School as an institution that has a primary mission to educate and develop the character of the nation through a series of learning activities. School is an organization whose success goals are largely determined by the leadership style and organizational paradigm that is shared by all school components. Schools as organizations have business processes as a collection of procedures or activities that can define business objectives or objectives, generally in the context of organizational structures that can define functional roles and relationships within the organization. The main purpose of BPMN is to provide a notation that is easy to use and can be understood by everyone involved in business, which includes business analysts who model business processes, technical developers who build systems that carry out business, and various levels of management that must be able to read and understand processes diagram quickly so that it can help in decision making. To measure the complexity of a business process, complexity metrics are measured. This study uses the Cognitve Information Complexity Measure (CICM) method. Researchers took 3 SOPs of national education standards namely SOP curriculum development resulting in a standard value of complexity 425.1496, SOP for the Learning Process produced a standard value of complexity 2091.333 and SOP for Teacher Recruitment resulted in a standard value of complexity of 1145.49.

ABSTRACT Organizations have sought competitive cost advantage in the acquisition cycle through software associated with e-procurement, expense management, payment technology, data mining, ERP “bolt-ons,” and regulatory compliance. The net effect of advancing technology has been a convergence of the different business processes operating within the acquisition cycle such that the potential exists for one basic procurement process and payment tool to support multiple business applications, greatly improving organizational efficiency. Thus, this paper examines (1) processes within the traditional acquisition cycle and the technological and control drivers that sustain them, (2) how emerging technologies (in particular, card-based payment technologies) are disrupting the acquisition cycle, and (3) how new technology represents a paradigm shift for accountants and educators that requires a significant reconsideration of the nature of and balance between key controls, risks, and efficiency. The paper also examines the impact of acquisition cycle change on organizational structures, the role of accountants, accounting education, and student preparation for the competitive market.

This chapter presents an agent-based architecture for integrating organizational knowledge repositories and business processes orchestrated by a workflow management system. This architecture proactively provides relevant knowledge to workflow tasks considering their context, and stores the information generated by its execution for future requirements. It describes components of the architecture, models a multi-agent system that enables the integration, presents a strategy to annotate and retrieval knowledge of non-structured information sources, and defines a new workflow pattern to be used in knowledge intensive tasks in order to make possible the knowledge provision. This architecture allows workers to count, in a proactive way, with all necessary information for the task executions without suspending their activities to retrieve information scattered in the organization. It reduces the wasted time in manual knowledge searches included in mostly knowledge management approaches.

This research aims to apply models extracted from the many-body quantum mechanics to describe social dynamics. It is intended to draw macroscopic characteristics of organizational communities starting from the analysis of microscopic interactions with respect to the node model. In this chapter, the authors intend to give an answer to the following question: which models of the quantum physics are suitable to represent the behaviour and the evolution of business processes? The innovative aspects of the project are related to the application of models and methods of the quantum mechanics to social systems. In order to validate the proposed mathematical model, the authors intend to define an open-source platform able to model nodes and interactions within a network, to visualize the macroscopic results through a digital representation of the social networks.

Government establishments are most times highly involved in different reorganization programs. The processes in e-Government are diversified and complex, hence the need for an appropriate training and learning strategy for governmental employees. Changing business processes and organizational structures always mean that the personnel have to be familiar with the changed procedures. Consequently, the employees need to be trained to develop capacity for new responsibilities. Existing methods of learning and training do not make provision for certain category of employees such as the visually impaired. They do not provide an alternative learning platform for government of employees that are not physically challenged. Many studies have demonstrated the value of several learning platforms, including mobile learning (m-Learning) but with the problems of access barriers and streamlined participation of most learners. The purpose of this chapter is to propose a voice-based e-Learning system, also known as voice-learning (v-Learning) as a variant of the m-Learning with particular relevance for the visually and mobility impaired learners. V-Learning makes possible ubiquitous learning in e-Government and provides additional capacity and speed of response to help facilitate change. Cost reduction is also achieved and there is no shortage of teachers.

In cross-organisational business interactions, integrating different partners raises interoperability problems especially on the technical level. The internal processes and interfaces of the participating partners are often pre-existing and have to be taken as given. This imposes restrictions on the possible solutions for the problems which occur when partner processes are integrated. The aim of this chapter is the presentation of a three-tier framework for managing and implementing interoperable and crossorganizational business processes. Thereby the authors want to fill the gap currently existing between processes defined on a strategic level and executed models. We describe a solution which supports rapid prototyping by combining a model-driven framework for cross-organisational business processes with an agent-based approach for flexible process execution. We show how the W3C recommendation for Semantic Web service descriptions can be combined with the model-driven approach for rapid service integration.

Modeling is a key task in order to analyze, understand, and improve business processes and organizational structures, and to support the design, implementation, and management of information and communication technologies in general and knowledge management systems (KMSs) in particular. Process-oriented knowledge management (Maier, 2004; Maier & Remus, 2003) is a promising approach to provide the missing link between knowledge management (KM) and business strategy, and to bridge the gap between the human-oriented and technology-oriented views (e.g., Hansen, Nohria, & Tierney, 1999; Zack, 1999). However, existing modeling approaches for business processes, including their extensions for KM, still lack concepts to support knowledge work, which is often unstructured, creative, and learning and communication intensive. Recently, the activity theory has been proposed to provide concepts to analyze knowledge work (e.g., Blackler, 1995), but it has not yet been integrated with business process modeling for designing KM initiatives and KMSs. The following sections analyze the characteristics of knowledge work, distinguish important perspectives for modeling in KM, and discuss extensions of process modeling approaches including activity modeling. Then, the process-oriented and the activity-oriented perspectives on knowledge work are compared and connected by means of the concept of knowledge stance.

Industries have undergone three fundamental transformation processes that were revolutionary. Following these processes, industries have been confronted with the phenomenon of Industry 4.0, known as the 4th Industrial Revolution, that is acknowledged as a new transformation process. The basic dynamics of this phenomenon include smart robots, simulation, the internet of things, cloud, additive manufacturing, and big data. It is of utmost importance for businesses that are involved in this process, that are new and trying to adapt to the process, to be prepared and adapt to the effects of Industry 4.0 dynamics. These dynamics lead to significant developments in business models, business processes, organizational structures, employees, and human resource processes. When Industry 4.0 and its dynamics are evaluated in general, businesses that follow the process and make necessary managerial adjustments will be ahead of the competition.

The challenges that Cloud computing poses to business processes integration, emphasize the need for addressing two major issues: (i) which integration approach should be used allowing an adequate description of interaction aspects of the composed software components ? (ii) how are these interaction descriptions stored and shared to allow other software artifacts to (re)use them ? To address these issues, in this paper the authors propose an Agent Interaction Protocols (AiP)-based approach for reusing and aggregating existing Cloud services to create a new desired business application. The proposed approach facilitates rapid development and provisioning of composite Cloud services by specifying what to compose as an AiP. Furthermore, the authors develop an agent-based architecture that supports flexible scaling of business processes in a virtualized Cloud computing environment. The main goal of the proposed architecture is to address and tackle interoperability challenges at the Cloud application level. It solves the interoperability issues between heterogeneous Cloud services environments by offering a harmonized API. Also, it enables the deployment of applications at public, private or hybrid multi-Cloud environments.
