This study aimed to carry out a systematic analysis of the literature on the environmental impactsof waste resulting from year-round maintenance of roads (WMR) with deicing agents. The impacts on economic factors and the environment at all stages of the life cycle were systematically examined, taking into account the engineering and technological efficiencies, and the direct, indirect, prolonged and deferred effects. A structural-integral block-hierarchical model for monitoring and evaluating the impacts of WMR on the environment and on the industrial, social and economic system as a whole was developed. This incorporated the complex spatial-temporal industrial, biological, physical and chemical impacts of elements of the road infrastructure itself, as well as external conditions. Keywords: pollution monitoring, environmental impact of waste, pollution from transport

Recently, there has been an increase in the chloride deterioration of bridges on urban highways owing to the excessive usage of deicing agents in winter, thus necessitating repair and maintenance measures to ensure the durability of concrete. In this study, the status of the damages occurring in the concrete barriers, such as walls and median partitions, of bridges on urban highways in Seoul was investigated. After collecting a total of 306 cores from various sites, a chloride analysis test was performed on a total of 918 samples obtained by dividing each core into three parts. The results were analyzed using the depth, upper and lower parts of the barrier, damage conditions, and route. In addition, the safety of the structure was evaluated in the case of repair by removing the corroded reinforcing bars (main reinforcing bars and spacers) directly exposed to chloride.

The operating conditions of non-metallic elements of the air suspension of road vehicles are analyzed. The influence of deicing agents and negative temperatures on non-metallic (rubber) elements of the pneumatic spring is studied. The methods of conducting tests to assess the effect of negative temperatures and aggressive environments on non-metallic elements of the air suspension are described. It is shown that the destruction of the microstructure is caused by the action of reagents on the rubber part of the pneumatic cylinder. Keywords: road vehicles, air suspension, rubber elements, negative temperatures, deicing agent

The paper presents the results of measurement of resistance of concrete with surface treatment against water with deicing chemicals. Surface treatment of the test specimens was performed by sandblasting using steel balls. The effect of sandblasting was measured on normal strength aerated concrete (NC) and high strength concrete (UUHPC). Aerated concrete gains its resistance to water with deicing chemicals mainly due to its pores structures, while UUHPC due to the low porosity and low water absorption of the cement matrix. The sandblasting of the specimens simulated the required surface finish or mechanical deterioration of the concrete.
