In this study, response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the ultrasonic-assisted extraction parameters of Sojae Semen Praeparatum polysaccharides (SSPP-80), the optimum conditions were determined as follows: ultrasonic frequency of 100 W, ultrasonic power of 80 Hz, ultrasonic temperature of 52℃, ultrasonic time of 23 minutes, and liquid to raw material ratio of 40 mL/g. Based on these conditions, polysaccharides extraction rate was 7.72% ± 0.26%. Then, 2 novel polysaccharides (SSPP-80‐1, SSPP-80‐2) were isolated from SSPP by DEAE-cellulose 52 chromatography. The chemical compositions, physicochemical properties, and structure of SSPPs were investigated by simultaneous thermal analyzer (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FI-IR), and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed that SSPP-80 and 2 fractions were mainly composed of mannose (Man), glucose (Glc), galactose (Gal), xylose (Xyl), and arabinose (Ara). In addition, the antioxidant activities were evaluated against the DPPH and hydroxyl radical in vitro, the IC50 of SSPP-80, SSPP-80‐1 and SSPP-80‐2 against DPPH free radical were 4.407, 8.267, and 5.204 mg/mL, respectively, whereas the IC50values for removing hydroxyl groups were 5.318, 3.516, and 4.016 mg/mL, respectively. It demonstrated that SSPP-80 and 2 fractions had certain antioxidant activity. Theoretical basis for use of Sojae Semen Praeparatum polysaccharides was provided by this study.

Anredera cordifolia [Ten] Steenis has been proven to have pharmacological activity that is thought to be influenced by the presence of phenolic compounds and flavonoids. However, both compounds are found in small concentrations through conventional extraction (maceration, decoction, soxhlet, and reflux). This study aims to prove that the ultrasonic assisted extraction method can obtain higher concentrations of phenolic and flavonoid compounds. Dried binahong leaves were extracted using ultrasonic assisted extraction with 70% ethanol. Phenolic levels were determined using Folin-Ciocalteu, while flavonoid levels were determined using the colorimetric aluminum method. The results showed binahong leaves ethanolic extract had phenolic levels of 10.16 % GAE and flavonoid levels of 10.58 % QE. These results are much higher than the results obtained using conventional extraction so that ultrasonic assisted extraction can be recommended to maximize the extraction of phenolic and flavonoid levels from the leaves of Binahong (Anredera cordifolia [Ten] Steenis).

An ionic liquid-based ultrasonic-assisted extraction method has been developed for the effective extraction of procyanidins fromLarix gmeliniibark. So as to evaluate the performance of ionic liquids in ultrasonic-assisted extraction process, the effects caused by changes in the anion and the alkyl chain length of the cation on the extraction efficiency were investigated in this paper. The results indicated that the characteristics of anions had remarkable effects on the extraction efficiency of procyanidins, and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([Bmim]Br) aqueous solution was the best among the investigated ionic liquids. The optimum conditions for the extraction were as follows: [Bmim]Br concentration 1.25 M, soak time 3 h, solid-liquid ratio 1 : 10, ultrasonic power 150 W, and ultrasonic time 30 min. This work not only introduces a simple, green, and highly efficient sample preparation method for extraction of procyanidins fromL. gmeliniibark, but also reveals the tremendous application potential of ionic liquids.

Gardenia yellow was extracted from fructus Gardeniae using water as extracting solvent by means of ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE). The effects of ratio of water to raw material, exaction time and temperature were investigated by single factor and orthogonal experiments. The results showed that the optimal extraction parameters were the extraction temperature of 40°C, ratio of water to raw material of 6:1, and time of 40 min. Under the conditions, the yield of gardenia yellow was 95.15% and the OD value was 1.51. The ratio of water to raw material had the most prominent effect on the process of UAE, followed by the time and then the temperature according to the statistical analysis of orthogonal experiments. Compared with traditional methods, UAE showed a better effect on the extraction efficiency of gardenia yellow from fructus Gardeniae at lower temperature as well as in a shorter time with higher yield when using water instead of organic solvents as extracting solvent.

The Aspergillus niger fermented Tri-phala waste (FTW) was extracted with ultrasonic assisted extraction (UAE) using deionized water as an extraction medium at 30°C. The 40 kHz ultrasonic frequency was used for sonicate the FTW immerged in the water at the ratio of 1 : 100 for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 min. The contents of gallic acid, isoquercetin obtained after extraction were measured by HPLC. The extraction yields of gallic acid and isoquercetin were compared with the yields from the water extraction without ultrasonic assistance (control condition). The results showed that using the ultrasonic assistance increased the extraction yield of gallic acid from 0.25±0.03 to 1.26±0.25 g.g-1 with the shorter extraction time from 60 min to 30 min. Moreover, isoquercetin extraction yield increased from 0.17±0.02 to 0.41±0.04 g.g-1 with the shorter extraction time from 60 min to 20 min.
