The influence of two most important factors determining gold losses during mining of alluvial deposits is considered. They include the granulometric composition of sands and the initial gold content in them. It is shown that the underestimation of these indicators in the assessment of anthropogenic deposits significantly reduces the resource attractiveness of depleted objects. Specific examples give calculations that allow for a more accurate predictive estimate of the resource potential of the dredging tailing (effel) dumps. Based on the consideration of natural and climatic factors in determining the conditions, the placer content is plotted for the gold content in the sands of various economic areas of Khabarovsk Region. It has been established that at the same values of the designed process loss and given the comparability of the main placer parameters, a high average gold content in the initial sands makes it possible to predict within the dump some objects with standard contents.

The author addresses an issue of gold presence in pre-Quaternary crusts of weathering that are widespread in sub-mountain areas of the doming-block geomorphological structures of the Amur Region, the Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories along the periphery of large- and medium-sized Cenozoic basins and depressions. For a more detailed mining and geological study and assessment of the gold content of the weathering crusts, we recommended the Rybachy site as one of these objects (insufficiently studied), and the entire Mukhenskaya area as a promising one. These sites are located in the zone of articulation of the eastern side of the Middle Amur Depression with the folded structures of the West Sikhote-Alinsky volcanic belt. The author gives examples of large gold deposits, related to weathering crusts with their brief description (Olympiada, Kuranakh), as well as a brief description of alluvial deposits of weathering crust (sub-basalt cl.Paskhalny, an eluvial-alluvial placer of the Bolotisty Stream). The search work of the DVIMS (Far Eastern Institute of Mineral Raw Materials) in 2002 indicated the potential of weathering crusts within the Rybachy prospect for gold mineralization. This is supported by elevated gold in heavy mineral concentrates from the linear weathering crusts and residual blankets, as well as from non-commercial placers (from 0.01 to 4.0 g/t and higher); the occurrence of fracture zones, brecciation, secondary silicification close by fractures, and abundant Late Cretaceous silicic and intermediate dikes. Zones of hydrothermally altered rocks (silicification, chloritization, sericitization, argillization) are widespread here.

There are many scientific and practical works related to the identification and assessment of factors affecting the efficiency of beneficiation of placer sands at the sluice box, while the energy consumption of the beneficiation process, as well as assessing the efficiency of the sand screening process and the cost of maintaining the devices, is given little attention. Studies of the energy consumption of sand washing, carried out at several alluvial deposits, made it possible to identify the most energyconsuming devices, as well as to compare the energy expended for transporting rock through processing plants and to provide solid to liquid ratio during beneficiation at sluice boxes.

Tanzania is one of the leading gold mining countries in the world and the discovery of new gold resources on its territory is an actual task. Known gold deposits are concentrated mainly in the northwest of the country, in the metallogenic zone of Lake Victoria, where they are associated with the Archean greenstone belts, and to a lesser extent – in the southwest, in the ore regions of Lupa and Mpanda, confined to the Ubendian Paleoproterozoic mobile belt. With regard to the eastern regions of Tanzania, where the Proterozoic structures of the Uzagaran mobile belt are developed, until recently in this region any significant manifestations of gold mineralization were not known. As a result of our research in the northern part of the Morogoro province of the Republic of Tanzania, a new previously unknown gold deposit Mananila was discovered. It is represented by a large volume, up to 400–450 m long, up to 60–80 m thick, mineralized shear zone over intensely leached and schistosed migmatites, gneisses, amphibolites, penetrated by echelon systems of quartz veins and veinlet, steeply dipping bodies of quartz breccia up to 1.0–1.5 m thick. Gold contents range from 0.61 to 8.11 g/t, the average zone content is 2.5–3.0 g/t. Parallel to the main zone, similar structures are developed on the site, although they are of lower thickness. The forecast resources of the deposit are estimated at 20 tons of gold. 2.8 km to the east from the Mananila field, the recently discovered Mazizi gold deposit is located, and a number of small occurrences of gold are also known in the region. All these objects are located within a large shear zone of the northeastern strike, up to 4–5 km width, over 20 km in length. This serves as the basis for the identification of a new gold ore region in the northern part of the Morogoro province of the United Republic of Tanzania, within the Proterozoic mobile belt of Usagaran, the possible gold content of which has never been previously discussed in geological literature.

A review of gold and gold bearing base metals deposits in Chile, indicate the existence of at least six different type of ore deposits, most largely formed during the Cenozoic with predominance in the Miocene. Mesozoic deposits are common but less relevant regarding their size and gold content. These hydrothermal ore deposits are genetically associated with subduction related Andean arc magmatism. Due to its relationship with episodic magmatism migrating eastward, there is a tendency for the deposits to be in distinct, north-south trending, belts with a progressive west to east decrease in mineralization age. After analysing 82 cases in total, main gold concentration can be assigned to high-sulfidation epithermal and porphyry type deposits. Low-sulfidation epithermal, IOCG and mesothermal type appears as less relevant. Gold bearing copper deposits constitute an important part of Chile’s total gold production. Both IOCG type but especially porphyry copper deposits are and will remain as a substantial source to supplement the future output of the gold in the country. The 82 deposits with their tonnage and grade studied, represent a total gold content of 11,662 t equivalent to 375 Moz, excluding past production for those exploited. A number of probable gold bearing base metals high tonnage deposits (IOCG and porphyry copper) do not include their gold content in public format, hence the number delivered could be estimated conservative. Methodical geochronological, ore types and zonation studies are required to better appreciate this metallogenic setting widening current understanding and future exploration results.

Abstract The Upper Kolyma gold placers of northeastern Russia produced 2,700 metric tons (t) Au. Approximately 40% of this gold was extracted from just five placers, Chai-Yuria, Berelekh, Maldyak, Malyi At-Yuryakh, and Omchak, and their immediate tributaries. The placers were derived from Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous lode deposits, formed during sinistral translation subsequent to the Kolyma-Omolon superterrane accretion to the Verkhoyansk passive margin of the Siberian craton. The metallogenic events produced either abundant and widespread small quartz veins or more localized large to superlarge quartz stockworks and disseminated gold deposits. These orogenic gold deposits acted as a principal hard-rock source during formation of the gold placers, beginning in the Late Cretaceous but most importantly during the Cenozoic. Tectonic, geomorphologic, and climatic factors at a triple junction of the North American, Eurasian, and Okhotsk lithospheric plates provided the ultimate controls on placer formation.

The article presents the results of a research study of anthropogenic affects of gold mining on forest landscapes in Northern Transbaikalia, Russia and processes of natural reclamation of vegetation cover of the disturbed areas. The study area is located northwest of the Maliy Amalat River, which flows along the Vitim Plateau; in the floodplains of its two tributaries the Aunik River and the Bagdarin River. It is an area where a large number of alluvial gold deposits have been discovered. Some of these deposits are currently being developed, some have already been explored, and some have been abandoned. The authors consider the current state of vegetation cover in a key area of the Amalat River basin, near villages of Malovsky and Bagdarin. The problem of natural resources development and conservation is becoming extremely important for the area under study because open-pit gold mining methods that are used here drastically change the environment and affect water, land and forest resources.

The Khangay-Khentey belt is located in central Mongolia (Central Asian Orogenic Belt). The Uyanga ore knot district of the Khangay metallogenic zone are hosted by the lower-middle Devonian volcanogenic-sedimentary Erdenetsogt formation. The new Burgetei, Ult and Senjit gold occurrences were studied. The rocks of the Erdenetsogt formation have an irregular gold content: 0.96 g/t Au is determined in quartz vein (BG-7/16), Au content is highest up to 3.5 g/t in the quartzite-jasper (Ult-7/16 and Ult-9/16) cut by quartz veins in the Ult occurrence. The Senjit occurrence represents Au-Hg-Sb epizonal level of orogenic gold deposits structure with highest Hgand Sb content up to 8.5 ppm and 39 ppm respectively. The Au content of arsenic pyrite of the Burgetei and Ult is below the detection limit by electron microprobe analysis. The Au content of arsenopyrite of the Ult occurrence is highest (up to 238 ppm). The ore-mineral assemblages in the new gold occurrences reflect the differences between three explored sites, formed in the course of fluid evolution during the water-rock interaction. Variable concentrations of indicative elements (As, Te, Sb, Hg) and their ratios confirm this fact.

Conduct a ranging of natural-climatic and anthropogenic factors. It is shown that the main factors of lake pollution by nutrients are natural-climatic factors, in particular, forest fires. An analysis of the regulatory framework has been carried out, it has been proposed to harmonize the phosphorus and nitrogen indicators with all-Russian standards. It is established that in the residential areas there is no water treatment to the normative indices. For each class of settlements presented possible technologies for wastewater treatment. The strategy of building of unified system of water disposal in the Central ecological zone of the Baikal natural territory is formulated.
