Background: Cardiac disease is one of the non obstetric problems causing mortality both in pregnancy and labor due to the complications. Preventions for the complications have not been implemented, thus the number of patients which have cardiac disease with complications and perinatal outcome with low birth weight is still high. Objective : To identify maternal and neonatal outcome of pregnant women with cardiac disease in dr. Soetomo Surabaya hospital in 2018. Method: Descriptive retrospective study using medical records in dr. Soetomo Surabaya hospital 2018. Result: We found 1433 pregnancy cases with 51 (3,6 %) patients were having cardiac disease and included in this research. The most common maternal complication was pulmonary hypertension 16 cases. A dead case was found 1 case (1,9 %) with eissenmenger syndrome. We found the perinatal outcome of 30 babies (58.8%) born with a weight of 2500 gram and under. There are 7 patients with cardiac disease that have been corrected (13,7%). Among those 7 patients, 6 had a perinatal outcome with a birth weight of more than 2500 gram. Conclusion : Most pregnant patients with cardiac disease in dr. Soetomo Surabaya hospital 2018 are already having some complications with perinatal outcomes of low birth weight. Therefore, management of cardiac disease in pregnancy to prevent complications by means of preconception counseling, good antenatal care, and appropriate referrels are still needed to improve the quality of maternal and neonatal outcomes.

The scale of cardiac diseases, and in particular heart failure and acute myocardial infarction, emphasises the need for radically new approaches, such as cell therapy, to address the underlying cause of the disease, the loss of functional myocardium. Stem cell-based therapies, whether through transplanted cells or directing innate repair, may provide regenerative approaches to cardiac diseases by halting, or even reversing, the events responsible for progression of organ failure. Cardio3 BioSciences, a leading Belgian biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of regenerative and protective therapies for the treatment of cardiac disease, was founded in this context in 2004. The company is developing a highly innovative cell therapy approach based on a platform designed to reprogramme the patient’s own stem cells into cardiac progenitor cells. The underlying rationale behind this approach is that, in order to reconstruct cardiac tissue, stem cells need to be specific to cardiac tissue. The key is therefore to provide cardiac-specific progenitor cells to the failing heart to induce cardiac repair.

Herpes simplex virus is one the most common causes of sexually transmitted diseases. This infection is common inreproductive age women and can cause severe sequealae for fetus and neonates because this virus can be transmittedto the fetus during pregnancy and the newborn. Infection of Herpes simplex can occurs as first or primary infectionand recurrent infection. Most of the case is asymptomatic. Rarely during intrauterine, the risk of transmission ofmaternal-fetal can be increased during the last trimester of pregnancy and delivery. Based on type of infection,primary or recurrent, performing a treatment with antiviral drugs or caesarean section delivery can decrease the riskof neonatal infection

This work presents the results of a study about the reproductive behavior of riverine women living in the Sustainable Development Reserve Amanã, in the Middle Solimões region, state of Amazonas. The study was done in 2001 with the objective of identify aspects of the reproductive behavior of 83 women, collected through reproductive history methodology. These women live in small localities along the rivers and lakes in the middle of the Amazonian forest. The study identified that these women initialize their reproductive period at the age of 17, in average, and the mean age of their last pregnancy occurs at the age of 42, considering those above 50 years old. 36% of these 83 women had lost one or more of their children before the age of five. Only 16% use contraceptives and 12% are sterilized. They don’t have access to the basic health assistance in a regular basis and the local midwives are extremely important in their assistance during pregnancy and delivery. This study em phasizes the importance of reproductive health programs including those social and cultural local conditions.
