This case study will examine the implementation of an integrated suite of pipeline integrity management software tools and discuss related challenges during configuration and rollout phases. In this case, pipeline facility data was migrated from paper sources into a centralized database where it is regularly maintained and provides basis for related operations and integrity management components. Existing integrity management procedures and guidelines formed the core specifications for configuration of engineering assessment software tools. Using these documents the software suite now standardizes and automates the processing of ILI data, condition assessment, risk assessment and ECDA (NACE SP0502) management. The system produces a documented integrity plan customized to report specified key performance indicators and is integrated with the enterprise work order management system. The results of the engineering assessments and planning are maintained in the enterprise database and used to power web-based reporting available to a wide range of personnel inside the organization. Challenges include addressing gaps in data, bringing procedural documents and operating groups together, applying the system to existing operations, and ongoing support. This case study is intended for operators considering an integrated pipeline integrity management software solution or looking to improve the system currently in place inside their organization.

The aim of this paper is to establish an international framework for sustainable project management in engineering, to make up the lack of research in this field, and to propose a scientific theoretical basis for the establishment of a new project management system. The article adopts literature review, mathematical programming algorithm and case study as the research method. The literature review applied the visual clustering research method and analyzed the results of 21-year research in this field. As a result, the project management system was found to have defects and deficiencies. A mathematical model was established to analyze the composition and elements of the optimized international project management system. The case study research selected large bridges for analysis and verified the superiority and practicability of the theoretical system. Thus, the goal of sustainable development of bridges was achieved. The value of this re-search lies in establishing a comprehensive international project management system model; truly integrating sustainable development with project management; providing new research frames and management models to promote the sustainable development of the construction industry.

Introduction: Design thinking, an innovative problem-solving approach, has gained wide popularity in healthcare disciplines. The aim of this work is to improve outpatients’ experiences in hospital pharmacies in two hospitals in Asir region, Saudi Arabia. Methods: The design thinking approach, adopted from Stanford University’s D-School, was used in this study. Results: Several problems were identified: lack of comfortable environment in the pharmacies’ waiting area, lack of a queue management system, and workflow inefficiencies related to ordering and supplies of medicines. A prototype was proposed to overcome these challenges. Discussion and Conclusion: The design thinking approach helped in identifying end-user (patients visiting outpatient pharmacies) values and desires and provided an understanding of their struggles. It also proposed tailored solutions that could improve patients’ experiences while using the services of the outpatient pharmacies.
