This paper presented the elementary principle and the computation for waveguide eigenvalues by using mixed method (Quadric-FE-BEM). A general computer program based on the mixed method is programed, as an application, the cut–off wavelength of higher order modes in the rectangular waveguide are computed and the calculation results are well in agreement with the theoretical value. It has been shown that the mixed method is an effective method to analyze waveguide eigenvalues in engineering. At last, the cut-off wavelength of higher order modes in TEM Cell of homogeneous dielectric is also analyzed.

CVD (chemical vapor deposition) coatings such as TiC , TiN , Al 2 O 3 and so on are widely used as tools' surface preserved materials with corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Standard Gibbs free energy changes for reactions are widely used to approximately analyze the trends of substance reactions and phase transitions in chemical reactions, metallurgy processes, materials synthesis and processing. Hard coatings and thin films can be prepared by CVD process. Accurate calculation and plotting of the standard free energy changes and equilibrium constants for CVD TiC , TiN , Al 2 O 3 coatings reactions are realized using the developed general computer program. Only inputting the basic thermodynamic data tabulated in data books into the computer program, the relationships of the standard free energy changes and equilibrium constants for most reactions with the temperatures can be gained in the same diagrams.

We begin with a review of a well-known class of networks, Classical Bayesian (CB) nets (also called causal probabilistic nets by some). Given a situation which includes randomness, CB nets are used to calculate the probabilities of various hypotheses about the situation, conditioned on the available evidence. We introduce a new class of networks, which we call Quantum Bayesian (QB) nets, that generalize CB nets to the quantum mechanical regime. We explain how to use QB nets to calculate quantum mechanical conditional probabilities (in case of either sharp or fuzzy observations), and discuss the connection of QB nets to Feynman Path integrals. We give examples of QB nets that involve a single spin-[Formula: see text] particle passing through a configuration of two or three Stern—Gerlach magnets. For the examples given, we present the numerical values of various conditional probabilities, as calculated by a general computer program specially written for this purpose.

Radiocarbon dating laboratories deal with many types of data and calculations, which include information on received and dated samples, age calculations and storage of results, printed reports to submitters and graphs plotted from sample measurements. I describe a computer program, designed to run on any PC-compatible computer with a hard disk, that can handle all the functions of a conventional liquid scintillation counting radiocarbon dating laboratory.

The analysis of mechanical efficiency constitutes an important phase in the design analysis of gear drives. The objective of this investigation has been the development of a general algorithm for the determination of efficiency in split-power spur-gear trains. The model includes meshing losses only; for a more realistic estimation other sources can be considered separately. The systematic nature of the formulation, based on the dual correspondence between the kinematic structure of the gear drive and a labelled graph, allows a ready coding of the efficiency analysis in a general computer program. The numerical results are in line with those given by other authors using different methodologies.
