Italy is considered a low incidence country for tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) in Europe. Areas at higher risk for TBE in Italy are geographically clustered in the forested and mountainous regions and provinces in the north east part of the country, as suggested by TBE case series published over the last decade.

The aim of this study is to determine the physicochemical (moisture content, pH, free acidity, electrical conductivity, colour (L*, a*, b*, chroma, hue angle), ash content, fructose and glucose content) and to determine the phenolic profile (quercetin, apigenin, myricetin, isorhamnetin, kaempherol, caffeic acid, chrysin, galangin, luteolin, p-coumaric acid, gallic acid and pinocembrin) of five samples of honeydew honeys from the North East part of Romania. The honey samples analysed respected the maximum allowable level of the moisture content, which is established by the European Union at 20%. The acidic nature of the honeydew is confirmed by the level of the pH and free acidity of the samples, and is influenced in principal by the organic acids; all the samples had a free acidity lower than 50 meq acid/kg. The honey colour is dark which is confirmed by the level of the CIE L*a*b* parameters (lower values of L*, a* and b*). The inverted sugar level (fructose and glucose content) is higher than 60 g/ 100g, respecting the European Union directive. The phenolic profile of the honeydew samples do not presented one compound that can be considered a chemical marker, the major polyphenols presented into the honeydew honeys are quercetin and pinocembrin.

Abstract The analysis of some physical properties of drained peat-moorsh soil layers. The paper presents the results of measurements of some physical properties for 14 drained fen peat-moorsh layers (degree of decomposition, bulk density, particle density, porosity and saturated moisture content). The soil samples were taken from north- -east, central and east part of Poland. These areas were drained in order to use as a grassland and meadows. The article presents obtained data of selected physical properties from several drained peatlands in Poland and shows the comparison of established results with relevant data published in literature.

Background: There is wide variation in the prevalence of carcinoma stomach throughout the world. In some parts of the world it is decreasing whereas in the other parts it is increasing. Also there are variations in the risk factors of the disease. Objective: To see clinicopathological profile of patients of carcinoma stomach in North-East part of Bangladesh. Materials and Methods: Consecutive new patient diagnosed as carcinoma of stomach were interviewed and data was recorded in a data sheet. Results: Total 66 cases, age varying from 26−77 (mean 52) years, male 45 (68.2%) and female 21 (31.8%) were enrolled. Out of them 44 (66.7%) were above 45 years. People from lower economic group (51, 78.8%) and rural area (39, 59.1%) were predominantly affected. Commonest presenting symptoms were weight loss, abdominal pain and vomiting. Common site of lesion was antrum and common histopathological type was adenocarcinoma (64, 97%). Conclusion: Carcinoma stomach is a disease of older age group and male are predominantly affected. Smoking, tobacco and betel nut chewing are risk factors. Lower income group and rural people are more affected. J Enam Med Col 2019; 9(3): 166-169

These retrospective study was done to see common viral etiology of sporadic acute viral hepatitis in North East Part of Bangladesh. Consecutive patients attending in private chambers with acute or recent onset of jaundice with biochemical evidence of hepatocellular injury from January 2011 to December 2013 were enrolled. Epidemiological features and reports of viral markers i.e. HBsAg, Anti-HBc IgM, anti-HAV-IgM, Anti-HEV IgM, and Anti-HCV were retrieved. Data of 256 cases (male 195 and female 61, age ranging from 6 years to 89 years with mean 29.44 years were analyzed. Both HBsAg and anti-HBc-IgM were found positive in 98 (38.67%) cases (male 77 and female 21). Of them 39 were in 16-25 years age group. Anti-HAV IgM was found positive in 41 (16%) cases (male 30, female 11) and 27 of them were in the less than 16 years group. Anti HEV IgM was positive in 116 (45.31%) cases (male 87 and female 29). Majority (85 cases ) of HEV infection was found in 16 to 40 years age group. In this study HEV is the most frequent agent for acute sporadic viral hepatitis among adults followed by HBV. HAV is more prevalent cause of sporadic acute viral hepatitis among children.Bangladesh Med J. 2016 Sep; 45 (3): 138-140
