Dry waters with an average diameter of 82 μm were prepared by a high speed mixed route. The formaldehyde absorption kinetics of dry waters was investigated by simulating indoor formaldehyde pollution in glass chamber. The results showed that pseudo-second order model could be used to simulate the adsorption process; the adsorption rate was highest in the initial 60 minutes; when the adsorption lasted for 180 minutes, the adsorption reached equilibrium.

Abstract The effect of a low-boiling impurity (CO2 gas <1.5% mol) on the kinetics of boiling-up of superheated n-pentane in a vertical glass tube have been studied by high-speed video (2050 fps). The method of continuous pressure decrease from 2.00 to 0.10 MPa (in the temperature range of 100.2-145.1 °C), as well as the method of measuring the lifetimes of superheated liquids at 0.10 MPa (90.2-134.1 °C) have been used. The inner surface of the tube has two visible defects, one of which defines the boundary of the attainable superheat. After degassing the system, the defects of tube cease to play an appreciable role, the active centers are redistributed. The temperature of the attainable superheat increases from the initial value by 20 °C in tests with gas and by 10 °C in subsequent tests without it. The result obtained may be related to physical gas adsorption on the glass surface during the process of evacuation of the system.

Vertical (VDJ) and horizontal (HDJ) double-leg rebound jumps are used as plyometric exercises in direction-specific training regimens for various sports. We investigated the effects of jump direction on joint kinetics of the take-off legs in double-leg rebound jumps. Twelve Japanese male track and field athletes performed VDJ, 100% HDJ, 50% HDJ (50% of 100% HDJ distance), and 75% HDJ (75% of 100% HDJ distance). Kinematic and kinetic data in the sagittal plane were calculated using a force platform and high-speed video camera. Hip negative power during the eccentric phase decreased from VDJ to 50% HDJ (VDJ, −4.40 ± 4.25 W/kg; 50% HDJ, −0.83 ± 2.10; 75% HDJ, −0.33 ± 0.83; 100% HDJ, 0 ± 0), while hip positive power increased from VDJ to 100% HDJ (VDJ, 4.19 ± 2.73 W/kg; 50% HDJ, 9.37 ± 2.89; 75% HDJ, 11.15 ± 3.91; 100% HDJ, 18.51 ± 9.83). Knee negative power increased from VDJ to 75% HDJ (VDJ, −14.48 ± 7.67 W/kg; 50% HDJ, −18.98 ± 7.13; 75% HDJ, −21.57 ± 8.54; 100% HDJ, −23.34 ± 12.13), while knee positive power decreased from VDJ to 75% HDJ (VDJ, 23.18 ± 9.01 W/kg; 50% HDJ, 18.83 ± 5.49; 75% HDJ, 18.10 ± 5.77; 100% HDJ, 16.27 ± 6.22). Ankle joint kinetics remained unchanged. Differences in hip and knee joint kinetics between VDJ and HDJ were associated with direction control, becoming more pronounced as jump distance increased.

A new transmission theory of “global dynamic wrap angle” for friction hoist is proposed. The theory is based on a mine hoist simulation model which combines the suspended rope with the wrapped rope. Rope dynamics in a suspended section are verified by the field experiment results. The theory holds that the mechanical state of wire rope is dynamic through the whole wrap angle, including deformation, contact and friction. When the rope enters the wrap angle, it provides positive friction and changes direction at a certain boundary point. The demarcation of the boundary depends on the rope load on both sides of the friction pulley. The theory is suitable for accurately analyzing the kinetics of high-speed and heavy-load friction hoisting.
