This article is devoted to the study of the graphic trends and design activities’ relationship for a costume designer with modern architectural forms, as a source of inspiration and style formation for these subject-spatial creativity areas. The purpose of the article is to identify the specifics of the associative trends’ relationship in modern costume design with architecture and graphics. Identification of this specificity will help in establishing the relevant interdisciplinary connections in design education. To achieve this goal, the authors set the following tasks: 1) analysis of modern trends in costume formation based on identifying the features of the architectural forms’ influence on the modern costume design; 2) analysis of the general structural and graphic solutions between the modern presentation of architectural forms in the costume design by means of its graphic content. The authors proceed from the idea of the modern phenomena interaction in costume design, its graphics and architectural forms. In the analysis of the modern graphics and architectural forms’ main features in the conceptual solution to the costume design, common features of interaction are revealed. Changes in the art and design activities in the direction of graphic symbolism and imagery are revealed on the example of modern trends in architecture. The results of the study on the introduction of interdisciplinary communications are tested in classes on design in the material’s project implementation, special graphics and concepts in design.

The article analyzes the theoretical aspects of art and design activities, considers the features of the integrative organization of art and design activities of students in the lessons of fine arts and technology in primary school. Artistic and project activities of junior schoolchildren are realized through the disciplines of fine arts and labor education (technology) in primary school. The concept of "artistic and design activity" is analyzed through the prism of the concepts of "activity", "artistic activity". The following are considered: interconnected structural components of artistic design, types of activity and types of tasks aimed at the implementation of artistic design activities of junior schoolchildren. The article emphasized the potential of an integrated combination in primary school of fine arts and labor training (technology) for art and design activities of junior high school students.

Mental simulation represents how a person interprets and understands the causal relations associated with the perceived information, and it is considered an important cognitive device to support engineering design activities. Mental models are considered information characterized in a person’s mind to understand the external world. They are important components to support effective mental simulation. This paper begins with a discussion on the experiential learning approach and how it supports learners in developing mental models for design activities. Following that, the paper looks at the four types of mental models: object, making, analysis and project, and illustrates how they capture different aspects and skills of design activities. Finally, the paper proposes an alternative framework, i.e., Spiral Learning Approach, which is an integration of Kolb’s experiential learningcycle and the Imaginative Education (IE) framework. While the Kolb’s cycle informs a pattern to leverage personal experiences to reusable knowledge, the IE’s framework suggests how prior experiences can trigger imagination and advance understandings. A hypothetical design of a snow removal device is used to illustrate the ideas of design-related mental models and the spirallearning approach.

Colour studies have generated much confusion in art and design education, particularly among students of the discipline in Nigeria. This is due to the complexity of the subject matter itself, wide-range of available materials and a variety of concepts developed in its multi-disciplinarity that is not kept distinct. Therefore, this paper utilizes a qualitative approach that employs the critical, historical, and analytic examination to provide clarification on the constructive and expressive aspects of colour studies. The paper introduces the reader to the pivotal role of colour and its multi-disciplinary interest. Also, it adequately clarifies paradigms and theories in the physical, psychophysical and psychological domains with particular emphasis on areas of practical value to art and design. Moreover, it considers the numeric adaptation of the colour wheel to a set of numbers for harmonic relationship. And it ends with the need for artists and designers to comprehensively grasp the contextual behaviour of colour and develop colour originality through creative construction and effective use in order to successfully express themselves in colour.

While clothing is produced and consumed rapidly, it strives to create appropriate forms and to create appropriate identities by giving correct messages; therefore, it is one of the most important fields requiring art and design education. The fashion design student, who forms the infrastructure with basic art education and figure drawing, not only transfers the imagination to the two-dimensional plane with the fashion drawing lesson but also transfers it to the two-dimensional plane; at the same time, he takes art and design education, which is aesthetic education, and feeds his visual vision and mind. In this research, the Fashion Drawing Lesson has been examined in detail in terms of determining the place, position, importance, processing and content of the Fashion Drawing Lesson in the official fashion design curriculum and a comprehensive literature search has been conducted; then the matter has been tried to be examined thanks to a link has been established between education, fashion, art and design disciplines. The course syllabus in Turkey and some of fashion design course programs in the world were examined; the experts providing fashion formal education and the students who received fashion formal education were interviewed face-to-face to obtain information first-hand. First of all, the study started by determining the fashion design undergraduate programs in the OSYM (Assessment Selection and Placement Center) placement guide and examining the course hours, course times and course contents of the fashion formal courses in these programs. The researcher visited the designated universities for the purpose of on-site observation and interview, and conducted semi-structured interview questions and face-to-face interviews with experts and students and recorded them. The transcribed interviews were analyzed using content analysis method and the findings were interpreted within the framework of the research questions. The findings were interpreted and discussed, and after the results were written, suggestions about the study were included. As a result, it has been determined that the admission of students to the fashion design program should be made with the combination of central examination system and talent exam suitable for fashion design education. It was seen that the time granted for the program was not sufficient in mean of implementation of the fashion drawing lessons properly in the fashion design education programs.
