AbstractPopulation change in Myzus persicae (Sulz.) overwintering on spring cabbage in south-eastern England was studied in relation to meteorological and biological factors. Leaf surface wetness and temperature were correlated significantly with rate of population change, but rainfall and wind were not. Growth and development continued slowly throughout the winter, and the relationship with temperature is shown. Hymenopterous parasites, the fungus Entomophthora and predatory spiders did not affect winter survival.

The new issue of the journal «Current Problems of Europe» opens with the problem-oriented article, dedicated to the analysis of the state of the Balkans / South-Eastern Europe region and its development in 2000-2020. The author gives a systemic description of the processes taking place in the intra-national and international intra-regional political, social and economic development of the countries of the region, and the problems generated by them. The changes are associated with a difficult transition phase, experienced by the states of the region, for the most part belonging to the post-socialist world (Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania). The exceptions are Greece, Turkey and Cyprus, however, these three states are also going through a difficult period in their history, associated with new problems both in interstate relations within this triangle, and in relations with NATO and the EU, as well as with Russia. The article discusses the specifics of translating the terms «people» and «national» into Russian, as well as the toponym Kosovo (Serb.) / Kosova (Alb.), and ethnonyms «Bošnjak» and «bosanac». The first part of the issue contains articles devoted to general problems of regional studies: the relationship between the terms Eastern Europe, Central Europe, South-Eastern Europe, Balkans, Western Balkans; comparative and political science subjects; the role of the European Union and China in the development of the region; the relationship of national Serbian, post-Yugoslavian and European culture and intellectual heritage as well. The second part of the issue examines the relations of the Balkan states with the states of Central and Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Romania, Belarus), as well as the specifics of their development in the post-socialist period. Thus, there is the possibility of a multilateral - historical, political and cultural, as well as comparative analysis of the development of this complex region, which is of great importance for international relations worldwide.

Breastfeeding history, mother and children characteristics, and child care are considered influential on child intellegence. This study aimed to determine the proportion of exclusive breastfeeding, the level of childrens intellegence, mother and children characteristics, the relationship between duration of breastfeeding with the level of students intellegence. This research used a cross-sectional design and through systematic random sampling with a sample size of 166 respondents (students aged 7 - 9 years old) and their mothers. The intellegence was tested using the Raven test while their mothers were interviewed. The results showed that the level of childrens intellegence was high (57.2%), average (36.7%), and low (6%). Those variables which related to the intellegence level were duration of breastfeeding and the level of mothers education. The mothers education level is one of the factors which has higher effect, againts the childrens intellegence. Those mothers who have high level education will have probability 3,556 to have their children with high level intellegence (after controlling the duration breastfeeding). Suggestion; The Department of Education Bekasi city to organize activities relevant to the improving of parents in growth and development of their children through seminars/training/counseling.

Sandpits are commonly found in playgrounds but in a world full of high-tech entertainment is their role in the developmental growth of young children undervalued? Professor Hiroyuki Kasama, Doshisha Women's College, Japan, is exploring the impact of sandpits on children, including the role they can play in deepening the relationship between parent and child. Sandpits first came about in Europe in the mid-19th century but have recently become unfavourable to many parents who consider them to be 'dirty' play. However, playing with sand yields important benefits, including the use of natural materials and the fact it provides a valuable sensory experience that enables children to build on emotional, social and athletic skills. Kasama is investigating the important potential of sandpits as well as working on childcare and education programmes that use sandpits for learning. Kasama is keen to improve the sandpit environment by standardising the type of sand used in order to make play more effective and observing the suitability of the sand by observing children's play and the reactions of their caregivers. Kasama and the team have also supervised the installation of indoor sandpits that can be used year-round. Ultimately, by clarifying the significance and necessity of playing with sand and discovering its potential, Kasama is aiming to provide children with effective environments that promote growth and development.

The relationship between the various human activities and seismic activity has become more evident in the last several decades. One of the important domains where such a relationship manifests itself is hydrocarbon fields’ development. South East Tatarstan (Russia) is a region where the link between seismicity and the development of the giant Romashkino hydrocarbon field has been established. The goal of the current study is to conduct the causative analysis between the seismic activity and the development of the Romashkino hydrocarbon field’s Almetyevskaya area which is located in the most seismically active zone of the south-eastern Tatarstan.

The Miocene Conidae and Conorbidae of the central- and south-eastern European Paratethys Sea are revised. In total, 74 species are described of which 10 are new species and 5 are documented for the first time from Paratethyan localities. Species descriptions and delimitations are partly based on morphometric data. In addition, colour patterns are described for the first time for the majority of species. In respect to the ongoing discussion on the supraspecific treatment of extant Conidae, we strongly focus on generic allocations and provide a key for the genera as understood herein. Biogeographically, the larger part of the assemblage indicates affiliation with modern western African faunas as indicated by the occurrence of genera such as Lautoconus, Kalloconus, Monteiroconus and Pseudonoduloconus. The relationship with Indo-West Pacific faunas is comparatively low. The high alpha-diversities observed for localities in the Pannonian, Transylvanian and Vienna basins, with up to 44 species, is a marker of tropical conditions in the Paratethys Sea during middle Miocene times.        Conasprella minutissima nov. sp., Kalloconus hendricksi nov. sp., Kalloconus letkesensis nov. sp., Kalloconus pseudohungaricus nov. sp., Lautoconus kovacsi nov. sp., Lautoconus pestensis nov. sp., Lautoconus quaggaoides nov. sp., Leporiconus paratethyianus nov. sp., Plagioconus breitenbergeri nov. sp. and Plagioconus bellissimus nov. sp. are described as new species; Conilithes eichwaldi nov. nom. is proposed as new name for Conus exiguus Eichwald, 1830 [non Lamarck, 1810].

AbstractHaving treatment in a hospital (hospitalization) is an unpleasant and threatening experience for everyone, especially for children who are still in the process of growth and development. One way to resolve this problem is to use therapeutic communication effectively which will and will be carried out nursing actions. To communicate with children, special approaches or techniques are needed so that the relationship can run well according to the child's growth and development. One of the predisposing factors according to Lawrencen Green's theory is knowledge, when a nurse has good knowledge, her ability in therapeutic communication will be good too. The aim of study is to determine the relationship of knowledge with the therapeutic communication skills of nurses in pediatric patients. This research uses survey analytic methode with crosssectional. Sample in the study were 66 nurses in inpatient rooms of Graha Husada Hospital, technique purposive samplingfor sampling.Data analysis using the Spearman Rank (Rho) correlation test with a significance level (α = 0.05)  is obtained p value 0.025 (p <0.05). There is relationship of knowledge with therapeutic communication ability of nurses in pediatric patients treated at Graha Husada Hospital  Bandar Lampung. Nurses are expected to be able to improve services in providing nursing care to pediatric patients, especially preschool age pediatric patients.

Substandard housing is a major public health issue in New Zealand. Approximately, two-thirds of the housing stock is uninsulated and many homes are inadequately heated, with an average indoor temperature of 14.5°C. Cold, damp, and mouldy housing results in poor health; each year, respiratory hospital admissions are 74% higher during winter, and excess winter mortality is 20% higher than other seasons. The relationship between injury and housing conditions is also well established. Each year, 500,000 New Zealanders suffer falls requiring medical treatment in their homes. As a step towards improving the quality of existing housing, an evidence-based warrant of fitness has been developed. This article outlines the evidence base to each criterion in the warrant of fitness. We conclude that introducing and properly enforcing a housing warrant of fitness will ensure that basic minimum standards are met, which could mitigate the disease burdens and injuries associated with, or caused, by poorer quality housing. In addition, there are potential fiscal and economic advantages of the scheme, including reduced hospitalisations and increased productivity.
