Green building materials are a new category. Compared with the past building materials, ideal building materials have a series of characteristics such as reducing energy consumption, reducing emissions, saving resources, and being recyclable, which makes them become an important reference for sustainable development. This article focuses on foam glass, green walls, and ecological cement. During the research process, it was found that foam glass has better characteristics than ordinary glass, and less waste is generated during the production process, which reduces pollution; The green wall can not only reduce energy consumption, but also absorb harmful substances, and the plant exterior wall can also make people comfortable; Ecological cement can be made from waste materials, which greatly saves resources and realizes recycling. In short, green building materials are an important method to achieve sustainable development and will certainly play an important role in the future construction field.

Sustainable development has become a significant worldwide concern. The past few years have seen a lot of changes. Some of these affect how we do approach - and how we should approach - environmental issues. Because of their adverse impacts to sustainability, knowledge about building materials became a crucial dimension of green change in building and design. The problem is that in Egypt there is still no database for green building ma-terials. In spite that there are currently over 120 international green labelling programs for building materials worldwide, they cannot be locally used. This is because building materials and the way they are extracted, manufactured, used, transported, recycled or disposed differ from country to country. All these factors result in insufficiency of data & information on green building materials and those who are involved in the design, construction & man-agement of building materials are acutely lacking the basic information on materials that would allow them to make constructive changes. That's why the introduction of a system for specification, assessment & se-lection of green building materials is considered to be one of the corner-stones of promoting sustainable green building development in Egypt as an attempt to fulfil Goal 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals developed by the United Nations to make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable by 2030. The aim of the research is to develop a framework for a system for evaluat-ing sustainability of building materials in Egypt to achieve greener steps to-wards sustainability with a new way of scoring sustainability of building materials that evaluates both positive & negative ecological, social & health and economic impacts through the whole life cycle. This system could be applied in the development of the New Cites that considers the unique chal-lenges of the region and the local market and could be applied all over the country taking into consideration the nature of each region with its available building materials and specific climatic conditions and the different regional priorities and requirements. The research was based on an inductive approach through studying & analy-sis of the life cycle of the building materials, the different aspects and crite-ria for the evaluation of green building materials, currently available re-sources of information about building materials in Egypt and the interna-tional & national reference values & benchmarks that could be used as a base for the new system. Findings will lead to a proposed framework of a system for specification and assessment of green building materials in Egypt. This framework de-scribes all the kind of information required and the procedures that should be taken for the development of the system from collecting data till the es-tablishment of online guide for green building materials and a digital library for accessible and reliable information on green building materials that ena-bles building designers, constructors and developers to make reasoned choices based upon the health & environmental impacts of their decisions and eases the use & selection of Green Building materials in Egypt over the coming years.

The paper gives account of the relationship between design for sustainability and its related factors. It includes the concepts of sustainable development, planning and design achievements and the use of green material. The concepts of sustainable development should be made of the strategies of effective planning and design, the personal safety problems and ecological strategies, green building materials, the appropriate and reliable technology, interdisciplinary working and integrated collaboration in research on green building materials. In addition to these, the article studies the main categories of green building materials, including ecological safety materials, low-carbon materials, and recycled-content materials.

The role of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) in constructing the Eco-society or Eco-city has been comprehensively recognized and promoted worldwide over the past two decades. Nowadays, several hot issues such as the energy saving, CO2 reduction, and eco-society have received great attention. Approximately 40% of global energy is used in the construction and subsequent operation stage, while a large amount of construction waste is produced during construction and after demolition. In Taiwan, the government continuously makes great efforts to promote the development of green building materials produced with the recycling construction waste over the past decades. However, the recycling green building materials are not extensively accepted and used in the construction industry of Taiwan. The objective of this study is to propose a strategy for promoting the recycling green building materials through the investigation of “cradle-to-cradle” life cycle of construction products. The key factors lowering people’s impression and purchase behavior have been studied. The disadvantage of existing policy of government is also discussed and compared. Finally, the present study attempts to propose a feasible strategy to assist government to promote the utility of recycling green building materials.

Based on the demand of sustainable environment, the construction company must seek for new concept to express a house with functionality, comfort, wisdom, security and particularity to attract the consumers during the process of current architectural design. With the documentary analysis and expert interviews, the indicators are planned. Moreover, Fuzzy Delphi is used to filter the indicators; Analytic Network Process (ANP) is used to compare the relative importance among the indicators. Both are used to find out the reasons that impact the construction company to choose green building materials; and offer references for the company to select the materials in the future. From the result of this study, the health and environmental protection are considered by the construction company with first priority, then getting international certification, sustainable development and quality of building materials. Selling is not the first consideration. It shows that the consciousness of sustainable development is acknowledged by all the management levels in the construction company.

In recent years, the construction industry has developed rapidly, and there are more and more urban construction projects. The corresponding design requirements for HVAC systems are also getting higher and higher. HVAC has been widely used in all kinds of buildings. While providing convenience for people, environmental pollution has gradually become a topic of concern for people. Therefore, when designing the HVAC system, HVAC not only meets the needs of customers, but also uses green energy saving technology to reduce energy consumption as far as possible. Reduce environmental pollution, so that the HVAC ventilation system of tall buildings can be in a stable and efficient operation state. Improve the operation effect of air conditioning, while reducing energy consumption.
