Abstract. Background: The PMH-scale is a person-centered, brief and psychometrically sound scale measuring positive mental health. Considering the practicality of the scale and the good psychometric properties reported previously, the adaptation of the PMH-scale to Turkish may provide professionals and researchers a beneficial tool to assess well-being. Aims: This study was designed to investigate the psychometric properties of the Positive Mental Health Scale among Turkish university students by utilizing a cross-sectional correlational survey model. Method: For the adaptation of the scale, different validity and reliability tests were performed. Confirmatory factor analysis was run for construct validity. Convergent validity was assessed by examining relations of the scale with Life Orientation Test, Short Depression-Happiness Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, and General Self-Efficacy Scale. Reliability was assessed with internal consistency and composite reliability. Measurement invariance across genders was tested through Structural Equation Modelling. Results: Validity and reliability analyses provided satisfactory results. Results of confirmatory factor analysis revealed that current data fit the original unidimensional model. Besides, measurement invariance analysis provided validity evidence in terms of gender invariance. Limitations: Findings of the present study were limited to university students, most of whom were female. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Turkish Positive Mental Health Scale was found to be valid and reliable in the sample of university students.

Research Problem / Aim The aim of this study was to introduce the psychometric properties of the Student Engagement Scale for Online Learning which was used to measure the engagement of students in online learning environment by using the validity and reliability study in the sample of university students who took lessons online. Method There were studies conducted with the scale in Turkey. However, this study carried out with a sample of students who meet the requirement of taking online course. Original scale consists of three sub-dimensions. Name of the sub-dimensions are “Behavioral Engagement”, “Emotional Engagement” and “Cognitive Engagement”. The psychometric properties of the instrument were presented by translation, linguistic equivalence, validity and reliability studies. Translation to Turkish of the scale was made by the researchers. A preliminary form was formed by taking the opinions of a total of six experts that one of them from the department of ELT (English language teaching), one of them from educational measurement & evaluation, one of them from Turkish language teaching, one of them from education psychology, and two of them were educational technology.  For linguistic equivalence, the preliminary form was applied to 20 ELT students. The correlation analysis show that the linguistic equivalence of the scale had shown significant correlation between the Turkish and English forms. After the linguistic equivalence was provided, last form of the scale was applied to 587 university students enrolled at the Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Amasya University. Results and Conclusions As a result of the analyzes, confirmatory factor analysis fit indices was calculated as Χ2/sd: 2.827, GFI: .93, AGFI: .91, CFI: .98, NFI: .97, RMSEA: .05 and SRMR: .06. Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficients that calculated for the reliability of the sub-dimensions were between .71 and .86. Grit, as a positive psychological trait, could affect the stability of nursing workforce and nurses’ physical and mental health continuously. The Short Grit Scale (Grit-S) with fewer items than the original Grit Scale was widely used to measure individual trait-level grit. However, the psychological properties of Grit-S among Chinese nurses have not been verified. A self-designed sociodemographic questionnaire was used to investigate 709 Chinese nurses in the study, and Grit-S, Big Five Inventory-44, Brief Self-Control Scale, 10-item Connor-Davidson resilience scale, and Task Performance Scale were adopted to collect information of grit, personality, self-control, resilience, and work performance. The confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, and multi-group confirmatory factor analysis were conducted to verify the psychometric properties of the Grit-S. The results demonstrated that the Grit-S had sound validity and reliability among Chinese nurse samples and had good measurement invariance across nurses in general hospitals and psychiatric hospitals. The results of this study provide confidence in using the grit measurement among Chinese nurse in the future.

Studies on the concept of happiness have led to questions about whether all symptoms of happiness correspond to a real and healthy emotional state. Therefore, in this research, a scale was developed to examine the concept of “authentic happiness” coined by Seligman. Firstly, literature that explains authentic happiness and defines its relationship to other psychological concepts was reviewed, and then a theoretical framework was developed based on this information and the psychometric characteristics of the scale were introduced. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the fit indices were compatible with twodimensional structure. These two dimensions have been entitled as “Authentic Happiness” and “Fluctuating Happiness”. Based on the findings of the present study, the Authentic Happiness Scale (AHS) is a reliable and valid scale to determine the authentic happiness levels of university students.

ABSTRACT Objective: analyze and assess the psychometric properties of the subscales in the Spanish version of the Exercise Benefits/Barriers Scale in an elderly population in the Northeast of Mexico. Method: methodological study. The sample consisted of 329 elderly associated with one of the five public centers for senior citizens in the metropolitan area of Northeast Mexico. The psychometric properties included the assessment of the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, the Kaiser Meyer Olkin coefficient, the inter-item correlation, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Results: in the principal components analysis, two components were identified based on the 43 items in the scale. The item-total correlation coefficient of the exercise benefits subscale was good. Nevertheless, the coefficient for the exercise barriers subscale revealed inconsistencies. The reliability and validity were acceptable. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the elimination of items improved the goodness of fit of the baseline scale, without affecting its validity or reliability. Conclusion: the Exercise Benefits/Barriers subscale presented satisfactory psychometric properties for the Mexican context. A 15-item short version is presented with factorial structure, validity and reliability similar to the complete scale.

The purpose of this study was to examine the validity and reliability of Perceived Autonomy Support Scale for Exercise Settings (PASSES; Hagger et al., 2007) from teacher and from peers in Turkish context. It was conducted with volunteer university students. 230 university students completed PASSES from teacher, and 142 university students completed PASSES from peers. Each scale has 12 items with a unidimension structure. The items were rated on a 7-point Likert type scale from totally disagree (1) to totally agree (7). Each scale was analyzed by using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to determine validity and by using Cronbach alpha value to determine reliability. The validity analyses for each scale showed good fit indexes in Turkish context. The reliability analyses also showed high reliability scores for each scale. Results were consistent with previous studies. It was suggested that PASSES from teacher and from peers can be used in Turkish context.

Abstract Background: Self-management is the most important component in the treatment of chronic diseases, including multiple sclerosis (MS). The Bishop and Frain Multiple Sclerosis Self-Management Scale–Revised (MSSM-R) is one of the valid tools available for self-management assessment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the MSSM-R in Iranian people with MS. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2018 in the 1600 people with MS in Guilan Province, Iran. In this study, 250 people were selected by convenience sampling. The reliability of the Persian version of this scale was examined by internal consistency and test-retest methods, and validity evidence was evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis. Results: The MSSM-R had acceptable face and content validity. Confirmatory factor analysis results showed that 24 items on this scale have factor loadings in five subscales. Other results showed the internal consistency, as measured by Cronbach α and test-retest reliability, for the MSSM-R overall (α = 0.85, r = 0.77) and for the following subscales: Healthcare Provider Relationship and Communication (α = 0.83, r = 0.70), Treatment Adherence/Barriers (α = 0.70, r = 0.71), Social/Family Support (α = 0.79, r = 0.85), MS Knowledge and Information (α = 0.89, r = 0.72), and Health Maintenance Behavior (α = 0.77, r = 0.75). Conclusions: This study provides evidence of the validity and reliability of the MSSM-R. To further ensure its psychometric properties, additional studies with this scale are suggested.
