It has already become a tradition to research the pollution with heavy metals of surface and groundwater. Very few studies have been done to assess the ecological status of rivers in Kosovo, based on their assessment through physical-chemical parameters, such as: pH, OT, BOD5, COD, N-NH4, NO3-, NT, PO4-P, PT. Although it is known that physical-chemical pollution of surface water is present in the flow of rivers, since in the impossibility of setting up plants for the treatment of industrial and urban wastewater, in all cases their discharge is done in a way free and uncontrolled. Therefore, our object of study consists in the real evidence of physical-chemical pollution of the waters of the Curved River (Kriva Reka), a segment of which crosses the industrial area of the Artana Mine, located in the northeastern part of Kosovo. During the research work we have identified six monitoring points: M1 and M6 represent the river waters outside the industrial zone, while the other four monitoring points reflect the industrial discharge waters and the polluted river waters in the industrial zone. Classical and instrumental methods of analytical chemistry have been applied to determine physical-chemical parameters. The results obtained after the analysis of water samples give the values of physical-chemical parameters, based on which we estimate that the Curved River is characterized by poor ecological status.

The exploitation durability of Kaplan hydraulic turbines blades is first of all determined by their structure, by the steel elaboration technology, respectively by the content of non-metallic inclusions and later by the physical-chemical parameters of the exploitation environment. This paper presents a study regarding the situations in which the elaboration-casting technology of Kaplan blades using alloyed austenitic stainless steel, X5CrNiMo17-13-3 which has an important role in the quality of castings. Thus, the authors verify the formation of sulfides and of oxi-sufides during the steel elaboration process, treatment during a liquid state and their influence in the castings behavior to wearing. It is a well known fact that the presence of sulfides and oxi-sufides in the cast blades structure accelerates the corrosion process in contact with river waters.

On November 5, 2015, the rupture occurred of the Fundão dam of the mining company Samarco, located in the sub-district of Bento Rodrigues-MG, 35 km from the center of the Brazilian municipality of Mariana-MG, approximately 16.000 Olympic pools of mining residue circulated through the district of Bento Rodrigues in a period of only 11 minutes. The plume of this environmental impact extended approximately 800 km in the Rio Doce basin, between Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo. The Ipiranga river, located between Linhares and São Mateus, was one of the last sites affected by the waste from the Doce river basin, having contact with the sea in the Urussuquara-ES restinga, a place that is a nursery of biodiversity, especially the marine and estuarine ichthyofauna, besides being of great importance for artisanal fishing and ecotourism. The present study aimed to monitor the Ipiranga River and Urussuquara Beach for all seasonal seasons, beginning in September 2017 and ending in May 2018, the following variables were analyzed: dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, hydrogenation potential (pH), transparent, temperature, depth and total dissolved solids, comparing them to the Resolution CONAMA n°. 357, de 17/03/2005, with the purpose of evaluating the quality of estuarine and marine waters. The results found were alarming and evident foci of negative impacts on the aquatic ecosystem and society dependent on artisanal fishing for their subsistence.
