According to the survey of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers, sending and receiving of support, vertical division of organizations, business continuity, local collaboration, management of disaster prevention and mitigation, advance preparation for reconstruction, and number of personnel are listed as the problems of a local disaster management. As for these problems, the achievements are made clear by analyzing concretely the progress for 10 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake based on the data and examples. As a result it is found out that at the state level the know-how to formulate the subordinate plan of a regional disaster management plan has been summarized and the training system is being arranged to develop the human resources. And at the level of the local governments the rate of the local governments which have worked out a business continuity plan improves and the number of the personnel engaging in disaster management increases significantly. Furthermore, some remarkable advanced examples are observed in the problems of “vertical division of organizations” and “local collaboration.” In the future these measures should be implemented in the individual local governments and elaborated continuously by improving themselves through friendly rivalry.

This study has been produced for the purpose of furthering the debate on the importance of cultural identities in sustainable development processes by giving special emphasis to stakeholder collaboration management in the tourist industry. Tourism plays a critical role, both in strengthening cultural identity and promoting sustainable development. However, there issues that need to be addressed, such as, how tourism, especially community-based tourism (CBT) could help promote local culture, what is the role of key stakeholders, especially local people’s attitude towards sustainable development collaboration. These issues have been considered. So far, CBT is a kind of approach to promote sustainable tourism development, and also to be grounded the local circumstances. In other words, local cultural identity enriches and defines the CBT approach by way of matching local cultural identity and tourism development. Nomadic people are viewed as the key engine of their community, who epitomize the local identity. Finally, I propose “A nomad friendly tourism”, or “nomadic tourism” that can be seen as a development concept rather than CBT, and which is the practical tool that maintains the balance between natural and cultural landscape of the Mongols.

Abstract Background Positive behaviour and user's collaboration improved by using choices orientation techniques; in Lucca's Hospital (North-West Tuscany Sanitary Authority) this approach has improved separate waste collection execution and has decreased cigarettes dumping in commons areas. Objectives Phase 1 (May 2019): amendment of choices architecture recyclable waste bins in commons areas and into the wards were boosted, with “islands” clearly visible from any point of common paths; in the transit areas were installed exclusively multi-material and paper bins, equipped with signs that clearly indicate which products deliver; residual waste bins were allowed exclusively in certain points.ashtrays at the hospital entrances were eliminated and replaced with signage indicating smoking cessation benefits and the presence of areas “put your cigarette out” along the structure approach routes. Phase 2 (scheduled for May 2020): “nudge” action Spreading in community (using press and social-media) and locally (using poster) of the slogan “In San Luca we are taking a step forward: don't lag behind!”. This message stimulate the perception of an ongoing change to join. Results A decrease in residual waste collection and in instances of non-compliance in separate waste collection was detected. Decorum in the outdoor environments improved, with a reduction of user's reports and extra-cleaning interventions. Conclusions The described actions have improved user's collaboration, management efficiency of waste disposal and cleaning service, perceived quality and cost. Key messages Imitating a social model appears to be successful motivator of virtuous behaviours. Choices architecture and “nudge” techniques may improve citizens’ care pathways governance.

There is no doubt that nowadays internationalization is increasingly attractive for companies that want to become more competitive. However, many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) still are resource-constrained, lacking adequate information and facing problems to establish and manage relationships to operate in a sustainable way in international markets. Despite receiving some support from governments and from other institutional entities, these difficulties faced by SMEs call for a stronger support, which can be played by industrial enterprises associations (IEAs). This chapter brings the perspective of five different companies that are associated with IEAs. The main objective is to have their opinion about the role of IEAs as information managers and promoters of collaborations, mainly for internationalization processes. Another objective is to understand the acceptance by these companies regarding the use of collaborative platforms, managed by IEAs, for supporting their information and collaboration management activities.

The storage device based on Nonvolatile Memory (NVM devices) has high read/write speed and embedded processor. It is a useful way to improve the efficiency of Key-Value (KV) application. However it still has some limitations such as limited capacity, poorer computing power compared with CPU, and complex I/O system software. Thus it is not an effective way to construct KV storage system with NVM devices directly. We analyze the characteristics of NVM devices and demands of KV application to design the matrix KV storage system based on NVM Devices. The group collaboration management based on Bloomfilter, intragroup optimization based on competition, embedded KV management based on B+-tree, and the new interface of KV storage system are presented. Then, the embedded processor in the NVM device and CPU can be comprehensively utilized to construct a matrix KV pair management system. It can improve the storage and management efficiency of massive KV pairs, and it can also support the efficient execution of KV applications. A prototype is implemented named MKVS (the matrix KV storage system based on NVM devices) to test with YCSB (Yahoo! Cloud System Benchmark) and to compare with the current in-memory KV store. The results show that MKVS can improve the throughput by 5.98 times, and reduce the 99.7% read latency and 77.2% write latency.
