Abstract. Because of factor score indeterminacy, there can be substantial shifts in the theoretical meaning of factors and their corresponding score estimates. Therefore, the original factor pattern should be compared with the regression-component loadings (Schönemann & Steiger, 1976) corresponding to the factor-score estimates in order to detect possible shifts in the theoretical meaning. Especially with large loading matrices the similarity of the original factor pattern and the regression components of the score estimates may be ascertained by means of congruency coefficients. It is shown that these congruencies contain information that is not already given by measures of factor-score indeterminacy. Two examples illustrate the use of regression-component analysis for different types of factor-score estimates. The analyses reveal that the Bartlett-score estimates are most appropriate when factor interpretation is based on the factor pattern, which is usually the case in confirmatory factor analysis.

Decline in air quality over the years has been linked to the growing rate of urbanization as well as an increase in the number of vehicles occasioned by the increased purchasing power of the people. Most of the pollutants emitted from vehicular activities have been observed to have adverse effects on individuals as well as the atmosphere. The focus of this study is to employ multivariate and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) based on maximum likelihood estimation, to study the incidence of vehicular emissions in some parts of Benin city metropolis. Seven (7) georeferenced points (University of Benin main gate, Ekosodin junction, Agen Junction, Super D junction, Nitel junction, Okhunmwun junction and Oluku market junction) were used for data collection. Pollutants from vehicular emission, namely; dinitrogen oxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO) including the total radiation were monitored in the morning and evening for a period (7th July to 12th August, 2020) with the aid of portable toxic gas monitors and radiation alert meters. Other measured parameters of interest include maximum temperature and wind speed. To ascertain the quality of the data, selected preliminary analysis, namely; test of normality, test of homogeneity, outlier detection and reliability test were done. With a calculated partial Eta squared based on Pillai’s trace of 0.325, it was concluded that; there exist about 32.50 % variability among the dependent variables. Based on the CFA results, it was concluded that the hypothesis formulated for multivariate analysis of variance fits the sample data. Therefore, the alternate hypothesis was rejected and it was concluded that; the difference in the concentration of vehicular emission was as a result of change in temperature occasioned by time of measurement.

Background: We wish to share the results of the scale we developed on the subject by evaluating the validity and reliability test of the career management scale in sports organizations. Methods: The study group consists of 317 participants working in provincial directorates of sports. The construct validity of the scale was tested by explanatory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Scale reliability was measured with Cronbach's Alpha and test-retest. The discrimination of the scale was tested based on the difference between the lower 27% and the upper 27%.A correlation analysis was carried out between scale factors. To calculate the reliability of 30 items in the career management scale, “Cronbach’s Alpha”, the internal consistency coefficient, was calculated. Results: The overall reliability of the scale was found to be very high as Alpha = 0.976. The analysis results showed that the fit statistics calculated with the confirmatory factor analysis fit well, and positive correlations were found between the dimensions of the scale and overall scores as a result of the correlation analysis (p <0.05). Keywords: Career, Career Management, Sports Management, Organizational Career Management, Individual Career Management

There is little consensus on the relationship between intelligence and creativity. This study aimed to investigate the associations between these constructs considering the importance that creativity has for positive psychology. Two studies were conducted using two test batteries: the first with 876 children and adolescents (55% female) using the Battery for Assessment of High Abilities/Giftedness and the second with 285 adolescents (54% female) with the Battery for Assessing Intelligence and Creativity. The results were analyzed by exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and indicated that intelligence and figural and verbal creativity are independent factors, with little correlation between figural creativity and intelligence and a moderate relationship between verbal creativity and intelligence. In conclusion, it is necessary to evaluate both intelligence and the different types of creativity considering their contributions for identifying human potential and their influence on wellness.

This study examined various psychometric properties of the items comprising the shame and guilt scales of the Test of Self-Conscious Affect–Adolescent. A total of 563 adolescents (321 females and 242 males) completed these scales, and also measures of depression and empathy. Confirmatory factor analysis provided support for an oblique two-factor model, with the originally proposed shame and guilt items comprising shame and guilt factors, respectively. Also, shame correlated with depression positively and had no relation with empathy. Guilt correlated with depression negatively and with empathy positively. Thus, there was support for the convergent and discriminant validity of the shame and guilt factors. Multiple-group confirmatory factor analysis comparing females and males, based on the chi-square difference test, supported full metric invariance, the intercept invariance of 26 of the 30 shame and guilt items, and higher latent mean scores among females for both shame and guilt. Comparisons based on the difference in root mean squared error of approximation values supported full measurement invariance and no gender difference for latent mean scores. The psychometric and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

Background: Assessing the preparedness of junior doctors to use vancomycin is important in medical education. Preparedness is typically evaluated by self-reported confidence surveys.Materials and Methods: An eight-item vancomycin prescribing confidence questionnaire was developed, piloted, and evaluated. The questionnaire responses were collected from 195 junior doctors and a series of statistical techniques, such as principal component analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, and were implemented to examine the validity and reliability. Results: The principal component analysis supported a one-factor structure, which was fed into a confirmatory factor analysis model resulting in a good fit [comparative fit index (CFI) = 0.99, Tucker–Lewis index (TLI) = 0.99, root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) = 0.08, standardized root mean square residual (SRMR) = 0.04]. Ordinal-based α was 0.95, and various ωs were all above 0.93, indicating a high reliability level. The questionnaire responses were further proved to be robust to extreme response patterns via item response tree modeling. Jonckheere–Terpstra test results (z = 6.5237, p = 3.429e−11) showed that vancomycin prescribing confidence differed based on the experience in order (i.e., four ordinal independent groups: “≤10 times,” “11–20 times,” “21–30 times,” and “≥31 times”) and therefore provided external validity evidences for the questionnaire. Conclusions: The questionnaire is valid and reliable such that teaching hospitals can consider using it to assess junior doctors' vancomycin prescribing confidence. Further investigation of the questionnaire can point to the relationship between the prescribing confidence and the actual performance.
