location, the heart shape, and the type of cardiac arrhythmia. Therefore, it is necessary to closely and comprehensively observe ECG records acquired from 12 channel electrodes to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias accurately. In this study, we proposed a clustering algorithm that can classify persistent cardiac arrhythmia as well as episodic cardiac arrhythmias using the standard 12-lead ECG records and the 2D CNN model using the time–frequency feature maps to classify the eight types of arrhythmias and normal sinus rhythm. The standard 12-lead ECG records were provided by China Physiological Signal Challenge 2018 and consisted of 6877 patients. The proposed algorithm showed high performance in classifying persistent cardiac arrhythmias; however, its accuracy was somewhat low in classifying episodic arrhythmias. If our proposed model is trained and verified using more clinical data, we believe it can be used as an auxiliary device for diagnosing cardiac arrhythmias.

Abstract It is aimed at the low accuracy and low efficiency of face recognition under unlimited conditions. In this paper, a Siamese neural Network model SN-LF (Siamese Network based on LBP and Frequency Feature perception) is designed based on the Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and the Frequency sensing model.Based on Siamese neural networks, the network adopts circular LBP algorithm and frequency feature perception to realize face recognition under unrestricted conditions. The LBP algorithm can eliminate the influence of light on the image and provide directional input to the network model at the same time.Frequency feature sensing divides the image features into low frequency features and high frequency features. The low frequency features are compressed in the Siamese neural network to increase the recognition efficiency of the network. At the same time, information is exchanged with the high frequency features, so that the target noise data can be eliminated while the feature data is retained. In this way, the recognition rate of the network is maintained, and the computing speed of the network is improved.Simulation experiments are carried out on standard face dataset CASIA-Webface and Yale-B, and compared with other network models. The experimental results show that the proposed SN-LF network structure can improve the recognition accuracy of the algorithm, and achieve a good recognition accuracy.
