To examine the effects of solar heat utilization, it is necessary to classify the solar-use climate in East Asia based on climatic factors that affect load reduction by solar heating systems. In this study, annual load simulations are performed on weather data in 842 sites in Japan to analyze the climatic factors that impact the load reduction effect of the solar heating system. The analysis results were based on three climatic factors that strongly affect the heating load of a building: heating degree day (HDD18-18), daily solar global horizontal irradiance, and solar-heat available days. Furthermore, to distinguish the climate for the use of solar heat in East Asia, climate classification was done according to three climatic factors using the weather data of 1176 sites in East Asia. Consequently, the climate of solar thermal utilization in East Asia can be classified into 88 areas. Based on the regional classification for solar heat utilization proposed in this study, it will be possible to examine the effect of load reduction and applicability according to the use of solar heat in each region in the future.

In order to solve the problem of low gas production of biogas digester fermented at natural temperature in winter and possibly freezing biogas digester in northern cold areas, the biogas digester combined with solar heating system is proposed to maintain the normal fermentation temperature of biogas digester and ensure the continuous and efficient gas production of biogas digester throughout the year. Through the experiment and analysis of the system, in cold area, the temperature of biogas digester can be maintained above 12.5 °C, which can meet the temperature requirements of normal fermentation in biogas digester, so it is concluded that developing solar heating biogas digester project is feasible in cold area.

Firstly, this paper introduces a solar heating system-the parabolic trough solar heating system .which uses the parabolic trough solar collector as the heat source. Secondly, experiments were given about the heating system, including the water temperature in the tank, the ambient temperature and the indoor temperature. Finally, we concluded the instantaneous efficiency and the loss coefficient of the system-the instantaneous efficiency of the system can reach 45% and the loss coefficient is ranged from 1.5 W/(m2•°C) to1.65W/(m2•°C).And in the condition of without auxiliary heat source and the ambient temperature is-5°C~3°C, the indoor temperature can reach 16 °C ~ 20 °C.

An experimental study has been carried out to enhance a solar air heater’s performance by integrating artificial roughness through baffles on the absorber plate. In this paper, the thermal and energy matrices analysis of a Solar Air Heater (SAH) roughened with V up perforated baffles have been investigated. The effect of various mass flow rates on the SAH was analyzed with and without baffles. Experimental outputs like outlet air temperature, useful energy (heat) gain and thermal efficiency were evaluated to confirm the performance improvement. The baffled absorber plate SAH was found to give the maximum thermal efficiency and useful energy gain of 89.3% and 1321.37 W at a mass flow rate of 0.0346 kg/s, 13% and 12% higher than SAH without baffle. This result showed that the V up-shaped ribs in flow arrangement provide better thermal performance than smooth plate SAH for the parameter investigated. Energy matrices analysis and carbon dioxide mitigation of the SAH system were also analyzed.
