ABSTRACTPhotographs taken during a clear, moonless night from the walkway of the dome of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope on Mauna Kea show light trespass from street lighting in Hilo and in Waimea and the sky glow from the growing area around Kona. More full cut-off fixtures would help to prevent deterioration of the quality of the Mauna Kea site.

Luminance measurements are used in a vast range of lighting technology fields. The author’s research has proved that measuring the luminance distribution on light source surface is the most challenging part of this process. The research has been conducted for a commercially available digital luminance distribution meter, with the goal of analyzing the influence of image focus settings and exposure parameters on the measured luminance values. It has been concluded that the incorrect image focus and inadequately matched exposure parameters (distance from the workpiece) contribute to quantitative changes in the information on luminance distribution on the LED surface and affect the precision the maximum luminance determination. Public street lighting management is a well known problemwhich can be revisited from the perspective of Smart Cities. In Smart Cities there is an interconnection of services andinfrastructure to provide sustainable growth and improvementsin citizens’ quality of life. In this research work, weexplore new low cost technologies to create a smart streetlight system capable of monitoring and controlling the lamps, thus reducing the costs with maintenance and allowing amore rational use of electricity.

AbstractProvided that LED street lighting is guided by quality principles, outdoor illumination using light-emitting diodes will have a significant global impact helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, save relevant amounts of electricity and enhance the quality of life in cities as well as in remote areas. This study summarizes recent findings providing guidelines for further progress in this crucially important technology on the common pathway to sustainable development.

Abstract Quality of the lighting columns plays a major role in the comfort and safety of life of road users. The surface quality of the materials used in the columns is especially critical during extreme weather conditions. Road infrastructure, including street lighting, uses modern lightweight materials from the group of non-ferrous materials or composites. The materials used in the manufacturing process ensure important advantages, such as durability, electrical safety, aesthetic qualities, low maintenance costs, light weight, and easy transport and assemble. This paper presents an analysis of the quality of coatings used for street lighting columns.

Complaints are an important factor to assist the government in improving the quality of public services. During 2016-2020 in the City Government of Surabaya, the Green Open Space Cleaning Service was ranked as the top 5 Regional Apparatus Organization that received a lot of complaints. The highest complaint was related to public street lighting in the city of Surabaya. The purpose of this study was to determine the service for handling complaints about public street lighting(PJU) at the Dinas Kebersihan Ruang Terbuka Hijau (DKRTH) Surabaya City. This research uses qualitative methods with qualitative data analysis techniques. The results showed that the complaint handling service of the Dinas Kebersihan Ruang Terbuka Hijau (DKRTH) was based on the Peraturan Daerah No. 4 Tahun 2014 Pasal 38 Ayat 2 concerning the Complaint Handling System, namely: 1). In the institutional aspect, there are a series of work rules, allowed and prohibited actions in handling complaints, and information provided to the public. 2). Procedural aspects, response when receiving complaints and follow-up complaints. 3). Integrative, available channels between officers and available media channels for the public. 4). Comprehensive in nature, examines the type and nature of complaints.
