O-(Dichlorosilyl)-N,N-dimethylhydroxylamine, Cl2HSiONMe2, was synthesised by the reaction of O-lithio-N,N-dimethylhydroxylamine with an excess of trichlorosilane. The compound was characterised by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 15N, 29Si), gas-phase IR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The structure of Cl2HSiONMe2 was determined by gas-phase electron diffraction. It exists as two conformers in the vapour, named anti and gauche after the position of the SiH hydrogen atom relative to the SiON skeleton. The anti:gauche ratio in the vapour was determined to be 40:60. The anti conformer shows only a weak attractive interaction between the geminal donor and acceptor centres N and Si [angle Si-O-N 111.1(20)°], whereas these interactions are stronger in the gauche conformer [angle Si-O-N 98.8(12)°]. Further structure-determining forces from weak hydrogen bridges of the Si-Cl ···H-C type and van der Waals repulsive forces are also discussed. The experimental results are in reasonable agreement with ab initio calculations at the MP2/6-311++G** level of theory.

A new class of hybrid ruteno-cuprates – such as Ru-1212 and Ru-1222 – was discovered in 1995 by Bauerfeind and collaborators. These materials present superconducting and magnetic states at low temperatures, an atypical duality in other superconductors. The superconductivity is more easily observed in Ru-1222, while Ru-1212 is a more problematic case, due to the strong effects of the preparation details in its superconducting properties, becoming the material superconductor or not. Ru-1212 presents a critical temperature that can vary between 0 and 46 K, depending on the preparation conditions, and a temperature of magnetic transition of around 132 K. The samples were prepared through solid state reactions, by using a mixture of high purity powders, followed by calcination and sinterization in the nitrogen and oxygen atmospheres. This paper shows the preparation process of Ru-1212 samples, followed by their structural and magnetic characterization.

Five nanosized perovskite and four ferrospinel powders were prepared by sol–gel self-combustion technique. The La0.6Pb0.2Mg0.2MnO3 perovskite was found to exhibit the best catalytic performance with respect to propane combustion at low temperatures.

Direct oxidation of benzene to phenol in liquid phase by H2O2peroxide was examined over Ti/ LUS-1 catalyst in methanol and acetic acid as solvents. The maximum yield and selectivity of the phenol produced was obtained in the presence of acetic acid. It can be attributed to the stabilization of H2O2as peroxy acetic acid species in the radical mechanism for this reaction. Acetic acid interacts with hydrogen peroxide over Ti/LUS-1 and produces acetoxy radicals.

Monoclinic scheelite BiVO4 was synthesized from a mixture of aqueous Bi(NO3)3 and NH4VO3 solutions by hydrothermal method. Then using successive coating of BiVO4 with a carbon layer and a ZrO2 layer followed by heat treatment to remove the carbon layer prepared a core-shell(ZrO2@void@BiVO4) nanoparticles with a void layer between the BiVO4 core and the ZrO2 shell. TG-DTA and IR suggest that BiVO4 was coated with ZrO2. TEM shows that there was a void space between the BiVO4 core and the ZrO2 shell. The samples were characterized by XRD and the peaks of ZrO2@void@BiVO4 suits well with the pure phase monoclinic scheelite BiVO4. And its visble-light photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the photodegradation of methylene blue(MB). The results indicated that the photocatalytic activity of ZrO2@void@BiVO4 is similar to that of pure phase BiVO4, which makes it can be used for preparing liquid-gas phase boundary visble-light photocatalyst.
