PT. XYZ is a company engaged in wood processing. The product produced is plywood according to customer demand. After observing the production floor, several problems were found, namely that there was unused equipment in the work area. This equipment is equipment that is damaged or is not used. Besides, the cleanliness of the production floor is also poorly maintained where there is still dirt and dust. This study aims to identify problems related to waste on the production floor and design and propose the 5S method to create an effective work environment. The method used in this study uses the 5S concept approach (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke). 5S assessment is carried out using the audit checklist and evaluation checklist. The audit checklist and evaluation checklist are filled out by an auditor who knows clearly how the actual conditions on the production floor are. Data were collected in five work areas, namely rotary, press dryer, repair, assembling, and packing. The results of this study can be concluded that 1) problems on the production floor of PT XYZ include: there is no written procedure for elimination, there is no label on the work area, there is no regular cleaning, employees do not understand 5s, there are no procedures and 5s standards, there is no audit regarding 5s, there is no visual management system and standard procedures regarding 5s, lots of garbage scattered, dirty work surfaces and difficult to clean, everyone is not involved in 5s activities; 2) The results of the 5S assessment before improvement were 37.78% in the bad category. After planning the implementation of the improvement, the score rose to 80% in the good category

Abstract The objective of the paper was to describe the impact of freeze-drying conditions on hardness of lyophilizates obtained based on soft fruit pomace. Raspberry, cherry, and grape pomace from the pressing process carried out with a low-speed rotary press constituted a research material. Immediately after the pressing process, pomaces were placed in forms, frozen, and after freezing they were freeze-dried in the pressure of 20, 42, 63, 85 and 110 Pa. The obtained lyophilizates were subjected to the measurement of hardness with the use of texture meter equipped with a penetrometer in the form of a cone with a vertical angle of 30°. The increase of pressure during freeze-drying of samples was accompanied by the increase of hardness of the obtained lyophilizates, which may affect the energy consumption of the grinding process and the nature of rehydration of the final product. Moreover, the water content of raw material, pomaces, and lyophilizates was determined. The obtained results of measurements were subjected to a statistical analysis which showed that the pressure of freeze-drying significantly diversifies the hardness of the obtained lyophilizates.

Compaction simulators are frequently used in the formulation and process development of tablets, bringing about the advantages of flexibility, low material consumption, and high instrumentation to generate the most possible process understanding. However, their capability of resembling general aspects of rotary press compaction and their precision in simulating or mimicking sub-processes such as feeding and filling need to be systematically studied. The effect of material deformation behavior, blend composition, and feeding on tensile strength and simulation precision as compared with rotary presses of different scales is evaluated in this study. Generally, good simulation performance was found for the studied compaction simulator. Compaction profile-sensitivity was demonstrated for highly visco-plastic materials while shear-sensitivity in feeding was demonstrated for lubricated blends of ductile particles. Strategies for the compensation of both in compaction simulator experiments are presented by careful investigation of the compaction stress over time profiles and introduction of a compaction simulator-adapted shear number approach to account for differences in layout and operation mode between compaction simulator and rotary press, respectively. These approaches support the general aim of this study to provide a more straightforward determination of scaling process parameters between rotary press and compaction simulator and facilitate a quicker and more reliable process transfer.

The Industrial Revolution from the late 18th century on brought changes to reading. Printing processes developed further, in particular typesetting. The development of the steam-powered press, the rotary press, and cheaper paper-making accounted for the birth and rapid rise of the daily newspaper. ‘Modern reading’ also explains how the Industrial Revolution resulted in the expansion of towns and cities, which then became the privileged places for reading. The ever-growing audience of readers were reading newspapers and journals, sermons and manuals, but above all novels. The history of the novel is considered along with how reading affected people’s ideas, in terms of how they then wanted to live.

In the article results over of experimental researches of influence of different methods and depth of basic till of soil are brought in a crop rotation on the impurit of sowing of agricultural cultures and productivity of the row crop rotations on irrigation. By the purpose of the article was scientific to ground the optimal parameters of correlation of competitive cultures of irrigated agrocenosis; determination of the phytosanitary state of sowing depending on correlation of cultures; establishment of reaction of cultures on a different satiation by them row crop rotations of short rotary press For realization of researches used the field, laboratory, statistical and calculation-comparative methods. Authors came to the conclusion, that in the link of зернопросапної crop rotation on livery soils of south region at irrigation the best results were provided by the system of different depth dump treatment. Replacement of basic tillage of soil the nonmoldboard deep and shallow loosening results in worsening of the phytosanitary state of sowing, decline of the productivity of agricultural cultures on the productivity of crop rotation.
