Abstract In the modern era of the chemical science, the chemical graph theory has contributed significantly to exploring the properties of the chemical compounds. Currently, the computation of the topological indices is one of the most active directions of the research in the area of the chemical graph theory. The main feature of the study of the topological indices is its its ability of predicting the various physio-chemical properties. In this article, we compute several degree-based topological indices for the caboxy-terminated dendritic macromolecule. We compute Harmonic index, atom-bond connectivity index, geometric arithmetic index, sum connectivity index, inverse sum index, symmetric division degree, and Zagreb indices for caboxy-terminated dendritic macromolecule. The obtained results have potential to predict biochemical properties such as viscosity, entropy, and boiling point.

A novel biodegradable amphiphilic dendritic polyether-ester composed of glycerol, glycolic acid oligomer and methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) is described. The monomer unit composed of glycerol and glycolic acid was protected by tert-butyl and benzyl groups. The amphiphilic dendritic polyether-ester was prepared in high yield using sequential deprotection reactions and esterification. The structure of all compounds was confirmed by 1H NMR spectra, 13C NMR spectra, GC-MS or matrix-assisted laser desorption–ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry, and the amphiphilic dendritic macromolecule molecular weight and distribution were measured by gel permeation chromatography.

Research on dendrimers continues to expand as further advances in synthetic methodology and characterization techniques translate to additional applications. Recently, dendritic polymers composed of the natural metabolites glycerol and succinic acid were synthesized, functionalized, and evaluated as new medical materials. The design and synthesis of poly(glycerol-succinic acid) dendritic polymers are discussed, including comparing and contrasting the convergent versus the divergent methodologies for preparing such macromolecules. Finally, a photocrosslinkable dendritic macromolecule was prepared and successfully used to close linear corneal lacerations as well as to secure LASIK flaps.
