Using data from a study that involved 500 U.S. acute care hospitals, the author examines the relationship between the profitability of Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs) and their DRG weight, and the similarity/difference of the most/least profitable DRGs across hospital types. Hospital administrators are cautioned that to engage in case mix management, they must use a management information system that provides the data necessary for determining the cost of treating each patient type within their own institution, not information derived from other facilities or other systems.

Mining is the backbone of any industrial activity. Mother nature has bestowed India with good deposits of coal, iron ore, limestone, bauxite, manganese and chromite ores. Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today. To fulfill 8-10 % growth target, Indian mining industry has to increase its share from 2.4 % to 6 %. (1)Such voluminous increments can be met only by employing big size heavy earth moving machines (HEMM)(2). Dumpers are the common choice in all types of mines for material movement. There are 4200 dumpers of various sizes being used in the different mines in India. The cost of dumpers varies from Rs 1.0 crore for 35 tons to Rs 24 crore for 240 tons version.( 3) The availability and utilization percentage of dumpers is low as compared to other HEMM. Hence there is a need for continuous monitoring of operational and machine parameters. Presently, only in large mines GPS based systems are being used to monitor such parameters. In small and medium mines monitoring is manual in nature. Manual method of data generation has its own limitations with respect to time and reliability. GPS based systems are not only costly but also requires qualified manpower to operate and maintain it. This calls for indigenous development of economical management information system (MIS) which could produce temper proof on line data. This research paper discusses one such management information system developed by the authors which is economical, easy to maintain and which produces reliable data

The modern day challenge of organizations is to have in place information technology systems that can effectively service the needs of the organization, meet the rapid technological changes and be flexible to accommodate enhancements. The Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) is designed to improve systems for financial data recording, tracking and information management. This was in response to increasing demands for greater transparency and accountability in the management of the public’s finances. However, the management of public finance has continued to be dogged with corruption allegation, outright mismanagement, malpractices in the procurement processes, among others. This study seeks to determine the effectiveness of IFMIS in selected government ministries in Kenya. The objectives of the study are to determine the effect of IFMIS on the processing of accounting transactions, establish the extent to which IFMIS has enhanced the procurement process, assess the extent to which IFMIS has enhanced the production of financial records for preparation of annual accounts and to find out whether IFMIS has enhanced the budget processes in government ministries in Kenya. This study will rely on theoretical models that provide a foundation for the research topic. Specifically, this study rely on Technology Acceptance model, Theory of Budgeting and the Cost reduction theory. The study reviews empirical evidence from which conclusions are drawn.

This study was conducted to determine the utilization of the education management information system (EMIS) as a means of decision making in the institutional section at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion, Yogyakarta Special Region. This research is a qualitative research using data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. Technical analysis of data using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This research focuses on objective results with research subjects who really know, experience, and understand in this case the head of the madrasa education sector, along with the operator and the head of the SIM institutional section. The results of the study show that the basis for decision making can be completed because it has been accumulated by regulations and adopted the opinion of top managers. If the alternative answers are not satisfactory, the analysis will continue with deliberation with stakeholders and elements of the madrasa.Decision-making and Utilization of EMIS data during the study showed that EMIS plays a role in the distribution of the budget contained in the PIP program (smart Indonesia program), Madrasah BOS, National Examination student data, transfer and appointment of principals, equitable distribution of teachers and madrasa infrastructure, and the contribution of data The EMIS is utilized by the People's and Community Welfare Bureau, and the Provincial Government Legal Bureau. In addition, EMIS also plays a role in providing infrastructure assistance. EMIS development needs to be improved with new innovations. Data updates must be done frequently, always input as long as there are dynamics of data changes so that they are up to date. Reports on development, development, performance improvement should be based on EMIS data. The dynamics in society continue to exist at all times, for example there are students who move, teachers who transfer, teachers who are appointed as acting. Then EMIS must be updated every day.

Satoedjari Merch is one of the companies that utilize convection system in managing information as a support order. After implementing a management information system, the necessary attention is to the quality of the system so that it can scale very well and as needed. Order Management System in Satoedjari Merch is still in the early stages of use, it requires quality testing system to maximize its benefit. One of good software quality is if it meets those aspects of McCall's Quality Factor. This study uses Product Operation aspect, because this aspect tests the quality related with system activity when the system is used. In the aspect of product operations, there are five factors that is correctness, reliability, efficiency, integrity and usability. According to the test results, it is known that the Order Management Information Systems of Satoedjari Merch for operator system excellent quality are the truth factor, reliability, convenience and efficient. Factors that have low values are on the relationship system and data security.

In realization of interoperation process of inter-provincial interconnection charges security management and highway emergency response and service systems, breadth-first interoperation, depth-first interoperation and mixed interoperation are widely used. This paper gives a brief introduction of these three methods. And for breadth-first interoperation, gives the example of authentication that used in the real system. At last, for mixed interoperation, the cost function and the steps in realization is talked about.

Historical cost control data are reviewed on a nondimensional basis and a method is developed for fixed pricing large, high-risk overhauls in public shipyards. This method is then applied as a control measure to monitor the projection of end cost. Recommendations are given which could improve the Shipyard Management Information System (MIS) and the shipyard's ability to utilize information contained in this system. By using the fundamental concepts presented in this paper as an educational tool, funds administrators can further develop the cost prediction, analysis and control processes.
