The requirements imposed on schools and the competencies of teachers change depending on the development of society, and currently their constant growth is considerable. These facts lead to the need to continuously innovate pre-service teacher training, especially with a focus on creating professional digital literacy. The creation of a proposal of an optimal model of pre-service teacher training in the field of teacher trainees’ professional didactic-technological competency development was the subject of the research, which is described in the article. The described research examined the importance of the integration of various kinds of digital didactic tools into pre-service teacher training curricula with regard to the successful performance of the teaching profession. The necessary research data were obtained on the basis of screening the opinions of teacher trainees in Slovakia and the Czech Republic (n = 280). The respondents of the research survey expressed, in terms of various aspects, their opinions on the importance of integrating the issue of working with specified kinds of the given digital means into the curricula of teacher trainees’ study programs. The obtained research data were analysed depending on three segmentation factors of the respondents, which were the nationality of the student (i.e., the COUNTRY of his/her study), the GENDER of the respondent, and the combination of these two factors, i.e., COUNTRY X GENDER. According to the achieved results, there is a need to include or strengthen the teaching of software applications such as ActivInspire, FreeMind, SMART Notebook, Google Docs and, if possible, Prezi and Mindomo, and also a need to emphasize the methodological aspects of the use of these technical means in teaching.

Given the strict guideline and significant innovation from the Laos Government, there are certain limitations in teacher training in Laos. This paper focuses on selected internationally published works on training teaching skills for prospective teachers (pre-service teachers) with document analysis method on articles and books of authors outside Laos. Subsequently, some recommendations to help innovate the pre-service teacher training process in Laos would be proposed in order to contribute to the development of teachers’ pedagogical competencies. It is suggested that the time allowance for pedagogical practice in high schools with the guidance of expert teachers, possibly through lesson planning and micro-teaching be increased. It is also necessary to pay more attention to equip teacher trainees with skills in using information technology and software in teaching (in particular pre-service mathematics teachers).

Abstract Teacher beliefs play an important role in addressing the issue of teacher training. Teaching philosophy has long been a question of great interest in a wide range of fields in teacher education. There is a growing body of literature that recognises the importance of what teacher trainees or teachers in general think, believe and do in teaching. Studies over the past two decades have provided important information on the possible factors that may impact the formation of teacher beliefs. The paper attempts to explore the relationship between previous school experience and the formation of teacher beliefs among teacher trainees who can provide viewpoints of a teacher and a student at the same time. Moreover, the paper examines teaching methods and techniques that the trainees apply in their teaching as a result of what they believe in as teachers. Data were obtained from semi-structured interviews conducted with pre-service teacher trainees as a part of feedback sessions during teaching practice. By employing qualitative approach, the research contributes to a deeper understanding of the formation and manifestation of teacher beliefs in teaching.

In an era of consumerism, unsustainable clothing consumption is becoming an essential problem. Problems are related to extensive use of raw materials, energy, water, and labour. There are also bottlenecks with used chemicals in production and labour exploitation issues. Home economics subjects deal with concerns related to textile topics and try to raise awareness of sustainable consumption of textile products. Particularly important is to educate people to have the right knowledge and skills to behave sustainably. The aim of the study was to find out the extent of pre-service teacher trainee’s knowledge on textile topics and to research their behaviour in consumer process. In the pilot study, 69 home economics students participated. The research survey was designed to measure the teacher trainee’s textile literacy. The results indicate problems in the field of theoretical knowledge as well as in terms of sustainable behaviour in the entire chain from purchase to disposal of textiles.

Pre-service ‘teaching practice’ is an essential aspect of teacher-training which provides pedagogical knowledge and experience on how to go about the business of teaching. It should be conducted properly so as to prepare pre-service teacher trainees to service their mandate effectively. It is with this understanding that this study assessed the effectiveness with which it is conducted in tertiary institutions in Kwara State. Data was collected using two structured questionnaires and analysed using frequency counts and percentages. It was concluded that most of the students, teachers, supervisors and cooperating schools are highly prepared and committed to the teaching practice exercise while others are not.
