This work is related to the diagnosis process in intelligent tutoring systems (ITS). This process is usually a complex task that relies on imperfect data. Indeed, learning data may suffer from imprecision, uncertainty, and sometimes contradictions. In this paper, we propose Diag-Skills a diagnosis model that uses the theory of belief functions to capture these imperfections. The objective of this work is twofold: first, a dynamic diagnosis of the evaluated skills, then, the prediction of the state of the non-evaluated ones. We conducted two studies to evaluate the prediction precision of Diag-Skills. The evaluations showed good precision in predictions and almost perfect agreement with the instructor when the model failed to predict the effective state of the skill. Our main premise is that these results will serve as a support to the remediation and the feedbacks given to the learners by providing them a proper personalization.

A dynamic diagnosis system of mine safety based on multi-data fusion is designed by combining the advantages of cloud computing and the Internet of things. The system’s framework is built with a three-tier model, and the construction of the cloud computing service platform provides essential support for mass data storage, processing, and security diagnosis reasoning. Simultaneously, using the relational database SQL Server 2017 and the object-oriented language C# to complete the design of an expert knowledge base and reasoning mechanism, and establish the diagnostic scoring system in the way of weighted sum. Therefore, based on the logical matching and reasoning between the collected data and the safety rules, the dynamic diagnosis of mine safety is realized.

In the winter of 2018, a major stratospheric sudden warming (SSW) event occurred in the Northern Hemisphere. This study performs a dynamic diagnosis on this 2018 SSW event and analyzes its possible impact on the weather over North America. The result shows that the ridge over Alaska in the mid-troposphere and the trough over the northeastern North America are the prominent tropospheric precursory signals before the occurrence of this SSW event. The signals appear 10 days before the SSW, which greatly enhances the propagation of the planetary wavenumber 2 from the troposphere to the extratropical stratosphere. The collapse process of stratospheric polar vortex indicates that this SSW is a typical vortex splitting event dominated by planetary wavenumber 2. Additionally, after the SSW onset, no reflection of the stratosphere on the tropospheric planetary waves is observed. Thus, this event can also be classified as an absorbing-type SSW event. A noticeable cold wave occurs in the northwestern North America within 10 days after the 2018 SSW. This cold wave is probably associated with the SSW-related west–east dipole, namely a ridge over Alaska and a trough over the northeastern North America in the mid-troposphere that lasted up to 10 days after the onset date. The composite analysis of the other seven SSW events with an emergence of similar mid-tropospheric circulation pattern after SSW onset date yields coincident 2-meter temperature anomalies in the northwestern North America, which confirms the above conclusion to some extent.

The study of neurodevelopmental disorders is beset with many issues and pitfalls. If its types are attempted to be explained at the molar developmental, environmental, and behavioral level, there is another explanation at the molecular brain or genetic level. The clinician can stumble into an error at any level while addressing these conditions. The origins and history of the neurodevelopmental model are followed in this chapter by sections on classification, theories, nature, types, and misperceptions. A lifespan approach, use of clinical reasoning, and decision making to sift critical signals from considerable noise during diagnosis are cautioned. The fears of making no diagnosis, patient's perspective, evidence-based practice, and static versus dynamic diagnosis, cultural practices, and other related issues in Indian scene are addressed. Ongoing and unexplored areas like use of animal models, delay versus difference approach, and contemporary parenting practices are explained with a status report on available treatments and engagements to be undertaken in future.

ESP is a sort of English related to a particular profession or subject. ESP courses must be based on the analysis of the needs of the learners. The demand analysis in foreign language teaching is an empirical investigation and research, which is a dynamic diagnosis process for the implementation and improvement of teaching. The needs analysis before the beginning of the course can provide the basis for the setting of the curriculum, and make the curriculum more targeted. In the course of the needs analysis, the educators can adjust the teaching content and teaching methods according to the actual situation. After the needs analysis of the curriculum, teachers can help the teachers collect feedback information through comparative analysis to provide the basis for the follow-up curriculum reform.
