A square loop antenna implemented using a metamaterial line, referred to as a metaloop, is discussed. The metaloop radiates a counter circularly polarized (CP) broadside beam when the loop circumference equals one guided wavelength. The frequency response of the gain shows two different maximum values: gain G Lmax for a left-handed CP wave at frequency fGLmax and gain GRmax for a right-handed CP wave at frequency fGRmax, where GLmax is smaller than GRmax. In order to increase GLmax, while not affecting the original GRmax as much as possible (i.e. balance the gain), a parasitic natural conducting loop (paraloop), whose circumference is one free-space wavelength at fGLmax, is placed at height Hpara above the metaloop. It is found that the difference in the gains can be reduced by choosing an appropriate Hpara. The radiation pattern at fGLmax is narrowed by the paraloop, while the VSWR is not remarkably affected.

A multi band sleeve dipole antenna for jammer application is proposed. The antenna can cover band in which mobile and other wireless devices operate. The design antenna shows very good omni-directional characteristics and scattering parameter S11 value less than -10db. The dipole is made of two concentric hallow cylinder with different radius and different lengths. The antenna is fed at the center with coaxial cable pass through the bottom cylinder and thus avoids the use of complicated balun network. The impedance bandwidth and the radiation pattern are measured and analyzed both at 900 MHz and 1.8 GHz. The antenna can also be used GSM/DCS/WCDMA/CDMA2000/ TD-SCDMA /WLAN applications at both indoor and outdoor platform.

Expressions for the radiation field are derived for a loop antenna of elliptical shape assuming a uniform current distribution. It is found that the radiation pattern in the plane of the loop depends on both the size and the shape of the antenna. However, for small loops, the radiation pattern is independent of the shape and is essentially circular. Some calculated patterns for loops of different sizes and shapes are presented in order to illustrate the derived results.

Abstract The purposes of this work was to study the possibility of using photoconductive semiconductor antenna based on Ge or GaAs for receiving information signals in the frequency communications and satellite navigation bands and to study a scattering parameter S11 – a return loss (a reflection coefficient) of configurable loop antennas with laser-plasma control based on semiconductor photoresistor. It is shown that the addition of semiconductor photoresistor element in the loop antenna makes it possible to significantly expand its functionality and control its characteristics using an external laser source.

A triple-band flexible loop antenna is proposed for WLAN/WiMAX applications in this paper. The proposed antenna is formed by the third-order Hilbert-curve and bending type structure which provides flexible characteristics. Even though the radius of the curvature for bending antennas is changed, a triple-band feature still remains in the proposed antenna. Moreover, the antenna exhibits the characteristics of omnidirectional radiation pattern and circular polarization. To verify the receiving performance of antenna, a simulation on the antenna factor was conducted by an EM simulator. Based on these results, the suggested antenna makes a noteworthy performance over typical loop antennas.
