Industrial engineering achieved rapid growth in providing safety measurements in all industries, following different safety policies to prevent faults in sectors. Industrial safety is an essential feature to give an accident-free environment. The safety policies and measurements encourage the industrial people to work in different perilous conditions. Industries prepare their safety policy and safety manual to identify various faults and risks. It is necessary to create awareness in industrial working members, and industries maintain special departments for safety. The safety guidelines prevent occupational injuries and accidents. The safety rules and regulations reduce the waste of human and other resources in industries. The study evaluates safety models used in industry to identify issues involved in the selection, implementation, and evaluation. This research provides insight into the overall process for industrial safety and, most essential, overviews on the methodology. Predicting industrial faults and risks emphasized the industrial engineering process and used machine learning algorithms for classifications. Many issues and challenges discussed industrial safety and provided novel innovation ideas for researchers.

Background. Globally, occupational injuries account for 15% of the mortalities associated with occupational accidents. The work of the solid waste collectors exposes them to numerous occupational hazards, which results in injuries. Increasing rates of occupational injuries from 43.7% to 63.9% among solid waste collectors in sub-Saharan Africa opens room for more research to be done. The study assessed the magnitude of occupational injuries and associated factors among solid waste collectors of Zoomlion Ghana Limited in the Accra Metropolis. Methods. A cross-sectional quantitative study was carried out among the solid waste collectors. The occupational injuries and their associated factors among the solid waste collectors were assessed using questionnaires. Multistage sampling approach was used to select study respondents. Data were collected through the administration of questionnaires. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression was used to assess the association between the dependent and independent variables. Results. In this study, 21.79% (78/358) with 95% CI (0.1749, 0.2608) among the solid waste collectors reported having at least one work-related injury in the last 6 months. The factors that were significantly associated with at least one occupational injury among the solid waste collectors in the Accra Metropolis were work duty (collection and transportation), the zone of assignment for respondents, and lack of personal protective equipment (PPE). Conclusion. This study showed that the prevalence of occupational injuries among municipal solid waste collectors in the Accra Metropolis was lower as compared to similar research conducted in Ethiopia, Egypt, and India. Working in the collection and transportation category and lack of PPE for use at work were significantly and positively associated with occupational injury among the solid waste collectors. Again, working in the La Dade Kotopon zone had reduced odds of sustaining injuries as compared to those in the Ablekuma South zone. The result of the study demonstrated that cuts/puncture was the injury that was mostly sustained by the municipal solid waste workers, while the leg was the body part that was mostly injured followed by the hands. Public health education in the municipality should target solid waste collectors with the aim of improving their health-seeking behaviour.

Development of scientifically sound measures for the prevention of occupational injuries based on the analysis of data on occupational injuries, including fatal in the forestry sector of Ukraine, to identify the main causes of such injuries. Based on the analysis, it was established that the level of occupational injuries in the forest industry was in one of the first places among all sectors of the economy of Ukraine. A step-by-step decision-making process was used to develop an algorithm for making managerial decisions. It was found that the accidents occurred mainly due to violations of safety requirements by employees, lack of control by officials of forest enterprises over the organization of safe work and due to violations of the technological process. The study was based on actual statistics of the State Labor Service on occupational injuries in the forestry sector. It is stated that the situation around the enterprises of the forest industry cannot be radically corrected without the introduction of an effective labor protection management system with elements of assessment and management of industrial risks. The obtained theoretical conclusions, based on statistical data on occupational injuries, have been brought to the level of specific proposals suitable for practical use in the planning of preventive measures for labor protection in the field of forestry. The necessity of actualization and improvement of normative-legal acts in the field of forestry is substantiated. The adoption of the "Minimum requirements for the safety and health of workers in forestry and greenery" is justified, which will expand the scope, namely: legal relations will be regulated by the type of work, and not just apply to economic entities who carry out certain activities; it is proposed to introduce a "labor safety coordinator".

Despite significant improvements in occupational safety and health (OSH) over the past 50 years, there remain persistent inequities in the burden of injuries and illnesses. In this commentary, the authors assert that addressing these inequities, along with challenges associated with the fundamental reorganization of work, will require a more holistic approach that accounts for the social contexts within which occupational injuries and illnesses occur. A biopsychosocial approach explores the dynamic, multidirectional interactions between biological phenomena, psychological factors, and social contexts, and can be a tool for both deeper understanding of the social determinants of health and advancing health equity. This commentary suggests that reducing inequities will require OSH to adopt the biopsychosocial paradigm. Practices in at least three key areas will need to adopt this shift. Research that explicitly examines occupational health inequities should do more to elucidate the effects of social arrangements and the interaction of work with other social determinants on work-related risks, exposures, and outcomes. OSH studies regardless of focus should incorporate inclusive methods for recruitment, data collection, and analysis to reflect societal diversity and account for differing experiences of social conditions. OSH researchers should work across disciplines to integrate work into the broader health equity research agenda.

The article focuses on the need to form the culture of safety of professional activity in future occupational safety and health engineers. The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate and develop the structure of the pedagogical system of formation of the culture of safety of professional activity in future occupational safety and health engineers. Research methods applied: systematization and analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature and scientific and methodological documentation; modeling; classification and comparison; generalization. It is determined that the pedagogical system of formation of the culture of safety of professional activity in future occupational safety and health engineers is a complex dynamic and flexible formation that contains a set of interconnected and interdependent elements as goals, content, organizational forms, methods, tools, techniques and learning outcomes. It is established that the pedagogical system is aimed at increasing and improving the motivational and value sphere, professional knowledge, skills and professionally important qualities for the prevention and obviation of occupational injuries, gaining experience in safe professional activities and communication on occupational safety and is implemented through: educational goals (general, strategic, tactical, final); content of formation (labor protection, organizational and managerial, legal, ergonomic, health-preserving, communicative); forms of organization of educational activities that provide interactive work (problem lecture, lecture-visualization, lecture-dialogue, lectures-discussions, lectures in pairs, practical and laboratory work of interactive cooperation, workshops, problem seminars); methods (problem, moderation, training, brainstorming,  professional activity modeling); interactive pedagogical techniques (game, techniques of cooperation, design, case, vitagenic training techniques, information and communication techniques); complex of educational-methodical and didactic support (programs of academic disciplines and practices, reference notes of lectures, plans of laboratory and practical classes, means of visualization of educational information, legislative and normative documents on labor protection, formats of documents on labor protection, means of assessment of students’ educational achievements). It is concluded that the proposed pedagogical system makes it possible to improve the quality of professional training of future occupational safety and health engineers for their professional activities on the basis of safety culture in accordance with modern requirements.

BACKGROUND: Occupational accidents among teachers are a cause of concern because of their consequences regarding several parts of the body, such as the neck, back, or extremities; however, the number of studies on this issue is limited. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the possible effects of different variables (gender, age, nationality, experience, sector, day of the week, traffic accidents) associated with occupational injuries suffered by teachers. METHODS: All teachers’ accidents recorded in Spain (136,702) from 2003 to 2018 were analyzed. Odds ratios with a 95% confidence interval were calculated. RESULTS: For injured female workers, being younger than 45, in her first month of experience, in a public school, without risk assessment, and in a traffic accident are the most important factors related to suffering a neck injury. In the case of injured male workers, to be older than 45, in a private school, and no traffic accidents are the factors detected influence suffering an injury in lower extremities. CONCLUSIONS: Institutions and schools should pay special attention to the highest-risk profiles. Results obtained can be a very useful tool for the design and implementation of specific occupational health and safety strategies adapted to the more vulnerable workers in each kind of injury.

ABSTRACT Introduction The U.S. Department of Defense employs more musicians than any other organization in the USA with over 6,000 musicians employed. Musculoskeletal pathologies, behavioral health disorders, hearing loss, and dystonias account for the majority of reasons a musician seek medical care. The aim of this study is to review recent medical literature documenting occupational hazards in musicians. Materials and Methods Authors performed a literature review of publications related to musician performance-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMDs) and performance-related pain (PRP), behavioral health disorders, dystonias, and hearing loss, published from 2004 to 2019 PubMed. Results The search returned 174 possible articles which, after review and exclusion, yielded 88 articles. Conclusions Medical literature suggests several risk factors for multiple disease categories. Practice time and history of PRMD/PRP were both associated with development of PRMD/PRP and focal dystonia. A history of behavioral health disorder was associated with development of focal dystonia. Clinicians should counsel their musician patients on strategies to minimize risks, and additional research is needed to identify specific causes of illnesses in musician populations.
