Growth is a broad area and many aspect of growth is under research especially in smaller and entrepreneurial firms. Many research show that growth and fast growth happens randomly and is not a continuous phenomenon. In this study, we investigate how successful entrepreneurs grow their firms. The investigation involved ten fast-growth firm cases in Iran -as an emerging economy- in different industries. The research is qualitative and data gathered through semi structured in-depth interviews. After coding, all interviews are mapped. By using Decision Explorer® all causal maps are analyzed. Analysis show that fast growth is a direct outcome of entrepreneurial marketing (EM) practices and indirectly influenced by serendipity. Serendipity is an element observed in many firms that generally occurs at the initial phase of firm formation and could bring great opportunities but indirectly associated with fast-growth. However, serendipity itself is not important but the ability to recognize and exploit opportunity is a crucial activity that entrepreneurs are really great at it. The ability of entrepreneurs to exploit serendipitous opportunities and use entrepreneurial marketing practices in terms of innovative products and activities/process lead to fast growth. Other elements, such as network, innovation, and perseverance, could either directly or indirectly influence growth.

This study aims to see the community participation in the satellite area in the construction and maintenance of Drainage in the Village Marindal II District Patumbak Deli Serdang. The research method used to answer the problem in this research is the method of qualitative research approach. Data obtained through in-depth interviews, literature study and documentation. Informant research comes from the elements of sub-district government and community. The results of the research show that the participation, involvement and utilization of drainage facilities are running well.

PurposeTo better understand the emergence of small-scale entrepreneurial firms in the under-researched transition economy of Cuba.Design/methodology/approachGiven the scarcity of reliable publicly available information and restrictions on private data collection in Cuba, in-depth interviews were conducted with a panel of small-scale entrepreneurs at three different points in time. Evolutions are analyzed over this period.FindingsFamily can overcome institutional constraints by helping the entrepreneur deal with market and social obstacles. Despite the absence of a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem, these new entrepreneurs and their families have been able to transform longstanding passive attitudes into positive steps to set up new small-scale ventures in a country facing unprecedented internal and external challenges.Originality/valueA new conceptual model of family support for entrepreneurship in transition economies is presented. The findings lend weight to institutional theory on overcoming constraints in emerging markets and extend the theory of family entrepreneurship to new transition economies.

This study aims to determine the marketing strategy for the local art shops at Batu Belig, Badung Regency. This research is interesting to be conducted because there is a difference between local and foreign art shops which could be identified from several aspects. This research is both interesting as well as important to make the local peoples as locals entrepreneurs  to be able to compete with the investors. The data in this study are qualitative data, which were obtained based on the results of observation, in- depth interviews, literature studies, and questionnaires. The amount of sampling is 60 respondents and they were selected using purposive and accidental sampling. In  order to survive in this tourism business, local owners must have a marketing strategy to increase the promotion by introducing Balinese culture, creat the innovative design of new product, making corporate identity, and increasing market segmentation,  the positive image, product quality and the quality of service. The suggestion in this study is local entrepreneurs should be able to create some innovative products that are more representing  Balinese culture.  Keywords: art shop, strategy, Balinese culture

This research examines the roles of auditing firms to spread ethical awareness. Auditing firms' roles can also enhance understanding of business companies regarding ethical consumerism. This can be accomplished by assisting businesses to develop their own ethical programs. The programs can enable companies to achieve profit and maintain desirable reputation in relation to investors, employees, and customers. Qualitative research is employed in this research. Based on snowballing technique, six in-depth interviews and two more telephone interviews were conducted. The findings of the research show that auditing firms are not familiar with the issue of ethical consumerism to promote. Businesses have not approached auditing firms to aid them in developing their own ethical programs. Such aid is not seen by auditing firms however as prohibited non-auditing services.

This commentary argues that scaling fast growth firms drive economic development, even in recessionary periods. While the coronavirus induced the ‘Great Lockdown’ and its aftermath poses particular challenges, we argue that the crisis presents the entrepreneurial scholarly community with an opportunity to re-orientate our research. Rather than more narratives of business success in the face of adversity, the Great Lockdown presents us with a fresh opportunity to examine how scaling is affected by context, by luck and by the porous nature of business growth. In so doing, our hope is that it will encourage our community to adopt a more proactive agenda to support policy makers and entrepreneurs.

The paper outlines the critical rational of change readiness for entrepreneurial ventures. It is very difficult for innovative startups to assess correctly customers’ response prior to actual entry. The probability of success increases when the venture adapts quickly to the feedback derived from users.It is proposed that a proper and timely adaptation can be directed by applying systematic elements of change readiness. These elements are discussed with special attention to the unique characteristics of information gathering and interpretation in the case of new innovative products.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to opportunities for further research into the marketing practices of small entrepreneurial firms. Design/methodology/approach – This study reviews the academic literature and identifies a gap in the existing research. It proposes the use of social practice theory in researching entrepreneurial marketing. Findings – Entrepreneurship and marketing have a lot in common – especially in small firms (small to medium-sized enterprises [SMEs]). When there’s nobody with a dedicated marketing role, then people all over the organization typically do things that contribute to the firm’s marketing effort. And, when marketing becomes the sum of activities carried out by different individuals at different levels within the SME, it becomes “an all-pervasive way of doing business”, rather like entrepreneurship, in fact. Research limitations/implications – This study provides a conceptual overview of the benefits of applying social practice theory to the study of entrepreneurial marketing. Practical implications – This study shows how social practice theory can be applied to the study of entrepreneurial marketing practices. Social implications – This study explains how these marketing practices can be conceptualized to provide insights into the significance of marketing-related activities in small firms. Originality/value – This study has the potential to facilitate the development of a new marketing research stream based on social practice theory.
