Grammatical inference (GI), i.e., the task of finding a rule that lies behind given words, can be used in the analyses of amyloidogenic sequence fragments, which are essential in studies of neurodegenerative diseases. In this paper, we developed a new method that generates non-circular parsing expression grammars (PEGs) and compares it with other GI algorithms on the sequences from a real dataset. The main contribution of this paper is a genetic programming-based algorithm for the induction of parsing expression grammars from a finite sample. The induction method has been tested on a real bioinformatics dataset and its classification performance has been compared to the achievements of existing grammatical inference methods. The evaluation of the generated PEG on an amyloidogenic dataset revealed its accuracy when predicting amyloid segments. We show that the new grammatical inference algorithm achieves the best ACC (Accuracy), AUC (Area under ROC curve), and MCC (Mathew’s correlation coefficient) scores in comparison to five other automata or grammar learning methods.

Abstract Orthobench is the standard benchmark to assess the accuracy of orthogroup inference methods. It contains 70 expert-curated reference orthogroups (RefOGs) that span the Bilateria and cover a range of different challenges for orthogroup inference. Here, we leveraged improvements in tree inference algorithms and computational resources to reinterrogate these RefOGs and carry out an extensive phylogenetic delineation of their composition. This phylogenetic revision altered the membership of 31 of the 70 RefOGs, with 24 subject to extensive revision and 7 that required minor changes. We further used these revised and updated RefOGs to provide an assessment of the orthogroup inference accuracy of widely used orthogroup inference methods. Finally, we provide an open-source benchmarking suite to support the future development and use of the Orthobench benchmark.

Considering the future development and general solution of the problem under consideration and also the high precision attainable by astronomical observations, the following procedure may be the most rational approach:1. On the main tectonic plates of the Earth’s crust, powerful movable radio telescopes should be mounted at the same points where standard optical instruments are installed. There should be two stations separated by a distance of about 6 to 8000 kilometers on each plate. Thus, we obtain a fundamental polyhedron embracing the whole Earth with about 10 to 12 apexes, and with its sides represented by VLBI.

When modern technology permeates every corner of life, there are ignited more and more hopes among the disabled to be compensated for the loss of mobility and participation in normal life, and with Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Exoskeleton Technologies and truly hands free technologies (HMI), it's possible for the disabled to be included in the social and pedagogic spheres, especially via computers and smartphones with social media apps and digital instruments for Augmented Reality (AR) .In this paper a nouvel HMI technology is presented with relevance for the inclusion of disabled in every day life with specific focus on the future development of "smart cities" and "smart homes".

The article examines the state of the Holocaust historiography in Ukraine for the period of 2010 – beginning of 2014. The review analyzes activities of major research and educational organizations in Ukraine which have significant part of projects devoted to the Holocaust; main publications and discussions on the Holocaust in Ukraine, including publications of Ukrainian authors in academic European and American journals. The article illustrates contemporary tendencies and conditions of the Holocaust Studies in Ukraine, defines major problems and shows perspectives of the future development of the Holocaust historiography in Ukraine.
