The present article aims to make a preliminary analyze regarding the fibrous composition of an "opreg"(part of a female folk costume composed of a richly decorated piece of fabric and long fringes applied on the lower edge) from the modern-contemporary period, using two micro-destructive methods: Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and optical microscopy. In order to have a better understanding and a precise result, different fibres from the opreg were analyzed- brightly colored cotton yarn (green, pink, lilac) together with synthetic silver and gold composite yarns (lurex). Hand-made textiles have a very important meaning for our history, therefore it is imperious to know what kind of fibres were used in order to be able to create an adequate environment to preserve them. Further analyzes will be carried out in order to have a more detailed image about opreg characteristics and how it was obtained.

Abstract In lead-free reflow soldering, the presence of voids should be taken into account. For this reason, the effect of the applied heating profiles was examined via the characterization of voids in galvanic and immersion Sn coatings. According to EU Directive 2002/95/EC, the screening of Pb element of reflow soldering (i.e. of electrical and electronic equipment) is necessary; and the practical implementation of this measurement is largely affected by the characteristics of the solder (i.e. the presence of voids and the inhomogeneity of the solder). Comparing the results of the above two coating methods, it was found that by chemical coating more voids were formed and the detected lead content was higher than for galvanic Sn. The standard deviation of Ag and Cu concentrations was mainly influenced by the appearance of large compounds in the second case, while with chemical coating, no large compounds were formed due to the elevated number of voids.

AbstractHydroxyapatite (HA) has been universally used because of good biocompatibility. There are varieties of coating methods, however, they still have problems. The most significant problem is layer thickness. We introduced a new coating procedure to eliminate this difficulty. The characterization of the coating was studied by X-ray diffractometry, infrared spectroscopy, SEM and chemical analysis. Said examination indicated that the double layer consisted of carbonate HA and CaTiO3 and the thickness of the layer was 2-4 μm. The coating was performed on the inner surfaces of 50-200 μm sized pores and was also consistent in the smallest of the pores even those of 50 μm. Our results indicated that the coating layer was homogeneous and thin. In addition, both layers consisted of Ca ions. The consistency of coating into even the smallest pore size suggested that our method promises to have widespread clinical applications in artificial implants because of increased surface contact area.
