In order to achieve the EU emission reduction goals, it is essential to renovate the building stock, by improving energy efficiency and promoting total decarbonisation. According to the 2018/844/EU Directive, 3% of Public Administration buildings should be renovated every year. So as to identify the measures to be applied in those buildings and obtain the greatest reduction in energy consumption at the lowest cost, the Directive 2010/31/EU proposed a cost-optimisation-based methodology. The implementation of this allowed to carry out studies in detail in actual scenarios for the energy renovation of thermal envelopes of public schools in the city of Valencia. First, primary school buildings were analysed and classified into three representative types. For each type, 21 sets of measures for improving building thermal envelopes were proposed, considering the global cost, in order to learn about the savings obtained, the repayment term for the investment made, the percentage reduction in energy consumption and the level of compliance with regulatory requirements. The result and conclusions will help Public Administration in Valencia to draw up an energy renovation plan for public building schools in the city.

The green building or green architecture has come to light as a strong architectural movement at the end of 1990's and as a main trend in architectural practice. The architectural green is a modern architectural philosophy which deals with the competent relationship between the functional constructive systems and its vital environmental, by controlling the inputs and outputs of this system with the least negative effects on the environment and occupant's health, and the least energy consumption during the various stages of the building ( construction, operation, maintenance and destruction ) to achieve the functional activities and the inventive and efficient architectural structures. The importance of this movement lies in trying to achieve the sustainable development in its environmental, social and economic aspects because of the problems that developed and developing countries ( e.g. Iraq ) face such as energy consumption and pollution. Several international standards of different classifications, depending on local context of each country, has been appeared. Some of these tools are (BREEAM, LEED, CO-CHPS Colorado, GBTool, CASBEE) which aim to assess the performance of the building from green Architecture's perspective. Although there is a similarity in the classification levels including the sustainable location, how to use (water, energy and atmosphere, materials, resources) effectively, indoor environment quality and the design's innovation, they differ in other aspects that its importance relies on the environmental and local context. The problem of our research was the absence of the practical evaluation tool of the green building ( school buildings ) for the Iraq's local context in general and Mosul in particular, compatibly with the city climate. The research aims at making theoretical construction to identify the assessment indicators of the school buildings from green architecture's perspective, in order to create suitable and general assessment tool for schools building in Mosul city which can help improving the performance of these schools, decreasing the effect on the health, sparing energy coasts, and other benefits in the stages of the project ( pre-construction, construction, post-construction ). The research supposes that the multi-dimensional designing strategy is an active tool used in establishing the tool classification of assessment. For reaching goals, the research adopts the theoretical method and questionnaire. Finally, the research provides an assessment tool for school building in Mosul from the green architecture's perspective (AGBS) Green Building Assessment Tool for school ) in conformity with the local context of the city for enabling the designer to follow it in order to achieve the investment within his school architectural products. Results indicate six categories for assessment tool. First Sustainable Sites category (SS) which have the greatest weight 25.7%, , then Indoor Environment Quality(IEQ) 24.35667%. then Materials & Resources (M&R), Energy & Atomosphere (A&E), Water Efficiency(WE),and Innovotion in design (ID), have 17.32% ، 10.5% ، 3.987181% , Respectively.

AbstractWith the developing of Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile edge computing (MEC), more and more sensing devices are widely deployed in the smart city. These sensing devices generate various kinds of tasks, which need to be sent to cloud to process. Usually, the sensing devices do not equip with wireless modules, because it is neither economical nor energy saving. Thus, it is a challenging problem to find a way to offload tasks for sensing devices. However, many vehicles are moving around the city, which can communicate with sensing devices in an effective and low-cost way. In this paper, we propose a computation offloading scheme through mobile vehicles in IoT-edge-cloud network. The sensing devices generate tasks and transmit the tasks to vehicles, then the vehicles decide to compute the tasks in the local vehicle, MEC server or cloud center. The computation offloading decision is made based on the utility function of the energy consumption and transmission delay, and the deep reinforcement learning technique is adopted to make decisions. Our proposed method can make full use of the existing infrastructures to implement the task offloading of sensing devices, the experimental results show that our proposed solution can achieve the maximum reward and decrease delay.

A substantial share of the building sector in global energy demand has attracted scholars to focus on the energy efficiency of the building sector. The building’s energy consumption has been projected to increase due to mass urbanization, high living comfort standards, and, more importantly, climate change. While climate change has potential impacts on the rate of energy consumption in buildings, several studies have shown that these impacts differ from one region to another. In response, this paper aimed to investigate the impact of climate change on the heating and cooling energy demands of buildings as influential variables in building energy consumption in the city of Poznan, Poland. In this sense, through the statistical downscaling method and considering the most recent Typical Meteorological Year (2004–2018) as the baseline, the future weather data for 2050 and 2080 of the city of Poznan were produced according to the HadCM3 and A2 GHG scenario. These generated files were then used to simulate the energy demands in 16 building prototypes of the ASHRAE 90.1 standard. The results indicate an average increase in cooling load and a decrease in heating load at 135% and 40% , respectively, by 2080. Due to the higher share of heating load, the total thermal load of the buildings decreased within the study period. Therefore, while the total thermal load is currently under the decrease, to avoid its rise in the future, serious measures should be taken to control the increased cooling demand and, consequently, thermal load and GHG emissions.

‘CENTRE OF A BENEFICENT FORCE IN EDUCATION’ OR ‘ORDINARY MERCHANT BUSINESS’? THE MUSEUM OF EDUCATION AND ART IN ROTTERDAM, 1880-1886 For a short period of time, the city of Rotterdam housed a rather unique museum, the Museum of Education and Art (Museum voor Onderwijs en Kunst). It existed for six years and only for less than a year in its original form. In 1880 it was unlike other educational or – as they were usually called – school museums. Other than today’s cultural history school museums, these museums were integrated in education and functioned as a means to support mass education by the state. They did so by exhibiting the whole range of school materials to enable headmasters and teachers to make informed choices. School materials were also displayed at educational exhibitions at world fairs. The Museum in Rotterdam was exceptional because it was a private, commercial enterprise, unlike other school museums which were established by schoolboards, local authorities, or by a state. In addition, it was the first and probably the only case with a purpose-built housing, where others generally used existing (school)buildings or were part of an arts and crafts museum.

The spatial visualization is a very useful tool to help decision-makers in the urban planning process to create future energy transition strategies, implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies in the context of sustainable cities. Statistical methods are often used to understand the driving parameters of energy consumption but rarely used to evaluate future urban renovation scenarios. Simulating whole cities using energy demand softwares can be very extensive in terms of computer resources and data collection. A new methodology, using city archetypes is proposed, here, to simulate the energy consumption of urban areas including urban energy planning scenarios. The objective of this paper is to present an innovative solution for the computation and visualization of energy saving at the city scale.The energy demand of cities, as well as the micro-climatic conditions, are calculated by using a simplified 3D model designed as function of the city urban geometrical and physical characteristics. Data are extracted from a GIS database that was used in a previous study. In this paper, we showed how the number of buildings to be simulated can be drastically reduced without affecting the accuracy of the results. This model is then used to evaluate the influence of two set of renovation solutions. The energy consumption are then integrated back in the GIS to identify the areas in the city where refurbishment works are needed more rapidly. The city of Settimo Torinese (Italy) is used as a demonstrator for the proposed methodology, which can be applied to all cities worldwide with limited amount of information.

ABSTRAKMasjid-masjid di Indonesia khususnya di Jawa juga tidak bebas dari pengaruh kebudayaan lokal. Hal ini disebabkan manusia Indonesia pada umumnya bersifat eklektik, maka bentuk masjid-masjid di Indonesia pun bergaya campuran sisa-sisa kebudayaan Hindu, bangunan-bangunan India, atau Turki. Saat ini kebudayaan Buton kembali direvitalisasi seperti bentuk atap Malige terdapat pada bangunan sekolah, pertokoan, dan perkantoran. Sedangkan bentuk masjid Keraton Buton dan rumah tradisional Buton Malige belum pernah diadaptasi menjadi alternatif bentukan masjid di Kota Baubau. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mendesain masjid skala kecamatan di Kelurahan Tongano Barat, Kecamatan Tomia Timur, Kabupaten Wakatobi dengan prinsip-prinsip arsitektur eklektik terhadap masjid Keraton Buton dan rumah tradisional Buton Malige. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode grounded theory dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data terdiri dari data primer dan data sekunder. Data dikumpulkan dengan cara observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan cara data direduksi, disajikan, dan disimpulkan. Penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa elemen-elemen arsitektural masjid di Kecamatan Tomia Timur, Kabupaten Wakatobi, Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara yang dimodifikasi dari bangunan Masjid Agung tradisional Keraton Buton adalah denah masjid, jendela masjid, tangga eksterior masjid, dan fondasi masjid sedangkan dari rumah tradisional Buton Malige adalah rumah atap bersusun (Malige) serta masjid berbentuk rumah panggung. ABSTRACTMosques in Indonesia especially in Java are also not free from the influence of local culture. This is because Indonesian people are generally eclectic, so the form of our mosques are a mixture of remnants of Hindu culture, Indian buildings, or Turkey. Nowadays, Buton culture has been revitalized like the shape of the Malige roof on school buildings, shops, and offices. While the form of the Palace of Buton mosque and the traditional house of Buton Malige have never been adapted to be an alternative form of a mosque in the City of Baubau. This research is intended to design a sub-scale mosque in the West Tongano Village, Tomia Timur District, Wakatobi Regency with eclectic architectural principles towards the Keraton Buton mosque and the traditional house of Buton Malige. This study uses a grounded theory method with a qualitative approach. Data sources consist of primary data and secondary data. Data collected by observation, interview, and documentation. Data were analyzed by means of data reduced, presented, and concluded. This study concluded that the architectural elements of the mosque in Tomia Timur Subdistrict, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province which were modified from the traditional Great Mosque building of the Keraton Buton were mosque plans, mosque windows, mosque exterior stairs, and mosque foundations, while from the traditional houses of Buton Malige were a double-decker roof house (Malige) and a mosque on stilts.
