Marriage and the family are important institutions of human society. As we know, they include different private institutions: the institute of kinship, the institute of motherhood and fatherhood, the institute of property, the institute of social protection of childhood and guardianship, and others. The process of family formation is the process of assimilation of social norms, roles and standards that regulate courtship, the choice of a marriage partner, family stabilization, sexual behavior, relations with the parents of spouses. The sociology of the family in a narrow sense, as part of general sociology, as a theory of the “middle level”; considers a special sphere of life and culture of families. The sociology of the family deals with a group, and not with an individual subject of life activity. A group of people connected by family and kinship relations forms that part of the social reality that is studied by the sociology of the family, where the family lifestyle is at the forefront. The sociology of the family considers the individual as a member of the family, integral part of the society. The sociology of the family correlates with the sociology of the individual; it studies personality, first of all, through the prism of socio-cultural intra-family ties, family identity of the individual. In any societythe family has a dual character. On the one hand, it is a social institution, on the other-a small group that has its own laws of functioning and development.

The last decades brought us dynamic changes in patterns of fatherhood. It is related both to expectations toward men, and their daily functioning itself. However, the role of a father is less often commercialized than the role of a mother. In line with that, commercials and marketing activities are less often addressed to fathers than to mothers. This paper is addressed to the potential grounds of this state of affairs, and the description of the new phenomenon – dadvertising. The possible manners of profiling marketing activities including fathers as primary recipients will be presented and discussed concerning findings of studies from the field of family psychology, sociology of the family, and a few existing studies aimed at commercials addressed to fathers. The abovementioned issues will be illustrated by examples of single commercials and marketing campaigns, in which protagonists or recipients were fathers.

The purpose of the article is to reveal and describe derivational models of terminological nomination in the object field «Sociology of the family». Derivational – morphological, morphological-syntactical and syntactical models of sociological terms belonging to family sociology in English have been analyzed. Detailed structural-semantic characteristics of English terms of family sociology is presented, the most productive means and methods of formation of terms in this sphere are revealed. The theoretical relevance of the study lies in apprehension of the derivational specific character of the formation of the object field «Sociology of the Family» as one of the main ways of verbalizing the scientific worldview. The apprehension of the object field of «Sociology of the Family» as a complex cognitive and linguistic phenomenon existing in several discourses (existential, vernacular, religious, gender, educational discourse, initiation discourse and many others) contributes to the presence of special and terminological vocabulary, integrating scientific and naive worldviews.

The relevance of the article is determined by the need to overcome the existing differences in understanding the subject area of the family studies in Russian sociology today. The aim of the article is a revision of subject boundaries and methodological problems of the family sociology. The novelty of the work is in identifying the externalist and internalist factors that are differentiating the sociological research methodology of marriage and family relations from it’s in other sciences. But currently, there is a tendency to overcome the cognitive one-sidedness of various disciplinary approaches in an attempt to create a comprehensive science of the family.

Emile Durkheim’s first specialized course in Bordeaux (in 1888) was on the sociology of the family. Although his work on the topic is not his best known, and is often rather misunderstood, it is still quite interesting. Durkheim was able to perceive the two leading characteristics of the European family under the first modernity (from the 1850s through the 1960s): the personalization of ties and the increasing intervention of the state in family affairs. Understanding this change did not lead Durkheim to approve of it, however, and he worried about the weakening of rules and discipline within the family.

The article focuses on relationship experiences in the light of the diversity of relationship forms, relationship length and the attitude of partners to relationship permanence. The conceptual framework was determined by the sociotemporal perspective, and the analysis was carried out with reference to concepts employed in the fields of the sociology of the family, the sociology of intimacy, the sociology of gender and the sociology of time. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the socio-demographic characteristics of women and men and their relationship experiences, the diversity of relationship forms and their length, as well as their readiness to stay in a relationship or leave in a crisis situation. The research was carried out using the diagnostic survey method on a representative sample of adult Poles in January 2018. Gender has been shown to differentiate the length of relationship and the attitudes to relationship permanence. It was found that women stay in shorter relationships more often than men. It was also found that the experiences of women with different types of relationships are more diverse when linked to their social status than the experiences of men. Four types of orientation to the (im)permanence of relationships were identified. It was established that men’s readiness to leave depends on their age, education and self-assessment of their financial situation, whereas women’s decision to leave depends on their age, education and socio-occupational category.
