Fourteen U.S. Navy personnel with Aegis Combat System, Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS), and Non-NTDS operational experience participated in an experiment designed to investigate the impact of proposed workstation designs on operator performance, system usability, and training. Human performance data were collected on a sample of operational procedures typically performed in a Combat Information Center (CIC) for a current Navy Combat System and a prototype workstation. The prototype was developed using specific human factors design principles with the goal of reducing training time, improving operator retention of skills for system operation, reducing errors in system operation, improving operator efficiency (e.g., speed & accuracy of performance), and improving user's satisfaction with the user-computer interface. This paper reports only the preliminary results for data collected from seven subjects who performed procedures using the prototype workstation.

The aim of the research was to determine the impact of biofuels from waste materials of plant and animal origin on the parameters of the common rail power supply system in the utility engine. The tests included identification of power system operation parameters in the whole load range of the tested engine, taking into account the limit and diagnostic parameters of the injectors operation. Then, for certain parameters, the engine injectors were tested on the test bench: injection pressure in the range of 25-135 MPa, injection time in the range of 200-1600 μs. In the tests, as reference fuel for testing injectors were used diesel fuel and three types of methyl esters of higher fatty acids: vegetable, animal and WCO origin. The measurements for individual fuels were made in the operating temperature range 30-60°C. The tests have shown significant changes in the volume of the fuel injection rates depending on the fuel used. Particularly, visible changes concerned the power system operation parameters for high engine speeds and the maximum working pressure of the common rail system in the engine.

This paper presents a novel application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to analyze the impact of oil price changes on the efficiency of banks. Factors that affect the efficiency of banks have been of interest to researchers in various geographical regions. With a special focus on oil price changes, we investigate the determinants of bank efficiency in the Middle Eastern Oil-Exporting (MEOE) countries where macro-financial conditions are substantially affected by swings in oil prices. Our analysis consists of two stages: (i) measuring the efficiency scores of banks using the Semi-Oriented Radial Measure (SORM) DEA model, (ii) investigating the impact of alternative indicators of oil prices on the estimated efficiency scores after controlling for key bank-specific and country-specific variables. The analysis is based on an un-balanced panel data of banks operating in the Middle Eastern Oil-Exporting countries over the period of 2001–2011. Our findings reveal that oil price changes affect the efficiency of banks in the MEOE countries through both direct and indirect channels. In addition, we find that Islamic banks in the region are less responsive to oil price changes than commercial and investment banks.

From the viewpoint of improving heating quality and saving energy, the paper proposes the use of Joint Heating Systems about Solar Collectors and Ground Source Heat Pump (JHSSCGSHP). The typical architecture in Shenyang is analyzed about dynamic simulation by the use of JHSSCGSHP. MATLAB is used to operate comparative analysis of simulation. It focuses on the impact of water temperature of inlet and outlet of heat pump systems in different series of separate heating of ground source heat pump and JHSSCGSHP. Thus the influence of the system operation efficiency based on different operation modes is compared.

The article shows the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in ensuring sustainable development of the country. The types of CSR and its features in various states are considered. The author describes the economy of the Russian Federation and its impact on the system of corporate social responsibility in the country. The high profitability of resource-extractive industries and their use of the country’s national wealth defines their special role in CSR not only towards their employees through wages and the allocation of social benefits from profit, but also to the society. It is shown that the established country’s political system significantly influences the possibility of implementing a system of corporate social responsibility. The author characterizes the significant regulatory and stimulating role of the state in social development through taxation and the structure of government spending. When assessing the financial conditions of CSR, the author analyses the impact of capital outflow on its development. Corporate social responsibility also includes the responsibility of organizations to the environment. The author provides a rating assessment of Russian oil and gas, mining and metallurgical companies openness in terms of environmental responsibility.

The aim of the present paper is an analysis of the impact of the government economic instrument, the „Family 500+” programme on spending decisions of Polish people. For this purpose, financial conditions of families living in two Polish cities: Radom and Chełm were being observed (in the light of the own diagnosis). As a part of a survey, people were asked questions regarding the amount of monthly family income, savings and credits, types of goods and services purchased owing to the  „500+” programme for the benefit of children and young people under 18. The paper ends with conclusions resulting from the conducted research.
