The work system method was developed iteratively with the overarching goal of helping business professionals understand IT-reliant systems in organizations. It uses general systems concepts selectively, and sometimes implicitly. For example, a work system has a boundary, but its inputs are treated implicitly rather than explicitly. This chapter asks whether the further development of the work system method might benefit from integrating general systems concepts more completely. After summarizing aspects of the work system method, it dissects some of the underlying ideas and questions how thoroughly even basic systems concepts are applied. It also asks whether and how additional systems concepts might be incorporated beneficially. The inquiry about how to use additional system ideas is of potential interest to people who study systems in general and information systems in particular because it deals with bridging the gap between highly abstract concepts and practical applications.

Kata Kunci : Evaluasi kinerja, Sistem Informasi ERP, Metode Pieces Framework AbstractThe use of information systems at this time has been widely used by companies, one of them is PT, HK Realtindo Jakarta. Implementation of information systems used by some parts of one part of financial accounting and sales marketing. Research using Pieces Framework method by measuring six variables such as performance, Information / data, Economic, Control, Efficiency, and service. This method is used to measure the level of acceptance of information system applications that have been applied to the user. The use of this information system has long been used so that the necessary research on the system, in this study there are 30 questionnaires are processed and consists of 20 indicators of questions. In this research yield data of all good variable with total performance appraisal 3,81, Information / data equal to 4,11, Economic mengahsilkan value 4,07, securty/control get point value 4,13, Efficiency with data value 4,13, and service get value 4.06 From the results of this research ERP information system is running well but the company still need melakakukan improvements to provide satisfaction in the use of the system informationt Keywords: Performance Evaluation, ERP Information System, Method Pieces Framework

With increased use of telehealth to provide healthcare services, bringing telehealth technology out of experimental settings into real life settings, it is imperative to gain a deeper understanding of mechanisms underlying the assimilation of teleheath systems. Yet, there is little understanding of how information systems are assimilated by organizations, more work is then warranted to understand how telehealth can be integrated into administrative and clinical practices and to identify factors that may impinge onto telehealth integration. Borrowing from institutional, structural and organizational learning theories, the authors develop a multilevel model for understanding assimilation of telehealth systems. Their study addresses limitations of past work and will be helpful for guiding research and managerial actions while integrating telehealth in the workplace.

S. Alter's Work System Method is used in advancing the understanding and analyses of service innovation Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) from a business systems viewpoint. We propose to use this framework to distinguish what usually characterizes IT-enabled BPO service innovations, and which implications could be drawn for the underlying IS's design. We focus our analysis guided by the Traffic point banking BPO case study in Egypt. This paper brings forward important IS design considerations to the attention of systems analysts and designers to take into consideration while working on the conceptions of Innovative Service BPOs.

In this chapter, the authors analyze recent developments linking design science to systems analysis and design research and the growing area of the work system method proposed by Steven Alter. As a result, possible directions in a research agenda related to the incorporation of work system method ideas in systems analysis and design are provided. These follow the conceptual framework for IS research developed in 2004 by Hevner, March, Park and Ram.

This article describes proposed content of an online toolkit for users of the work system modeling method (WSMM), an extension of the work system method (WSM), which was developed to help business professionals understand IT-reliant systems and collaborate with IT professionals. A summary of work system theory (WST) and WSM provides a background. A two-dimensional design space for modeling methods illustrates WSMM's context. Two limitations of WSMM imply the need for a toolkit that overcomes those limitations. An auto rental example is used to illustrate a series of modeling, analysis, and design modules related to different stakeholder purposes. Most of the modules reflect components of Word documents used as outlines to produce over 700 management briefings, mostly by MBA and Executive MBA students, between 2003 and 2017. A concluding section summarizes the main ideas, explains how the use of different modules based on the work system metaphor flexibly supports systems analysis and design, and identifies challenges for future research.

University can’t be separated from the Tri Dharma namely in the fields of education, research and community service. Institute for Research and Community Services Lancang Kuning University has launched a strategic framework for research through the Research Master Plan (RIP) and the Roadmap Research to support research results and superior quality. One of them by building an Information Systems Research Activities Administration and Community Services seeks to streamline the work of the staff LPPM and also makes it easy for researchers in particular lecturers and reviewers in their duties. In this system, the researchers register their proposals online. Furthermore, staff LPPM recaps the number of proposals on all types of grants that is then distributed to the reviewer to assess. Administration Information System Research Activities and Community Service is used method of analysis Work System Framework.
