The basic results of calculation and research works carried out in the process of creation of power unit of regional passenger airplanes’ family are given. The design features of the propulsion engines and engine of the auxiliary power plant are described. The aforementioned propulsion system includes propulsion engines D-436-148 and engine AI-450-MS of auxiliary power plant. In order to comply with the requirements of Section 4 of the ICAO standard (noise reduction of the aircraft in site), in part of ensuring the noise reduction of engines, when creating the power plant of the An-148/An-158 aircraft family, a single- and double-layer acoustic filler was used in the structure of the engine nacelle and air intake. The use of electronic system for automatic control of propulsion engines such as FADEC and its integration into the digital airborne aircraft complex ensured the operation of engines, included in the power plant provided with high specific fuel consumption, as well as increased the level of automation of the power plant control and monitoring, and ensured aircraft automation landing in ICAO category 3A. In addition, the use of the aforementioned electronic system, allowed to operate the power plant of the aircraft in accordance with technical status. The use of the AI-450-MS auxiliary power plant with an electronic control system such as FADEC, and the drive of the service compressor from a free turbine, eliminated the effect of changes in power and air takeoff, on the deviation of the engine from optimal mode, which also minimized the fuel consumption. The use of fuel metering system TIS-158, allowed to ensure control of its condition and assemblies, without the use of auxiliary devices, built-in control means. In the fire protection system, the use of the electronic control and monitor unit, as well as the use of digital serial code for the exchange of information between the elements of the system and the aircraft systems, has reduced the number of connections, which increased the reliability of the system and reduced its weight characteristics.

Abstract The freight transport sector is a low profit and high competition business and therefore has less ability to invest in research and development in the field of autonomous vehicles (AV) than the private car industry. There are already different levels of automation technologies in the transport industry, but most of these are serving niche demands and answers have yet to be found about whether it would be worthwhile to industrialise these technologies. New innovations from different fields are constantly changing the freight traffic industry but these are less disruptive than on other markets. The aim of this article is to show the current state of development of freight traffic with regards to AVs and analyse which future directions of development might be viable. The level of automation is very different in the case of different transport modes and most probably the technology will favour road transport over other, less environmentally harmful traffic modes.

Human-robotic interaction system are increasingly becoming integrated into industrial, commercial and emergency service agencies. It is critical that human operators understand and trust automation when these systems support and even make important decisions. The following study focused on human-in-loop telerobotic system performing a reconnaissance operation. Twenty-four subjects were divided into groups based on level of automation (Low-Level Automation (LLA), and High-Level Automation (HLA)). Results indicated a significant difference between low and high word level of control in hit rate when permanent error occurred. In the LLA group, the type of error had a significant effect on the hit rate. In general, the high level of automation was better than the low level of automation, especially if it was more reliable, suggesting that subjects in the HLA group could rely on the automatic implementation to perform the task more effectively and more accurately.

AbstractThe aim of this study was to develop an analytical method, which separates selected chlorinated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (Cl-PAHs) from fat, and fat-free or vegetable matrices. The method contains extraction-, cleanup-, and quantification steps. Integration of automated analysis actions, as in extraction and cleanup, should enhance the reproducibility, precision, and efficiency of the method. This was confirmed by validation of the overall analytical process. In the end, as a performance check, the developed method was applied on different matrices, e.g., tea, rice, grilled pork, and eel and predator eggs, as a non-food example. An inter-laboratory check was initiated as replacement for the lack of proficiency tests. Due to the high level of automation, both personnel and time effort are very low. In addition, the method is very robust with regard to the variability of the solvent selection and the loss of analytes by evaporation to dryness. It could be demonstrated that the developed method is applicable to different matrices with reproducible and precise results. This applies also to low-fat food and feed.

The high-temperature synthesis of silicon carbide (SiC) in an electro-thermal fluidized bed reactor (EFB) has advantages, in comparison with the production in resistance furnaces, in terms of specific energy consumption, productivity and the level of automation of the technological process. The basic equations of the fluidized-bed carbide formation process model are presented in the paper. The results of calculating the synthesis parameters of finely dispersed SiC in the stationary operation mode of the EFB reactor are also presented. The correspondence between the calculated and available experimental results on the output of the final product is shown.
