Abstract Metal jewellery used as votive offerings is discovered at the “barbarian” mountain sanctuary of Eklizi-Burun (the Crimea) and dating from the 1st to the 3rd centuries AD. Most of these items were probably part of female costume known from funerary contexts in the Central Crimea, which differ both regarding their location (in the Crimean Foothills and on the South-Coast), as well as the specific features of the burial rite (“cremation” vs. “inhumation”). A small part of the jewellery is characteristic only for the cemeteries in the South-Coast area containing burials with remains of cremation. An analysis of the cultural environment, in which the jewellery items deposited in the Eklizi-Burun sanctuary of the Roman period were produced and used, suggests that its worshippers came from communities living on the southern macro-slope of the main ridge of the Crimean Mountains and practised cremation of the dead. Apparently, these people appeared in the Graeco-Roman narrative tradition and local epigraphic documents of the Roman period as “Tauri”, “Scythian-Tauri”, and “Tauro-Scythians” inhabiting “Taurica”. They are presumed to have appeared in the Crimean Mountains in the 2nd and 1st centuries BC (migrating from areas with archaeological cultures influenced by the La Tène culture?) and to have maintained their cultural identity until the beginning of the 5th century AD.

The current status of the global organic viticulture is discussed. The challenge of conservation of species and landscape biodiversity in the Crimea is actualized. The fauna of mites and other insects in the grape agrocenosis of the South Coast of the Peninsula is reported. Biodiversity of mites and other insects in commercial vineyards at different pesticide loads is shown. The role that wild-growing vegetation in territories adjacent to vineyards plays in the agrolandscape of grape agrocenoses is highlighted. The commonness of species diversity of predatory mites in a vineyard and on its outskirts is revealed. The possibility to rely on natural mechanisms for self-regulation of population numbers of phytophagous mites under conditions of organic viticulture is demonstrated.

The article studies interrelations of the beam attenuation coefficient in different spectrum regions and spectral relations of beam attenuation coefficient to the Secchi depth in the coastal waters of the South Coast of Crimea. The data were used of in situ optical measurements obtained in 2008–2014 from a stationary oceanographic platform installed in the coastal waters of the South Coast of Crimea near the village of Katsiveli. According to the measurement data the relation was determined of the beam attenuation coefficient in eight parts of the spectrum in the wavelength range of 416–640 nm to the Secchi depth, which varies from 6 m to 17.5 m. Spectral distributions of the beam attenuation coefficient at different Secchi depths in coastal and deep sea waters were compared. As a result, it is concluded that the relationships between the spectral attenuation coefficient and the Secchi depth in coastal waters are not applicable to deep sea waters. It is shown that the feature of such equations in coastal waters is related to the higher concentration of fine suspended matter in them. Intercorrelation parameters were calculated of beam attenuation coefficients in different spectrum regions in coastal waters. High correlation coefficients make it possible to reconstruct distribution of the attenuation coefficient in a wide spectral range based on measurements at one wavelength in any spectrum region. The optimal spectral region to measure the beam attenuation coefficient is 468–527 nm.

Background. To study the influence of evergreen cypress blossoming period on the effectiveness of sanatorium and health resort treatment (HRT) of bronchial asthma (BA) patients in the South Coast of Crimea (SCC). Methods. The analysis of the data of 71 patients with BA, the residents of the Crimea was conducted. The survey of BA patients included the questioning, medical observation, physical examination, complete blood count, sputum cytology, lung function examination, motor (physical) abilities by 6 minute steptype test and quality of life. Results. Aeropalinological measurement in the SCC (Yalta) showed that the evergreen cypress’s blossoming period is continuing from February to April inclusive. The highest concentrations of cypress pollen were registered in March and in the first half of April. Efficiency of HRT of BA patients in the SCC did not depend on the pollen season of evergreen cypress. Conclusion. Pollen season of evergreen cypress (February - April inclusive) is not a contraindication for HRT of BA patients in the SCC.

Vibrio choleraeserogroups O1 and O139 are commonly associated with diarrhea, while non-O1-O139 strains may cause wound infections. Here, we present the genome sequences of twoV. choleraestrains isolated from blue mussels (Mytilus edulis) collected in coastal waters of southern Sweden.

Echinoderms are benthic animals that can be found in almost all marine ecosystems but are mostly found in the intertidal coastal zone. Echinoderms play an important role as deposit feeders. This study aims to look at the distribution patterns, diversity, and habitat conditions of species in the southern coastal waters of Lombok Island, namely Kute, Awang, and Gerupuk beaches. The field survey was conducted using the quadratic transect method and free collection in October - November 2020. Based on the results of the research, a total of 11 species of echinoderms were found in Lombok Island consisting of 4 classes. Diadema setosum and Tripneusteus gratila were the most common species, whereas Synapta maculate, Holothuria leucospilota, Echinotrix diadema, Holothuria atra, and Ophiocoma scolopendrina were found in small numbers with uniform distribution (Id <1). Diadema setosum distribution pattern has the highest abundance with a clustered distribution pattern (Id> 1) in Awang and Gerupuk, and Tripneusteus gratila in Kute and Awang. The Diversity Index value is different in each habitat. The highest Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index (Hꞌ) was found in Gerupuk 2.18. The largest smoothing index is found at Awang 0.96. The largest Dominance Index (D) is found in Gerupuk 0.88. Based on the value of the Echinoderm community structure on the South Coast of Lombok Island, it shows that diversity is moderate, community uniformity is unstable, and dominance is low. information regarding the distribution and diversity of Echinoderm fauna in various types of habitats around the seagrass as a first step to anticipate the decline in the Echinoderm population in the waters of the South Coast of Lombok Island.

In the article the basic stages of 90-years-old history of international children’s center «Artek», located in the town of Gurzuf on the South Coast of the Crimea, are considered. The author characterizes diff erent conceptions of Artek’s activity in the retrospective and perspective context, and also its public meaningful functions and applicable pedagogical technologies of development of children’s personality.

The article examines the lexical and semantic potential of toponymy of the South Coast of the Crimea, identifies thematic groups of Crimean toponyms, among which the author distinguishes the lexical and semantic fields of toponyms that reflect in their meaning anthroponyms, topos, flora and fauna, human activity; the article substantiates the rationality of this approach to the semantic division of the toponymy of the South Coast of the Crimea. The functional aspect of Crimean toponyms is also revealed, since geographical names are a unique source of information about the Crimea, as they reveal its history, culture, traditions and customs of natives.
