Introduction: Azandarian industrial zone with about 40 active silica crushing units is one of the largest industrial area in Hamadan province, Iran. Materials and methods: In this study, the personal exposure of workers in the activated silica crushing units was measured. Assessing the risk of mortality due to exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) in the workplace was then estimated through measuring the personnel exposure in accordance with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) 7601 method. Moreover, the mortality rate of lung cancer and risk of mortality due to exposure to RCS were estimated. Results: Based on the results, the average exposure of employees to RCS in the crushing units was in the range of 1.70 -0.14 mg/m3. As observed, the lowest and highest exposure was obtained for the admission unit and sandstone, respectively. In general, it can be inferred that in all studied occupation positions, the exposure level was higher than the recommended standard (0.25 mg/m3). As can be seen, the carcinogenic risk level for the exposed workers was in the range 2-26/1000. The results of risk assessment showed that the highest risk level was related to the stamping machine operator unit and the lowest was related to the administrative unit. Conclusion: Therefore, the workers working in high-risk units such as stamping machine operator and stone separation operator are more likely to suffer from adverse health complications such as silicosis, lung cancer and other respiratory complications.

Background: Split is a city in the Mediterranean, situated on Croatia’s coastline. Split’s northern coast has a long-stand-ing industrial function and harbors the city’s first electri-cal substation, designed by modernist architect Josip Maria Kodl. Objective: The goal of this work was to envision a science center in Split’s industrial zone in Dujmovača (the northern coast of the Split peninsula), comprising a science museum with a research and congress center. The programmatic and spatial analyses of the science center’s amenities and the proposal as a whole demonstrate the potential of this forgotten space in Split and breathe new life into Kodl’s ar-chitectural heritage. Methods: The proposed solution uses a dialogical narrative between a conservation, contextual, programmatic, and theoretical approach within a strict orthogonal structure, fostering the development of alternative associations and elaboration of architectural details.Results: The proposed solution constitutes a complex of multiple interconnected and flexible elements. This al-lows different parts of the Science Center to function inde-pendently of each other. This paper provides an analysis of design steps and methods, the proposal’s advantages and limitations, and the way the repurposing of industrial heri-tage was approached. Conclusion: The position of the Science Center in Dujmovača would provide one of the first impressions when entering Split on the future metro line. By reconcil-ing landscape and industrial architecture, the proposed building complex offers a framework for presenting various kinds of modifiable content, for both the pres-ent and the future.

The study of allergenic plants and their palynological complexes is of great importance for the prevention of pollinosis. Despite this, they are insufficiently studied in many countries of the world, including Russia. On the territory of the Ulyanovsk region, these studies were not carried out, although pollinosis occupy a leading place among allergic pathology. Studies have shown that the largest amount of pollen grains for the entire flowering period of allergenic plants is observed in the industrial zone. We can conclude that June and July are the most dangerous months for people with allergies. The most dangerous waves are the second and third, the least dangerous - the first. The research results must be taken into account when planning preventive measures and treating pollinosis. Key words: allergenic plants, hay fever, pollination, pollen concentration, pollen wave.

Abstract The article presents the results of comprehensive studies of the plant biodiversity near the industrial zone of the city of Tobolsk, Tyumen Oblast, Russia. Nine species of formation communities were identified: Abies sibirica Ledeb, Pineta (sylvestris), Betuleta (pendula), Betuleta (pubescens), Tilieta (cordata), Populeta (tremula), Saliceta, Prata, Emersiherbosa. Also, eleven associations were identified for the studied communities: fir forest with sedges, linden and birch; mixed small-leaved dark coniferous forest with sedges; low-shrub sphagnum pine forest; steppe birch forest; swampy low-shrub sphagnum birch forest; swampy reedgrass birch forest; linden-birch forest; cereal-horsetail-fern aspen forest; aspen forest with grass layer; aspen forest mixed with birch and sedges; mixed birch-aspen forb forest; maturing aspen-birch forest with hygrophilous grasses.

Abstract The main objective of the paper is to point out to the origin of the waste from the production of nickel at the landfill in Sereď and its physical and chemical properties that affect the environmental conditions of the site. The landfill of metallurgical technological waste in Sereď is the second largest landfill for non-ferrous metallurgy in Slovakia (Central Europe). It is located in the northern part of the Danubian Lowland, southwest of the industrial zone of town Sereď. We divided the research into two phases. The preparatory phase consisted in obtaining all available archival materials for the years 1956−1993, so from of the construction of the plant to the end of production. The production was lasting from 1963 to 1993. The second phase concerned field research and was associated with sludge sampling for laboratory analysis. The results of the analysis identified the physical and chemical properties of the sludge as well as the possibilities of its use in some sectors of the economy. The production process in the nickel smelter was stopped in 1993 due to economic (annual state production subsidy was CZK 250 million) and ecological reasons. The landfill at the city’s industrial zone has remained to this day, but it was sold to a private company in 1994, thus relieving of the state’s liability for environmental damage.

Apprenticeship training is one of the several means of developing the skills and competencies of the workforce in every economy. The small and micro-scale engineering enterprises since their inception, have been contributing towards the development of the country. This is particularly so in the manufacturing and engineering sectors where local tools, equipment and machinery are produced and serviced. The Sunyani magazine has become an emerging informal industrial zone where technical skills development is offered to individuals across different areas of engineering. This paper examined the nature of apprenticeship skills development and the associated challenges in an informal industrial zone through a cross-sectional survey. The findings suggest that on-the-job training model without pre- or post-training exams or test characterised the training of apprentices. During the skills development process of the apprentices, the master craftsmen examine the progress of the apprentices to ensure they are progressing and to determine when apprentices have acquired the needed skills to be considered certified. Despite the benefits offered to the local economy, lack of funding for new ventures, lack of government support, tools and equipment constrain the capacity of the informal industrial zone to scale-up its training capacity with the potential of being of greater benefits to the socioeconomic development of the country.

Abstract The increase in inhabitants and development of advantageous economic behavior undoubtedly leads to escalating water demand for different uses. Improper planning, mismanagement, inappropriate standards and procedure for discharging the industrial effluents are prime causes for deterioration of groundwater quality in industrial zone. The study vicinity is exaggerated by subsurface water quality problem. To evaluate the water quality of aquifer, sixty two samples were collected, analyzed and the results of the data are evaluated according to the standards. Hydro-chemical facies, rock-water process, factor analysis, correlation matrix studies were carried out for assessing the associated hydro-chemical process operating in the progress of salinity concentration. The analysis reveals that water belongs to highly brackish type. In this study zone, groundwater is influenced by water-rock interaction and evaporation process. Factor analysis shows that the groundwater is greatly deteriorated by anthropogenic activities. Based on hyrochemical study, the subsurface water is not fit for domestic purposes.

Abstract The article focuses on the analysis of the development and use of industrial zones, which represent areas for the concentrated location of manufacturing sites specialised in a particular industry, strategic services, or technology centres. Both services and industry have an impact as the top engines of Gross Domestic Product and the labour force employment both in the Czech Republic and European Union. The area and the predominant category of economic activities are important parameters of each industrial zone. They place demands on the employees, transport, technical equipment, landscape, and settlement within the impact on the territory. The main goal of the research was the analysis of the industrial zone as a territory where warehouse and production hall projects are implemented. The analysis of warehouse and production hall construction investment was performed in Žďár nad Sázavou. The study of this project presents the project impact on the industrial area and the deviation between the project plan and the audited reality. The research sample consisted of 12 selected warehouse and production hall projects located in Central and Eastern Europe in various phases of their life cycle - the planning, implementation or operational phases. One of the partial outputs of the article is a SWOT analysis which deals with variables that affect project effectiveness both from the perspective of the investor and the public in the area where they are located. Implementation and operation of such projects significantly affect public life, so their potential socio-economic impact on the economic cash flow creation was examined.

Abstract: The choice of the method is an urgent problem for the rapid and selective determination of the qualitative and quantitative composition of precipitation and surface water. Methods of capillary electrophoresis and ion chromatography have been adapted to determine the anionic composition of environmental objects in the industrial zone of Krasnoyarsk. the intensity of precipitation depends on the «wind rose». The level of pollution of atmospheric precipitation affects the level of water pollution in the Yenisei River.
