New results for FBS late-type stars using Gaia EDR3 data

Abstract We study in this paper bright late-type giants found in the First Byurakan Survey (FBS) data base. Phase dependent light-curves from large sky area variability data bases such as Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) and All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN), and the early installment of the third Gaia data release (Gaia EDR3) photometric and astrometric data have been used to characterize our sample of 1 100 M-type giants and 130 C-type stars found at high latitudes. Gaia radial velocities (RV) are available for 134 and luminosities for 158 stars out of 1 100. We show the behaviour of our sample stars in a Gaia color–absolute magnitude diagram (CaMD), the Gaia-2MASS-diagram from Lebzelter et al. with some alternative versions. In this way we explore the potential of these diagrams and their combination for the analysis and interpretation of datasets of LPVs. We show the possibility to classify stars into M- and C-types and to identify the mass of the bulk of the sample stars.

We study in this paper variability of the late-type M giants found in the First Byurakan Survey (FBS) spectroscopic data base. We used phase dependent light – curves from large sky area variability data bases such as Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) and All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN). We used also the distance information derived from Gaia EDR3 to construct the Galactic distribution of the M – type giants from the second edition of the FBS Late-Type Stars catalogue including various kinds of long period variables.

ABSTRACT We present optical I-band light curves of the stars towards a star-forming region Cygnus OB7 from 17-night photometric observations. The light curves are generated from a total of 381 image frames with very good photometric precision. From the light curves of 1900 stars and their periodogram analyses, we detect 31 candidate variables including five previously identified. 14 out of 31 objects are periodic and exhibit the rotation rates in the range of 0.15–11.60 d. We characterize those candidate variables using optical/infrared colour–colour diagram and colour–magnitude diagram (CMD). From spectral indices of the candidate variables, it turns out that four are probably Classical T-Tauri stars (CTTSs), rest remain unclassified from present data, they are possibly field stars or discless pre-main-sequence stars towards the region. Based on their location on the various CMDs, the ages of two T Tauri Stars were estimated to be ∼5 Myr. The light curves indicate at least five of the periodic variables are eclipsing systems. The spatial distribution of young variable candidates on Planck 857 GHz (350 $\mu$m) and 2MASS (Two Micron All Sky Survey) Ks images suggest that at least two of the CTTSs are part of the active star-forming cloud Lynds 1003.

The second Gaia data release (Gaia DR2) data are used to analyze and estimate some important parameters for 127 carbon (C) type stars (56 are late N - type Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) C stars, 71 are early type CH giants) detected on the First Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey (FBS) low-resolution (lr) spectral plates. Gaia DR2 G broad band magnitudes are in the range 9.4m < G < 18.2m. for FBS C stars. Radial velocities (RV) is available for 75 C stars out of 127. For 9 objects RV is greater than 200 km/s. Absolute magnitudes in V band are estimated for 18 FBS C stars, having luminosity data, from which 17 are CH giants. They are in the range between -3.5m ≤ MV < +0.5m. For FBS 1918+869 absolute magnitude MV = -3.4(±0.2)m, which is typical for N type AGB C stars. Having distance estimations, the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram (HRD, or color - absolute magnitude diagram) was constructed for C stars. All FBS detected C stars are giants and AGB stars in the Galactic Halo. They are not far than 14 kpc from the Sun and 8 kpc from the Galactic plane.

Eighteen lists of late-type stars (LTSs) have been published between 1990 and 2016. These LTSs have been found in the low-dispersion spectroscopic plates of the First Byurakan Survey (FBS). The systematic search and selection was carried out on a surface _16000 deg2 on almost the whole area of the FBS. As a result, \Revised And Updated Catalogue Of The First Byurakan Survey Of Late-Type Stars" was generated (LTSs, _rst version). Since 2007, all FBS low-resolution spectral plates are digitized, and Digitized First Byurakan Survey (DFBS) database and second catalog of objects has been assembled. All DFBS spectral plates are analysed with the help of standard image analysis softwares (FITSView and SAO Image ds9) and numerous of comparatively faint LTSs were discovered. We present the 2nd version of the FBS catalogue of LTSs with new data. We have made cross-correlation with the Digitized First Byurakan Survey (DFBS), the United State Naval Observatory-B1.0 Catalogue, the Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS), the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (new version-ALLWISE) catalogue, the Infrared Astronomical Satellite Point Source Catalogue/Faint Source Catalogue, the AKARI catalogue, the ROSAT Bright Source Catalogue/Faint Source Catalogue, the General Catalogue of Variable Stars, Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) photometric catalogue. We have added updated IMBAD data for the objects. For numerous of the new detected objects we present accurate Digitized Sky Survey 2 positions, approximate spectral subtypes refined from the DFBS low-dispersion spectra, luminosity classes estimated from 2MASS colours, and available proper motions for 1471 FBS LTSs. 2nd Version of the Revised and Updated Catalogue lists a large number of completely new objects, which promise to extend very significantly the census of M giants, faint N-type Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) carbon stars, CH {type carbon giants at high Galactic latitudes, also M dwarfs in the vicinity of the Sun up to 16.0-17.0 mag. in visual. We present also some important data from the Gaia DR2 data base for FBS LTSs. Some supplementary spectra obtained with the Byurakan Observatory 2.6 m telescope and LAMOST telescope are shown.

Using Sloan Digital Sky Survey SDSS catalog, some intrinsic characteristics of Quasars (10,000 points) are developed of these are the strong correlations between redshifts and other parameters, e.g. combined magnitude, luminosity, and absolute magnitude .Moreover ,the Karlsson peak of our sample is also computed.

ABSTRACT We present the first analysis of results from the SuperWASP variable stars Zooniverse project, which is aiming to classify 1.6 million phase-folded light curves of candidate stellar variables observed by the SuperWASP all sky survey with periods detected in the SuperWASP periodicity catalogue. The resultant data set currently contains &gt;1 million classifications corresponding to &gt;500 000 object–period combinations, provided by citizen–scientist volunteers. Volunteer-classified light curves have ∼89 per cent accuracy for detached and semidetached eclipsing binaries, but only ∼9 per cent accuracy for rotationally modulated variables, based on known objects. We demonstrate that this Zooniverse project will be valuable for both population studies of individual variable types and the identification of stellar variables for follow-up. We present preliminary findings on various unique and extreme variables in this analysis, including long-period contact binaries and binaries near the short-period cut-off, and we identify 301 previously unknown binaries and pulsators. We are now in the process of developing a web portal to enable other researchers to access the outputs of the SuperWASP variable stars project.

ABSTRACT We present criteria for the selection of M-dwarfs down to G < 14.5 using all-sky survey data, with a view to identifying potential M-dwarfs, to be confirmed spectroscopically by the FunnelWeb survey. Two sets of criteria were developed. The first, based on absolute magnitude in the Gaia G passband, with MG > 7.7, selects 76,392 stars, with 81.0 per cent expected to be M-dwarfs at a completeness of >97 per cent. The second is based on colour and uses Gaia, WISE, and 2MASS all-sky photometry. This criteria identifies 94,479 candidate M-dwarfs, of which between 29.4 per cent and 47.3 per cent are expected to be true M-dwarfs, and which contains 99.6 per cent of expected M-dwarfs. Both criteria were developed using synthetic galaxy model predictions, and a previously spectroscopically classified set of M- and K-dwarfs, to evaluate both M-dwarf completeness and false-positive detections (i.e. the non-M-dwarf contamination rate). Both criteria used in combination demonstrate how each excludes different sources of contamination. We therefore developed a final set of criteria that combines absolute magnitude and colour selection to identify 74,091 stars. All these sets of criteria select numbers of objects feasible for confirmation via massively multiplexed spectroscopic surveys like FunnelWeb.

Statistical studies are reported in this article for an active galactic nuclei sample of different type of active galaxies Seyferts 1, Seyferts 2, and Quasars. These sources have been selected from a Catalogue for bright X-ray galaxies. The name of this index is ROSAT Bright Source Catalogue (RBSC) and the NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS). In this research, multi-wavelength observational bands Radio at 1.4 GHz, Optical at 4400 A0, and X-ray at energy 0.1-2.4 KeV have been adopted in this study. The behavior of flux density ratios has been studied ,  with respect to the absolute magnitude . Furthermore, the Seyfert1 and Seyfert 2 objects are combined in one group and the QSOs are collectest in another group. Also, it has been found that the ratios , are increasing towards fainter optical absolute magnitude especially in Quasars.

The current state of investigation of galaxies in seven fields of the Second Byurakan Sky Survey (SBS) is presented. These fields have been selected by the results of completeness estimation of the samples of galaxies in 65 fields.Observations of the SBS faint candidate galaxies are carried out to complete spectroscopy of galaxies in the selected fields. Currently in one SBS field, with coordinates of center α=15h30m and δ=+59°, the spectra of all galaxies have been obtained and reduced. Besides the redshift and spectral classification, these data allow estimates of the quality of object selection in the Second Byurakan Survey at faint magnitudes.
