Female empowerment is a key concept in the current healthcare environment, especially in perinatal care. The educational process offered by universities to train future nurses and midwives has a great influence on their professional attitude and performance. To be able to educate in a way that encourages empowerment, it is essential for higher education institutions to know the starting point relating to students’ opinions on the subject. It was conducted a cross-sectional descriptive observational study, at the University of Huelva. It used a self-developed, semi-structured questionnaire, previously validated, to gather quantitative and qualitative data. A total of 117 nursing student were surveyed. Participants consider that general nurses supplement the work of the midwife and acts as a facilitator for the process of women’s empowerment in the perinatal period. They believe that the midwife is the professional figure of reference and the one in which they place greater trust. Improvement proposals for both types of professionals are based on improving training and resources. To encourage the development of the profession and improve the quality of care, it is essential to introduce features related to women’s empowerment in the undergraduate training of future nurses and midwives.

The aim of this study is to reveal the opinions of teacher candidates about gender perception according to gender, university and department variables. Survey model was used to reveal the current situation in the research. The study group consisted of 269 teacher candidates who are studying three different universities in Turkey. In the 2018-2019 academic year. The data of the study were collected using the “gender perception scale”, which consists of expressions about gender roles for women and men and developed by Altınova and Duyan (2013). According to the research findings, the gender variable has a high effect on the participants' perception of gender, and women's gender perception is more positive. The university variable has a medium effect on gender perception. The pre-service teachers' perception about gender is higher in the university, the foundation year of which is older. The variable of department has a low effect on gender perception. Based on the finding of the effect of the university variable that emerged in this research, gender equality index can be examined for all universities

In December 2020, the Catalan Parliament approved by unanimity the world’s first legislation of the concept of Isolating Gender Violence (IGV); in 2021, several parliaments are developing their own legislations. The elaboration of this concept and later this name has been a long and dialogic process among diverse scientists, policymakers, governments, parliaments, victims, survivors, social organizations and citizens. Since 2016, CREA (Community of Research on Excellence for All) has developed a process of elaborating the concept of IGV oriented to obtain the scientific, policy and social impact required to make a key contribution to overcoming gender violence. This process was simultaneous to the elaboration by the same researchers of the criteria of policy and societal impact of the EU’s scientific programme of research (Horizon Europe). This paper presents this dialogic research conducted to get the concept and the name IGV and the consequences of this concept along scientific, policy and social impact. The results show that the key for getting the name and the impacts of this scientific robust concept has been three of the main characteristics of the present EU research program Horizon Europe: the priority of social impact, the co-creation of knowledge between scientists and citizens and sustainability.

From a qualitative research in the cities of Fez and Meknes, this article analyses young women’s participation in the public sphere in Morocco. Specifically, we have had as reference the changes that have occurred since the so-called Arab Spring of 2011 where youths and feminism played an obvious role. Findings show that nine years after the Arab Spring, there has been no substantial improvements in the lives of Moroccan women in terms of gender equality. However, it is striking that they are very much present in participating in the public sphere from ‘grassroots’ (civic society, trade unions, etc.) levels where they find resources and spaces to get-together, create opportunities and make further progress in the fight for their rights.

The need to negotiate the economic hurdles in the country coupled with the culture of peddling wares have pushed young female traders into street trade. This study investigated the experiences of these youngsters in terms of risks and abuse while performing their trading activities. This study adopted the use of quantitative and qualitative methods to elicit data from the respondents. For the quantitative, a total of 120 copies of questionnaires were distributed to the respondents selected through a 2 stage sampling techniques in Ado Ekiti metropolis, southwest Nigeria. For the qualitative, 6 in depth interviews coupled with 4 key informants interviews were used to complement the quantitative data. Finding revealed that a majority (76.7 percent) of the street traders were teenagers and they were in the trade based on the instruction of their parent/guardians. Further, the majority (90.0 percent) of the respondents were aware of the risks involved in the trade. Verbal and physical abuse constitute a part of their experiences in the trade and verbal abuse was often used to force them into sexual intercourse. As regards how they handled the risks and abuse, majority discussed with friends on the trade while on the long run they adjust by keeping quiet regarding their experiences while on the trade. However, IDI revealed that quite a number of them have adjusted to the experiences and may not be willing to share their experiences if not under pressure. Averting the risks associated with street trade might be challenging considering the attitude of the victims and their significant others regarding how they handle these risks and abuse.
