Abstract We establish an explicit correspondence of Einstein gravity on the squashed spheres that are the U(1) bundles over ℂℙm to the Kaluza-Klein AdS gravity on the tori. This allows us to map the Ricci-flat Kerr metrics in odd dimensions with all equal angular momenta to charged Kaluza-Klein AdS black holes that can be lifted to become singly rotating M-branes and D3-branes. Furthermore, we find maps between Ricci-flat gravitational instantons to the AdS domain walls. In particular the supersymmetric bolt instantons correspond to domain walls that can be interpreted as distributed M-branes and D3-branes, whilst the non-supersymmetric Taub-NUT solutions yield new domain walls that can be lifted to become solutions in M-theory or type IIB supergravity. The correspondence also inspires us to obtain a new superpotential in the Kaluza-Klein AdS gravity in four dimensions.

We discuss the vertical dimensional reduction of M-sbranes to domain walls in D=7 and D=4, by dimensional reduction on Ricci-flat four-manifolds and seven-manifolds. In order to interpret the vertically-reduced five-brane as a domain wall solution of a dimensionally-reduced theory in D=7, it is necessary to generalize the usual Kaluza–Klein ansatz, so that the three-form potential in D=11 has an additional term that can generate the necessary cosmological term in D=7. We show how this can be done for general four-manifolds, extending previous results for toroidal compactifications. By contrast, no generalization of the Kaluza–Klein ansatz is necessary for the compactification of M-theory to a D=4 theory that admits the domain-wall solution coming from the membrane in D=11.

Abstract We study rotating global AdS solutions in five-dimensional Einstein gravity coupled to a multiplet complex scalar within a cohomogeneity-1 ansatz. The onset of the gravitational and scalar field superradiant instabilities of the Myers-Perry-AdS black hole mark bifurcation points to black resonators and hairy Myers-Perry-AdS black holes, respectively. These solutions are subject to the other (gravitational or scalar) instability, and result in hairy black resonators which contain both gravitational and scalar hair. The hairy black resonators have smooth zero-horizon limits that we call graviboson stars. In the hairy black resonator and graviboson solutions, multiple scalar components with different frequencies are excited, and hence these are multioscillating solutions. The phase structure of the solutions are examined in the microcanonical ensemble, i.e. at fixed energy and angular momenta. It is found that the entropy of the hairy black resonator is never the largest among them. We also find that hairy black holes with higher scalar wavenumbers are entropically dominant and occupy more of phase space than those of lower wavenumbers.

Abstract We study circle compactifications of 6d superconformal field theories giving rise to 5d rank 1 and rank 2 Kaluza-Klein theories. We realise the resulting theories as M-theory compactifications on local Calabi-Yau 3-folds and match the prepotentials from geometry and field theory. One novelty in our approach is that we include explicit dependence on bare gauge couplings and mass parameters in the description which in turn leads to an accurate parametrisation of the prepotential including all parameters of the field theory. We find that the resulting geometries admit “fibre-base” duality which relates their six-dimensional origin with the purely five-dimensional quantum field theory interpretation. The fibre-base duality is realised simply by swapping base and fibre curves of compact surfaces in the local Calabi-Yau which can be viewed as the total space of the anti-canonical bundle over such surfaces. Our results show that such swappings precisely occur for surfaces with a zero self-intersection of the base curve and result in an exchange of the 6d and 5d pictures.

The relativistic symmetric tensor fields are, in four dimensions, the right candidates to describe Higher Spin Fields. Their highest spin content is isolated with the aid of covariant conditions, discussed within a group theory framework, in which auxiliary fields remove the lower intrinsic angular momenta sectors. These conditions are embedded within a Lagrangian Quantum Field theory which describes an Higher Spin Field interacting with a Classical background. The model is invariant under a (B.R.S.) symmetric unconstrained tensor extension of the reparametrization symmetry, which include the Fang–Fronsdal algebra in a well defined limit. However, the symmetry setting reveals that the compensator field, which restore the Fang–Fronsdal symmetry of the free equations of motion, is in the existing in the framework and has a relevant geometrical meaning. The Ward identities coming from this symmetry are discussed. Our constraints give the result that the space of the invariant observables is restricted to the ones constructed with the Highest Spin Field content. The quantum extension of the symmetry reveals that no new anomaly is present. The role of the compensator field in this result is fundamental.

We investigate numerically fR gravity effects on certain AdS/CFT tools including holographic entanglement entropy and two-point correlation functions for a charged single accelerated Anti-de Sitter black hole in four dimensions. We find that both holographic entanglement entropy and two-point correlation functions decrease by increasing the acceleration parameter A, matching perfectly with literature. Taking into account the fR gravity parameter η, the decreasing scheme of the holographic quantities persist. However, we observe a transition-like point where the behavior of the holographic tools changes. Two regions meeting at such a transit-like point are shown up. In such a nomination, the first one is associated with slow accelerating black holes while the second one corresponds to a fast accelerating solution. In the first region, the holographic entanglement entropy and two-point correlation functions decrease by increasing the η parameter. However, the behavioral situation is reversed in the second one. Moreover, a cross-comparison between the entropy and the holographic entanglement entropy is presented, providing another counterexample showing that such two quantities do not exhibit similar behaviors.

Abstract A superpotential deformation that is cubic in one of the chiral superfields of ABJM makes the latter theory flow into a new $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 superconformal phase. This is holographically dual to a warped AdS4×wS7 solution of M-theory equipped with a squashed and stretched metric on S7. We determine the spectrum of spin-2 operators of the cubic deformation at low energies by computing the spectrum of Kaluza-Klein (KK) gravitons over the dual AdS4 solution. We calculate, numerically, the complete graviton spectrum and, analytically, the spectrum of gravitons that belong to short multiplets. We also use group theory to assess the structure of the full KK spectrum, and conclude that $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 supermultiplets cannot be allocated KK level by KK level. This phenomenon, usually referred to as “space invaders scenario”, is also known to occur for another AdS4 solution based on a different squashed S7.
