A new transmission theory of “global dynamic wrap angle” for friction hoist is proposed. The theory is based on a mine hoist simulation model which combines the suspended rope with the wrapped rope. Rope dynamics in a suspended section are verified by the field experiment results. The theory holds that the mechanical state of wire rope is dynamic through the whole wrap angle, including deformation, contact and friction. When the rope enters the wrap angle, it provides positive friction and changes direction at a certain boundary point. The demarcation of the boundary depends on the rope load on both sides of the friction pulley. The theory is suitable for accurately analyzing the kinetics of high-speed and heavy-load friction hoisting.

In view of the serious friction and wear on the surface of a hoisting wire rope caused by the failure of lubrication under severe hoisting conditions, a study on the tribological characteristics of lanthanum stearate modified lubricating oil (LSMLO) was carried out. First, lanthanum stearate was prepared by the saponification reaction, and its surface morphology, chemical structure, thermal stability, and dispersion stability in IRIS-550A lubricating oil (IRIS) for wire rope were analyzed. Then, the tribological properties of LSMLO were investigated through four-ball friction tests and sliding wear tests of wire ropes. The results show that stearic acid almost completely reacts to produce lanthanum stearate, which has good thermal stability and a disordered layered structure. With the help of oleic acid, the dispersion stability of lanthanum stearate in IRIS can be significantly improved. The four-ball friction tests show that the optimal addition amount of lanthanum stearate in IRIS is 0.2 wt.%, and the CoF and wear scar diameter are reduced by about 35% and 25% respectively when lubricated with LSMLO compared to that with IRIS. LSMLO can better reduce the wear of the wire rope under different sliding speeds and contact loads than IRIS, and it exhibits improved anti-friction and anti-wear properties under high speed and low load.

The friction wear and thermal fatigue cracking of the brake shoe and friction-induced self-excited vibration (frictional flutter) of the disc brake can easily occur during emergency braking of a deep coal mine hoist with at high speed and with a heavy load. Therefore, tribo-brake characteristics between the brake disc and brake shoe during emergency braking of a deep coal mine hoist are investigated in the present study. Scaled parameters of the disc brake of a deep coal mine hoist are determined by employing the similarity principle. Friction tests between friction disc and brake shoe are carried out to obtain the coefficient of friction in the case of high speed and large specific pressure between the friction disc and brake shoe. Coupled thermo-mechanical finite element analyses of the brake disc and brake shoe are established to investigate temperature and stress fields of the brake disc and brake shoe during emergency braking, which is validated by the engineering failure case. Effects of braking parameters on flutter characteristics between the brake disc and brake shoe are explored by employing a double-degrees-of-freedom vibration mechanism model. The results show that the maximum temperature, equivalent Von Mises stress and contact pressure are all located at the average friction radii of contact surfaces of the brake disc and brake shoe during emergency braking. The cage crashing accident in the case of high speed and heavy load in a typical coal mine shows crack marks and discontinuous burn marks at central locations of brake shoe and brake disc surfaces, respectively, which indicates frictional flutter characteristics between brake disc and brake shoe. During emergency braking, flutter time duration decreases with increasing initial braking speed and damping parameter; the flutter amplitude and frequency of the disc brake increases with increasing normal braking load and stiffness, respectively.

Dry waters with an average diameter of 82 μm were prepared by a high speed mixed route. The formaldehyde absorption kinetics of dry waters was investigated by simulating indoor formaldehyde pollution in glass chamber. The results showed that pseudo-second order model could be used to simulate the adsorption process; the adsorption rate was highest in the initial 60 minutes; when the adsorption lasted for 180 minutes, the adsorption reached equilibrium.

The high-speed, heavy-load and changeable triangle track wheel is a motion device that can carry out interchange between the track wheel and tire in an ordinary vehicle. The topology optimization for the support frame can reduce weight and improve the maneuverability of the vehicle. However, it is difficult to consider simultaneously its weight, stiffness and modal in the process of the structure optimization. Thus, a topology optimization method for multi-objective and multi-working-condition is proposed based on the AHP (analytic hierarchy process) and average frequency method. Firstly, considering the static multi-stiffness target and dynamic vibration frequency target, using the compromise programming method and average frequency method, the objective function of the multi-objective and multi-working-condition topology optimization is established. Then, based on the optimization target, design criteria and indexes, the lightweight hierarchical structure model of the support frame consisting of three levels and eight weight factors is established. Values of 8 weight coefficients of the multi-objective topology optimization are determined through solving the weight factor judgment matrix. Finally, considering the multi-working-condition, taking the minimum objective function of the static and dynamic characteristics as target, and the volume ratio is 50% as boundary, the mathematical model of the topology optimization is established. Simulation results show that the stiffness and strength of the support frame are improved respectively by 74.3% and 1.3% while its weight is reduced by 16.3%. This method also provides a new way to the lightweight design for other large, heavy and multi-condition equipment.

In a deep mine winding hoist system, the lateral oscillation of the catenary rope is an important evaluation index of orderly rope arrangement and engineering safety. Different boundary excitations will appear when the wire rope winds on symmetrical or asymmetrical grooves, which results in the different dynamic responses of the hoisting system. In this article, the vibration equations of a deep mine hoisting system are established by using the Hamilton principle, and excitation functions of different crossover zone layouts are deduced. The operation curves are introduced to conduct the experiment based on a certain experimental platform. The lateral oscillation of the catenary rope is recorded by high-speed cameras, and an effective image processing method is proposed to obtain the vibration response of a certain point in the catenary rope. The numerical simulations are compared with the experimental results to prove the vibration models derived in this article are valid. The models could provide reliable basis for the grooves type selection in deep mine hoisting.

Abstract The effect of a low-boiling impurity (CO2 gas <1.5% mol) on the kinetics of boiling-up of superheated n-pentane in a vertical glass tube have been studied by high-speed video (2050 fps). The method of continuous pressure decrease from 2.00 to 0.10 MPa (in the temperature range of 100.2-145.1 °C), as well as the method of measuring the lifetimes of superheated liquids at 0.10 MPa (90.2-134.1 °C) have been used. The inner surface of the tube has two visible defects, one of which defines the boundary of the attainable superheat. After degassing the system, the defects of tube cease to play an appreciable role, the active centers are redistributed. The temperature of the attainable superheat increases from the initial value by 20 °C in tests with gas and by 10 °C in subsequent tests without it. The result obtained may be related to physical gas adsorption on the glass surface during the process of evacuation of the system.

The development of technology requires higher load capacity, rotating speed, power-weight ratio, lower vibration, and noise with respect to the gear transmission. The new type microsegment gear’s tooth profile curve is composed of many microsegments. Previous researches indicate that the microsegment gear has a good static performance, while the dynamic behavior of the microsegment gear has never been investigated. This paper will focus on the dynamic performance of the gear. The profile deviation between microsegment gear and involute gear is regarded as a displacement excitation in the proposed dynamic model. The numerical analysis for three cases is conducted and the results shows that, in low-speed and heavy-load, medium-speed and medium-load conditions, microsegment gear and involute gear both exhibit a good performance, while, in high-speed and heavy-load condition, microsegment gear has a better performance than that of involute gear. The influence of backlash on the dynamic performance is also studied. It is found that the variation of backlash does not change the type of motion, but the vibration amplitude and the stability of the motion are much affected. The main idea in this paper is supposed to provide a novel method for the precision grinding of the microsegment gear.
