Importance: Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of unintentional deaths of children ages 1 and older, particularly children with health care needs. Objective: To explore family caregivers’ experiences and current practices while transporting children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Design: A concurrent nested mixed-methods approach was used to gain insight into caregiver experiences. Setting: Participants completed an online Qualtrics survey. Participants: A convenience sample of 54 caregivers of children with ASD from 17 U.S. states. Results: Themes that emerged include sensory behaviors of children, education related to child passenger safety, and participation in the community. Statistically significant findings suggest a correlation between caregivers (n = 39) being less likely to participate in activities away from home if the child had attempted to elope (p = .013), displayed aggressive behaviors (p = .005), or demonstrated self-injurious behaviors (p = .001). Conclusions and Relevance: The findings suggest a correlation between caregivers limiting the distance traveled during vehicular transportation and behavioral safety concerns. If caregivers must limit travel, they may refrain from accessing the community and engaging in leisure pursuits. What This Article Adds: The findings suggest that therapists who treat children with ASD should be familiar with child passenger safety restraints, particularly for elopement.

Introduction: Behavioral immune systems allow organisms to detect the presence of disease-causing pathogens in their environment more immediately and engage in behaviors that prevent them from coming into contact with objects and individuals. There is extensive research linking behavioral immune systems to a variety of prejudices. These prejudices cause labeling and ultimately social stigma on these people. Therefore, the present study investigated the behavioral safety system and its unique effect on prejudice and stigmatization in people with infectious diseases. In this review study, the research literature was searched through Google Scholar and PubMed with the words "Behavioral Immune System, Prejudice, Stigmatization", and the relevant authorities were included in this study. Research has shown that people tend to associate illness with obesity, the manifestation of facial symptoms, physical disability, and foreign nationality in order to avoid becoming ill by predicting illness and thus overreacting to them. These reactions occur in many groups of people who do not actually have the contagious disease and are called a type of psychological allergy. These prejudicial reactions and labeling can cause social distress for these people and their long-term social isolation. Conclusion: Disgust is triggered in response to pathogen-related stimuli and is associated with unique patterns of autonomic nervous system activity and neural activity, but in functional connections between anatomical structures, chemical neurological processes, and various cognitive and behavioral phenomena, the genetic structure is involved. Demonstrating behavioral immunity, there is not much information and more study is needed.

In the era of new technologies and complex production systems, enterprises face new challenges in creating and maintaining healthy and safe working conditions. Maintaining a high level of development of the safety system of employees in the course of their work is the key to the efficiency of the enterprise, and in this they are helped by the development of the security culture. Anatoliy Komarov, head of HSE Practice, consulting director of Industry Consulting Ecopsy, explains what the security culture and behavioral safety audits are.

Majority of industrial injuries continue to be caused by the human factor due to a low level of occupational safety culture. The international practice of forming the high culture of industrial safety has become widespread in the behavioral safety audit procedure, the implementation of which considers the methodological foundations of ISO 45001:2018 code Occupational health and safety management systems. Requirements and recommendations for use in the context of any of the selected business processes of the organization. In this study, based on the results of processing 1505 behavioral safety audits conducted at the gas transmission company, 4572 violations of employee actions and conditions at their workplace were identified. When analyzing the distribution of violations according to the observation criteria, it was established that the prevailing number of violations falls into three observation categories: Actions of employee/employees, Reaction of employee/employees and Workplace. Using statistical data processing, a correlation dependence was established between the number of detected violations and the category of observation. Analysis of the actions of employees and the conditions at their workplace allows to establish the potential severity of the consequences of violations for each type of incident and is an integral part of practical implementation of the concept of a risk-oriented approach of the industrial safety management system. Quantitative assessment of behavioral safety audit procedure results makes the industrial safety management system more adaptive, oriented on the research of the role of the human factor in the prevention of potential threats and detection of potential opportunities for the development of the organization. This contributes to ensuring the achievement of an acceptable corporate level of industrial safety culture, improvement of working conditions, and as consequence, reduction of occupational injuries and occupational illness.
