AbstractSynthesis of bismuth oxide synthesis through the precipitation method using H2C2O4 and Na2CO3 precipitating agents, identification of physicochemical properties and its photocatalysis activity for methyl orange degradation were conducted. The bismuth oxide synthesis was undertaken by dissolving Bi(NO3)3.5H2O in HNO3, then added precipitating agents to form precipitate. The results showed that bismuth oxide produced by H2C2O4 precipitating agent was a yellow powder containing a mixture of α-Bi2O3 (monoclinic) and β-Bi2O3 (tetragonal), porous with size of 28-85 μm. Meanwhile, the use of Na2CO3 as precipitating agent resulted in bismuth oxide consisting of α-Bi2O3 and β-Bi2O3 and Bi2O4, irregular shape without pore being 40-115 μm in size. Bismuth oxide synthesized with H2C2O4 precipitating agent showed higher photocatalytic activity compared to bismuth oxide synthesized using Na2CO3 on degrading methyl orange dye with degradation rate constants of 2.35x10-5 s-1 for H2C2O4 and 1.81x10-5 s-1 for Na2CO3.

Photocatalytic is one of the inexpensive and non-toxic techniques for degradation of organic pollutants into harmless substances such as water and carbon dioxide. In this study, simple electrolysis method was used in preparation of Ag/TiO2 and α-Fe2O3/HY catalysts. The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were studied using XRD, FTIR, FESEM-EDX and surface area analysis. The pH of solution plays an important role in the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants which influences the surface-charge properties of the catalysts. Ag/TiO2 and α-Fe2O3/HY were used as catalyst on degradation of 2-chlorophenol (2-CP) and methyl orange (MO), respectively. The effect of pH on degradation of 2-CP and MO were investigated over a pH range from 2 to 9. Higher degradation of 2-CP and MO were obtained at pH 5 (74%) and pH 2 (80%), respectively. This finding might be explained by the amphoteric performance of the catalyst using point zero charge (pHZPC). The pHZPC for Ag/TiO2 and α-Fe2O3/HY was found to be at pH 6.3 and pH 7.2, respectively. Hence, the activities of the catalysts may have been affected by the existence of a strong electrostatic field between the positively charged catalysts surface and negatively charged 2-CP and MO caused a pH value lower than their pHZPC give greater degradation.

To improve the physicochemical properties of valnemulin (VLM), different solid forms formed by VLM and organic acids, including tartaric acid (TAR), fumaric acid (FUM), and oxalic acid (OXA), were successfully prepared and characterized by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The excess enthalpy Hex between VLM and other organic acids was calculated by COSMOthermX software and was used to evaluate the probability of forming multi-component solids between VLM and organic acids. By thermal analysis, it was confirmed that multi-component solid forms of VLM were thermodynamically more stable than VLM itself. Through dynamic vapor sorption (DVS) experiments, it was found that three multi-component solid forms of VLM had lower hygroscopicity than VLM itself. Furthermore, the intrinsic dissolution rate of VLM and its multi-component forms was determined in one kind of acidic aqueous medium by using UV-vis spectrometry. It was found that the three multi-component solid forms of VLM dissolved faster than VLM itself.

In this paper, W-doped rutile titania was prepared by low temperature hydrolysis using Tetrabutyl titanate. Powers were characterized by XRD、DRS、PL. At 1073K, Doped concentration have been in a certain range, Tungsten could be doped into the lattice of rutile TiO2in the way of replacement, which would cause no change in rutile TiO2crystalline state with sunlight as the light source, pH=2.0, catalyst concentration was 1.0g.L-1, concentration of methyl orange was 5.0mg.L-1. It has been shown that Tungsten doped TiO2powders(1.0%,1073K) has been the most photodegradation efficiency, and the degradation efficiency was 96.8% after 12h.

ZnO and a series of Ag/ZnO photocatalysts were prepared by a precipitation- irradiation method and their photocatalytic performance in photodegradation of methyl orange dye was evaluated. The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were characterized by various characterization techniques. The photocatalysts have a hexagonal phase and were highly agglomerated. TEM images showed a change in morphology of ZnO from rod to nearly spherical with the addition of Ag. Ag/ZnO catalysts exhibited better photocatalytic activity in the degradation of methyl orange compared to pure ZnO. Ag/ZnO contains 2% silver shows the best performance as photocatalyst.
