The main aim of this paper is to evaluate and select a Seventh Party logistic service provider as a Multi criteria Decision Making Problem using Electre Method. This method allows in outranking and choosing a promising 7PL among the alternatives by consider various parameters. Evaluation and selection procedure is discussed in detail. Electre method is often used for ranking among alternatives.

Purpose The purpose of this research is to first explore various third party logistic service provider supply chain enablers. Thereafter the interrelationship amongst the various supply chain enablers has been studied using ISM Methodology. Despite the complex relationships third party logistic service providers (3PLs) share with their clients or firms, they often attract a demand owing to the flexibility and competitive edge they provide to their client firms in adapting to the rapidly changing market conditions, focusing on their core competencies and developing long-term growth strategies for them. Choosing and evaluating the right third-party logistic service provider is an important responsibility for logistic managers. This largely depends on selecting appropriate 3PLs supply chain enablers that assess the 3PLs on different fronts. Design/methodology/approach This paper presents an ISM approach for studying the interrelationships between various 3PLs enablers and accordingly constructing a hierarchical structure of them. Findings The results suggest that delivery, service reliability and risk and uncertainty factors have the highest importance. Research limitations/implications Selection of the 3PLs is a critical issue when they are required to be selected by the company at the global level. This often requires doing a comparative study for both domestic as well as global service providers. Choosing appropriate supply chain enablers as the basis for selection of 3PLs therefore will serve as a research topic to be further explored both by researchers as well as company managers. Further studying the inter-relationships amongst various supply chain enablers will provide basis to managers to justify their choice. Originality/value The novelty of the research lies in the application of methodology to the case of third-party logistic service provider selection

This study examines critical factors in affecting halal business management, particularly challenges in Halal logistics implementation faced by the logistics service provider as well as its potential and opportunities for Halal based business in Indonesia. An In-depth, semi-structured interview is conducted to deepen the understanding and to provide detailed data of the study. The study found that there are several factors influencing halal logistics implementation. In terms of business strategy, there are external and internal factors that affect halal logistics practices. Such as market-driven, perception benefit of halal logistic certification followed by customer loyalty, challenges in implementing halal logistics, the complexity of operation halal logistics, and invariably regulation factors. All of those factors have become a prior factor in implementing halal logistics practices. The findings can provide a guideline in how to implement halal logistics practices in logistic service provider business, especially in transportation and warehousing process, along with the expected result for its business performance.

Abstract The process of Outsourcing Logistics Service (OLS) is deemed incipient in the management of organizations, not only because of the operational problems it presents, but also of its difficulties fitting into the company’s overall strategy. The present theoretical study, building on the resource-based view of the firm, aims to propose a framework that guides managers in developing strategies to OLS starting from the operational structure to establish the necessary resources, capabilities, and routines. In addition, taken into account is the importance of analyzing risks and resilience in the environment, concomitantly with the analysis of the operational structure. Thus, four questions were developed, aimed at leading operations managers to reflect on the development of the strategy. The framework proposed for OLS considers the supply chain management department as the main interlocutor of the strategy. This framework can be adapted according with the necessity of the contracting company, and its main intention is to enable the establishment of a project that contemplates the necessary resources, the capabilities (criteria), and the operational routines (subcriteria) for the selection of a logistics service provider in the market, one which truly addresses the needs of the organization. This framework is already intrinsic in the practical actions of the authors, because of their extensive advisory activity over the last five years in OLS to logistics service provider. In addition, it is worth mentioning that so far in the tacit applications of this framework there has been no application similar to another.

Abstract The cyanidation process is the most common method applied for the extraction of gold and silver in the hydrometallurgy industry, in which, sodium cyanide is used as a leaching agent. Therefore, the wastewater of gold mines contains a wide variety of cyanide ions needing to be removed before these wastewaters can be discharged to the receiving environments. In this study, a fuzzy multi-attribute decision-making approach (Fuzzy Delphi AHP and Fuzzy TOPSIS) was used for selecting the best cyanide removal method from the wastewater of Muteh gold mine. According to the experts' opinion, three methods including calcium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite were selected as alternatives. Then, by introducing the criteria influencing decision making, including cyanide removal ability, cost of process, amount of material consumed, time, pH, ease of performance and safety, and performing separated experiments, the criteria for each of three methods were determined. Finally, sodium hypochlorite was proposed as the best method for eliminating cyanide from wastewater. It was found that the rank of methods was as sodium hypochlorite (0.517) > calcium hypochlorite (0.474) > hydrogen peroxide (0.463).

Supplier selection is an important component of supply chain management in today?s global competitive environment. Hence, the evaluation and selection of suppliers have received considerable attention in the literature. Many attributes of suppliers, other than cost, are considered in the evaluation and selection process. Therefore, the process of evaluation and selection of suppliers is a multi-criteria decision making process. The methodology adopted to solve the supplier selection problem is intuitionistic fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution). Generally, TOPSIS is based on the concept of minimum distance from the positive ideal solution and maximum distance from the negative ideal solution. We examine the deficiencies of using only one metric function in TOPSIS and propose the use of spherical metric function in addition to the commonly used metric functions. For empirical supplier selection problems, more than one metric function should be used.
