The diffraction grating is an important device that makes use of the diffraction of light to produce spectra. Diffraction is also fundamental in other applications such as x-ray diffraction studies of crystals and holography. We proposed a design of Bragg grating waveguide to investigate the behavior of diffraction of light at different incident angle and wavelengths. Using finite difference time domain (FDTD) photonics simulation software the performance of proposed waveguide is observed in term of output power, electric field, diffraction efficiency (DE) and signal to noise ratio (SNR). It is found that the proposed waveguide provides better diffracted light with electric field distribution with 1.969 v/m, Diffraction efficiency 8%, and SNR (25.5 dB) at 1.55µm wavelength and 00 degrees of incident angle

An optically addressed liquid crystal modulator for wavefront control of 1053 nm laser beam is reported in this paper. Its working principle, control method and spatial phase modulation capability are mainly introduced. A new method of measuring the relationship between gray level and phase retardation is proposed. The rationality of the curve is further confirmed by designing special experiments. According to the curve, several spatial phase distributions have been realized by this home-made device. The results show that, not only the maximum phase retardation is larger than $2\unicode[STIX]{x03C0}$ for 1053 nm wavelength, but also the control accuracy is high. Compared with the liquid crystal on silicon type spatial light modulator, this kind of modulator has the advantages of generating smooth phase distribution and avoiding the black-matrix effect.

When a nematic liquid crystal layer is brought in contact with a photosensitive polymer, on which a holographic grating is recorded by two laser beams with opposite circular polarization, due to a spatial modulation of the direction of the local optical axis, the photopolymer modulates the anchoring conditions for NLC in a similar way. As a result, a similar grating is induced in NLC with the enhanced diffraction efficiency and specific diffraction properties controlled by electric field.6 Here we show that, even in the case of a typical finite value of the anchoring energy, the numerical modeling confirms the characteristic asymmetric diffraction of the circularly polarized reconstructing beam and exchange by energy between the zero and first-order diffracted beams. Some other properties, such as reduced diffraction efficiency, appearance of higher diffraction orders and too-large optical phase retardation of a nematic cell at the areas occupied by gratings, can also be modeled by assuming some corrugation of the surface.

A spectral beam splitting concentrated photovoltaic/thermal (SBS CPVT) system is a new technology in PV areas . In order to split the sunlight, the grating lens is used in this study. The tool of this study is G-Solver software which simulates the diffraction efficiency of visible light and infrared light of the blazed and binary grating lens.  The aim of this paper is to analyze the potential of the diffraction efficiency of grating lens when applied in SBS CPVT. The result show that binary grating, the highest diffraction efficiency for the visible light is also almost unchanged for the aspect ratio from 1.4 to 2, but the peak wavelength shift from around 360 nm to 510 nm, while, for IR light, the diffraction efficiency decrease from aspect ratio 1.4 to 2. On the other hand, blazed grating, The highest diffraction efficiency for the visible light is almost unchanged for the aspect ratio from 1.4 to 2, but the peak wavelengths shift from around 350 nm to 500 nm. While IR light, the diffraction efficiency decrease with the aspect ratio 1.4 to 2
