AbstractThe paper presents the results of a study regarding the influence of treatment with zinc in different concentrations (50 mg∕l, 100 mg∕l, 200 mg ∕l, 300mg/l, 400 mg ∕l, 500 mg/l, 600 mg ∕l) on seed germination and growth in early ontogenetic stages ofCucumis meloL. We analyzed the following indicators: the percentage of germinated seeds; the length of root, the length of the hypocotyl and the length of the seedling; the number of the laterale roots; the tolerance index and the seedling vigor index. The results underline the specific variations of analysed indicators, depending on the concentrations used for the treatments of seeds. The concentrations used for treatment do not influence negatively the seed germination, but affected the seedling growth (especially the root elongation), the formation and growth process of lateral roots and the seedling vigour index. The delay effect of growth process is very pronounced in the case of high concentration.

Seeds of Black Mustard (Brassica juncea) were sowed in a paper cup with copper sulfate at different concentration. This experiment aimed to determine the effect of the variation in concentration of copper sulphate on the germination and growth of seeds of Brassica juncea. We wanted to establish which is the highest concentration of copper that the seeds of Black Mustard can tolerate. Seedlings growth investigation and measurements were made after 5 days. The seed germination rate was low to no for the high concentration and for control that increased dramatically with the decrease in concentration. At high concentration, no growth was seen.

This study presents the results of testing the effect of different concentrations of lead-acetate on seed germination and young Seedlings of alfalfa. Тhe experiment was organized so that in the first variant, only lead-acetate of different concentrations (10-5, 10-4, 10-3, 10-2 and 2 x 10-2 M) was used, and in the second, next to the lead acetate EDTA concentration of 0.012 % was added. The results of this study in which natural conditions are imitated showed that the percentage of alfalfa seed germination decreases with increasing lead-acetate concentrations. In a medium of high concentration of lead acetate 10-2 and 2 x 10-2, a small number of seeds (39% and 32 (32%) germinated. In the same treatments with EDTA, the toxic effects of lead acetate were reduced, and seed germination was better (59% and 43% seeds germinated). It has been noticed that lead has toxic effects on the growth of alfalfa roots and stems. In the variant in which EDTA was used, the negative influence of lead on and growth of alfalfa seedlings was significantly mitigated.
