A total of 69 gram-positive, catalase-negative strains isolated from Inner Mongolia traditional meat sausages were characterized in respect to their technological properties, including acid production, salt and nitrite tolerance, gas, slime and H2S production, hydrolysis of arginine and biogenic amine production. All of the isolated strains decrease the pH below 5.0 after 24h of cultivation. All isolates are able to grow with 6.5% NaCl or with 150mg L-1NaNO2and 51 isolates are able to grow with 10% NaCl. All isolates don’t produce gas and slime. 54 isolates don’t produce H2S. 23 isolated strains don’t produce NH3 from arginine, and 40 isolates don’t produce biogenic amine. Consolidation of these results, 8 strains show the best technological properties to be used as starter culture for sausage production. The bacterial selected are then subjected to biochemical tests using the API 50 CH and they are identified as 6 Lactobacillus planarum and 2 Lactobacillus curvatus.

In northern China, grassland has degraded severely and wind erosion occurs remarkably due to irrational land use in recent years. By employing sand sampler and mobile wind tunnel, an observation for 6 years was made to analyze the mechanisms of wind erosion in Xilamuren grassland, the central of Yinshan Mountains, Inner Mongolia. Results show that: (1) vegetation is the decisive factor for controlling wind erosion and the inhibiting effect of vegetation height on wind erosion is greater than that of vegetation coverage. (2) Wind erosion modulus in the initial period of enclosure reaches 1313.7 t km-2a-1 and with the improvement of the grassland vegetation, wind erosion decreases year by year. (3) For every 1000 kg soil eroded by wind, 15 kg organic matter, 227g available nitrogen, 262g available phosphorus and 120g available potassium lose in the region at the same time, being a tremendous fertility loss. Therefore, the protection of base grassland and restoration of degraded grassland are two fundamental approaches to control wind erosion on the grassland.

Based on the analysis of water resources and water supply condi1ions of the Baotou City, a multi-objective and comprehensive model for managing water resources is established through the selection of decisive variables, analysis of the balance of water resources demand and supply, and the set-up of the managing districts. The optimal distribution of groundwater is strongly emphasised and a response matrix is used to express the restraint of water level in the model. The model is solved using linear objective programming. The analytical results indicate that the optimised scheme has excellent social, economic, and environmental benefits, and can be used as a reference for the development and planning of the Baotou City.

Investigation of the spatial-temporal variability of characteristics with alternative variation in females of taiga tick from three district of the Irkutsk Region showed all samplings to be phenotypically heterogenous. Based on these results estimated was L.A.Zhivotovsky criterion of identity between separate imago collections. Similarity index for geographically remote populations was about 0.9. This index was higher in intrapopulational groups collected from one territory in different seasons. The elucidated variability creates the basis for selection of morphologic tags of vector transmitting capacity and ticks life cycle duration and other questions of their biology investigation which includes usage of collection materials accumulated previously.
